Yeah. This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong in Kim. Wall Street to your street stay on top of breaking business news and learn how to manage your money to help you towards a more secure future feeds the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and Jim Carey games. Had rain a lot. It. She's just this weekend I was a bit slower and very. That to some recently you're gonna find out I'm. Happy spring everybody. Since. He. I I I think it is we only to go home right now and get that extra hour sleep if it gets an expert or. Yeah you don't get that extra or lose by all ticket for the for the daylight. Yet be like to 7 o'clock. You know ten lines. If there was some place to walk and be super right I get firmness a firm you can protect in the second Sunday march. The neo. Right that would be this week this time I'm Barry Armstrong. Can paragon of service unemployment week. They like Mattingly for her to Mario and we knew it. It's morning now. So let's let's run through those numbers quickly should now. How about the weekly jobless announced schematic 8:30 eastern time today they were up by 7000. Whose 320000. Now. That number just keeps inching inching up. It was anticipated Aetna would be about 295 this week in it's up to 323 Tony. I mean I know it you know it's never bad number we can stay under 350 absolutely I read it to. You like it lowered the number the better it is the American worker absolutely you want a little number. This is this is a team it's a little unnerving about this and I'm afraid that we're starting to see. A little fallout from. The oil industry. Down but he should be made up in other areas Ian McKee you you look yet the energy sectors is not yet just by virtue that went. The weather hurting us is that you can't remember we we always focus on the winner but that's a north eastern and northern part of the country it's like Minnesota. And east are. As things slowdown in Chicago slowdown in buffalo in Michigan slowdown. All throughout New England they were slowdown through upstate New York a slowdown in New York City. In New York now the hospital hope I don't think a lot people were coming off oil re going to work in New York City ranked. Oil just isn't a factor or is about 7% mark on. Energy let me let me tell you. There was a report out by challenger green Christmas. And they said that. Employers actually cut fewer jobs in the month that you Wear in the previous month but the total amount of Wales compared to a year ago was op and they are. Attributing most of that to the energy sector. So you're Asian players announced that they hit a total of 50579. Jobs that were slashed in the month of February this year. 161000. And knows. Lost their jobs in oil price. Oil industry. So. So you're suggesting that the bear should be. Yes I think so maybe you're let me give you what I considered to be. The ultimate. Bullish indicator and that is in the month of January. Spending at bars and restaurants. Popped grocery store sales for the first time ever. That you we've never seen almost as much a wash its orbit but think about from a perspective standpoint right. Your to your talking about all the economy's terrible. Well that it and I I get these bearish sentiments I talked to one of our economists on a regular basis and he is like Debbie downer right out but then I said. Okay well if you're so negative on the economy and if things are so horrible. Why for the first time in the history of our economy. Are we spending more money. In restaurants. And in bars and we are restores it's it's it's unheard at the right because that's that's extra money yeah that's. A trainer thing that sort of indicates it's a bullish marketing net that. More luxury cars are being sold in fact I heard this morning. The average cost. At an average car payment has gone and now it's right 400 dollars highest average car price who are up 33000 dollars is the average sticker price now I know you might say well I just bought a car for twenty I've talked about the after the average well and right the average is there's a whole lot of people who just by 80000 dollar you know. So we know about it talk about it and letting them as your financial advisor I do not advocating spending 80000 dollars on a vehicle. Well interesting interesting numbers Lotta people in restaurants and bars I would say that the month of February in very different. Certainly on the East Coast and that had to do it there and. And if weather related thing if you're looking for work there may be a job opening in South Korea. US ambassador to South Korea I use other video on this I did not bear some disturbing ambassador mark Lipper. The poor guy is dare you your. In South Korea you think your credit and that's safe place as an American right. And he goes to deliver some kind of breakfast speech yesterday in Molly's there is some heckler in the crowd. And apparently this is not uncommon. In South Korean especially if you're in on the educational setting. These terrible LB hecklers toot toot dude is because they think it's spurs more conversation. Well this individual start tackling him in the next thing you know it starts charging this stage. He gets him down and he starts stabbing him with a ten inch knife he's got into this function. And it turns out he's in North Korean sympathizer. And and the north Koreans of course use this as an opportunity to come out and say well Americans deserve it. So thank goodness the ambassador is. On the men he was in surgery for numerous hours eighty stitches eighty stitches many of which were in his face. And could miss that you get is now. And he could get his wrist and apparently cut through the the nerves of his fingers are not functioning at this point they're hoping that that's going to be okay. So really brutal. Act in a roomful of people and in a country where you'd think Americans are relatively so. Very interesting. Speaking about us being safe we are going to be joined by an expert we're going to be talking about the middle east of and we're discussing the issue of Iran's effort. To develop a nuclear weapon do we have a name of arbor hurt are our person joining us they had not yet they're traveling as a lot of travelers who we do we don't know Bloomberg dire we Bloomberg Washington Post atop a tonne journal yeah. Did you see the full page ad from Kiel was this morning. Now you'll says that company to operate TM BTA. You know they added I hope they said sorry. Well yeah I mean I wouldn't they would to sit. They were fine 434000. Box by the state because of what happened in the month of February. And they came out and do you know they said that we understand the frustration we understand people our side. They they came out with a couple of my statistics. Only 35%. Of the keyless run trains ran on time. In the month of February and if you are regular T personal. It's still a disaster yeah I talked a guy I dinner with a guy he commutes from truth or. And he just he he he he was so fresh he literally was saying. I think I might look for another job just because Kate yeah I guess in Los and I can't take the community he said. Which should be a 55 minute commute has turned into a two hour and fifteen minute commute each way if he can make. Well that's it yes. We know I just did an equal to those numbers that were released earlier this would you know seven billion dollars to make it functional now. It's just it I I am really I am really disappointed with. Department not not the current administration is not their fault but administrations of the past and everybody who's operating this eat you make promises. To commuters and this is what they do. You need to invest in public transportation you need to invest in infrastructure new englanders are notoriously cheap. And they don't wanna invest in the second and it ends up costing you more because when you have about that sure transportation system. They employers get turned off or because they're play. But imagine your State Street bank your Liberty Mutual that's a great era big employer in. A major city right. You've got to get your workers their New York City has figured this out New York City is a heck of a lot bigger then than the Boston. And air transportation system works yet and it it's functional and it is safe. He's got to have a safe. Functioning transportation. I'll tell you there's not and we don't and if they don't get this straightened out don't be shocked and upset win the that he and Cox of the world start moving their their headquarters elsewhere don't be upset when State Street starts to in the same. You know Fidelity's already taken a lot of their workers at a downtown Boston don't be surprised by. At that question for you on our text number is 68680. How much money do you think in entry level school bus driver. Earns in Providence, Rhode Island. A fair question a eulogy I'm talking Dave. You know you get yours here commercial driver's license and your entry level week remembered driving kids around which I don't. Argues that. You know important job yes but how much do you think they're entry level wages are text number is 68680. We'll cover that story favored covets are right after the new story right OPEC. The duties via the reason I bring it up is Providence school bus drivers just ratified. This new contract. I think they're pretty well paid I'd be curious to think you're what you guys have the same manner text number 68680. How much you think Providence a school bus drivers. You pay entry level wage and how much do you think they get paid when knee you know what's it been around awhile Ari we're talking in Iran and nukes when we return. A lot from that could mean Dolan with your legally exchanged quick tip of the day. Today we're talking about last minute cleaning techniques for the procrastinate or they can help steadier assets if someone goes in to a nursing now. Todd can anything be done to save the liquid assets of an unmarried individual. Yes there are some things now remember it's never as good as as advanced planning but it's better than losing all the money and that's really the goal. In order for an individual who single to get on Medicaid. They have to half less than 2000 dollars and often times they won't they'll have you know few hundred dollars and if that they saved over their lifetime. Well packed bucket of money is there the individual within half to. Purchased one of these Medicaid annuities and please let me just throw a reminder that these annuities cannot be purchased prior to. Someone going into the nursing home case so don't let somebody tell you that they can you make an annuity today. It's a last minute planting technique. And once you buy this annuity lets me take two or 300000 dollars up excess assets. And purchase the annuity and those excess assets are converted to an income stream so value in essence have less than 2000 dollars and assets. Because there. Big chunk of assets has now paying out income stream a monthly check you'll receive. Over your life expectancy whatever your life expectancy is that's the term of the annuity. The moment you buy that annuity you're now eligible for Medicaid annual stretch out the money make it last. Lot longer folks if you're single warm married in their feast with a nursing homes day. The air is something that can be done to save your assets last minute that you need some guidance. Collar office right now for the brain a guy from Cushing and Dolan cleaning for procrastinators. 8668485699. And 8668485699. Aaron Tim Miller financial exchange owned FaceBook FaceBook dot com slash the financial exchange this is the financial exchange radio. Network. Transportation story 392 great point. Ever Hurricane Katrina or sandy sandy right New York had their trains running in less than a week. Now and then hoped the incident is under so it certainly underground. 978 says we do invest continuously money is squandered with payoffs and pension fraud. You know 97 a YouTube hit the nail on the head there I hate to admit that your right. But they'll wish it wasn't true others who share in China and and Charlie I and the good news is you've got a new sheriff in town. The bad news is I think he's going to be one term governor well he's gonna make some very unpopular. Decisions. The bad news is he's he's coming to clean this mess up and that makes you unpopular immediately you know by. In the long run gosh I think the state will be a lot better shape you know I mean did you saw that he's calling for his conduct call for layoffs on the state level. Lot of employees can offer a lot of people you know. Early retirement buyouts and that kind of thing but if they don't take it. Here's the bottom out so there's a lot of of course serious and I mean again this is the he's gonna do those unpopular things there was that same amount of fat in the last administration vary but nobody didn't. Out right Tuesday day ago. 603 says I drive a school bus in New Hampshire and I started at eleven dollars and fifty cents per hour and I'm gonna say that Rhode Island somewhere around thirteen dollars and fifty cents now. Well 603 and make a suggestion to. Blue or. Island. To prop up in understands that before we reveal this in and I know that they they just negotiated this new four year deal. They're sitting other shift a typical shift is about two point 75. You know so two hours two and three quarters. You understand how a school bus drivers work now so I don't this is what I wanna understands are we talking about three in threes that's a six hour. Shift today OK so you go in in the morning. And you'll mate but column. Three EG two right okay so just think about your kids' school system guy. They stagger most schools systems of today but you know in our town. The high school kids start at 7 o'clock operated to be here at 657 chair and and the acting the middle school in younger no. Let under middle school what was neat through six the adults started to about 8 o'clock or. The school bus drivers work that ship the net takes about two and three hours drive so they get to their bus depot. They jump in the box and then eagle drive there route. But the whole busy writing gap because you don't have to be back now are high school lets out with times sought Scott middle school and a why after two. And so it to be back for that to a clock and they have to drive the second shift so. The again. Yeah Thursday shortly they've got a good you figure BTU they're probably down there are there for shift college maybe the first ship runs from. And it's a 6:15. AM to dole nine. Nine. And nine probably 615 days buried second one probably starts at about 145. In his rightful completed. Hill preacher you know 334. So it's a split shift with the Providence, Rhode Island. They approved the four year contract. With per student that's the company on Tuesday night that will give them a minimum of two and three quarters hours per shift retroactive. To July 1 twenty Ortiz and they're gonna get a date lumps on track. The Nicklaus ladies. This is a local Teamsters local two once said that they would not budge. From either a three hour shifts starting July 1 point fifteen. Or two and three quarter hour shift rectal acts of the wet the retroactive. To two and three quarter hours. The contract which starts July 1 of last year and ends June went thirtieth twenty team. Covers a 180 force school bus drivers in said that news approved overwhelmingly. With about half the membership voting. If members had not approved agreement that they were going to be on the picket lines and not on the picket line that's the right. The contract negotiated during 21 day cooling off period that started forever sixteenth will compress nine paste that into five. Top step drivers so the easier. Guys get along mr. 23 dollars and five cents an hour will now. Be earning 25 dollars and 39 cents an hour by 2070. 25 dollars and 39 cents an hour to drive us. Starting drivers who are right now making sixteen dollars and 55 cents an hour. Are going to start at 21 dollars and yeah. That's Wednesday that a lot of folks who really benefiting Craig guy a very good as they did so they had better than the six that are easy six very sad news it west I know. Well you know he's I'll bet dollars to donuts he's not in unions. He's either maybe there unionized in Yugo into a non union shop. You need a lot last month but it is a little strange job because you figure. If you work your your top. Pays going to be like five and a half six hours a day right if it big gap so we'd do with that big gap shirt in the middle of the day. Well it if you live in the district are close they're too. You know in Europe your media. Worm woman in our room and merely convenient you know your job to do things and it's a great job for retirees yes degree gap jobs so let's say you're on early ago in the and you worked as a cop and he worked as a fire fighting you're tired 58. What bothers me about is like when all the kids in they get on the field trips and stuff like that Nina did not so slow moving and they're insisting on its worst ones are winners sporting teams are absolutely hockey teams island and. They got older stuff that did you ever skated behind school buster did that when your kid. It's fun be if they if there's ice on the ground right. At least using a life estate does provide the parent the right to live there that some protection I I feel better about that. But I really don't like having the children's name. On any property. For the following reasons one when you do that it's a completed gift to you've lost all control over your order anymore. I worry about if it's going through divorce an ex son in law the ex daughter and when your house like. The making collect unemployment in in the summer when you're kidding I didn't. I did not know that either. I knew that though for you know the guys that work on the ferries going back and forth to Martha's Vineyard and technical winter urged matches weekend. Here's your first very question of the day who wrote the adventures of Tom Sawyer he knows the answer that question you meet Texas. It's X 8680 who wrote the adventures of Tom. Let me just say one thing about last. Me about collecting and play quickly. Be. Fraud. I mean. First off. Those theories they do go all winter yet the eagle much much Russ frequently use staffing in the media but you know oh. I guess you're not knowing I don't know you know in late. The union enough. And buster do and it and then. The way to work but I will tell you that our opinions and our listeners. And now is they stink. Some of their things that they up as school. They don't get that area. Now don't start unemployment. Is because you're not in the classroom and get that anyway score they point out you know that it. These guys to make a lot more money Whitney do. Extra stuff too like for all teams. You know particularly kids on field trip of their attacks. Pretty good money is and you think about it Writely you think about Dave when you went to a hockey game rate your high school player and a hockey team or football demands chart. Right it probably pick you up for game at like 6 o'clock. Rate 5 o'clock apricot or for that show is a look at the score right so to say say you're going to the rank right. They picked up two hours before the game yet sorry and you'd get back to the school may be what an hour hour and a half after the Alia right that's pretty good shift. Your it's your it's it's a double and a trip to write you get a double and I would imagine and six already so and and I would imagine they pay you. Better money I'm sure their contracts says you're doing something like that that's even better money than what you make in your regular schooled right. So you can make some bill and their peers call for that kind of driving. So much in any school oh yeah that you utilize those folks are sporting events absolutely you've got justice. You know yet equal sports right boys and girls you've got GB sport is now you got a lot of travel. Involved with these athletic teams and I'm telling you honestly in Greece Greece at the middle school loans one's got. They are there's somebody on a field trip ever. You know at least twice a week. In. Write the headline is like Israel US air abs. Arab allies fear Obama's Iran nuclear game yet president is really not make many friends as. Well not only on this deal is alienating. A lot of Americans nest but he's also. Alienating. Our allies in the Middle East. Allies by the way that we have had some kind of rocky. Relations with of late anyway. And now. You know we've. He's there they're all saying you know that they are he's alienating them. While making friends with the double. And the question becomes why you do now. So a lot of these leaders and certain leaders in Saudi Arabia and Egypt and there'll saying you know we we agree with what Netanyahu saying we're just seeing platform that he resigned. From congress and saying okay. Think mr. Freeman has caught up in the year it seems like. He's making a pretty big mistake you know him by Al counts of Britain and very few people siding with the president and you know. They're getting pretty close to I heard him say this morning they're they're getting very close this deal being on it and it's hard for the next president unwind. You feel those guys got less than couple years ago. He's a lame duck but he's doing some pretty damaging. May have some pretty damaging acts in his last couple years while and what you end up here with is you're you're wound up tight with the Iranians and you've unwound your relationship with Al. And that so that even harder I I would worry about it but it. Not too much because you've got Israel there yes I'll tell you what president can do say and do whatever I am sorry to say right now he could say oh we're gonna do this for the. Israel is the rule makers absolutely they are and have been very clear. That no matter what the president decides if they start developing a new killer system. They're gonna stop taking your own hands to think you know it is looking to Iran I think. Because of what he sees going on with this fight against these radicals and he sees a re Indian. Troops boots on the ground helping in this fight right. I don't I don't see that is enough reason I just I notice a line on that while he did. Yeah I'm the enemy of your enemy is still your enemy is your enemy right the enemy of your enemy is your enemy and he's actually right about that and I don't think to fight. Two to get aligned with us to fight ice and this is reason enough to to say gosh everything's all for giving only have a nuke yet. Not those those utilities and we'll buried it for different reasons than we are by the way when it comes to the fight against terrorism. She the numbers on gambling and I I was looking at it some numbers as it relates to casinos and wanted to share these with you. Massachusetts residents are spending about 400 million dollars less at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mohegan Sun. Then they did just a decade ago and visitors from Rhode Island. Are spending almost 200 million dollars less so. Look at the bucket there they've lost. 600 million or fifty million dollars a month in revenue well I can't tell you what I find interesting about something we talked about off the top of the broadcast and ethnic. A lot of people have extra money in their pocket we're seeing that because of spending money in bars and restaurants are buying luxury vehicles. But they're not taking interest again in gambling well why is that they make I think. That they are can I just think there's so many options now to get so convoluted sure you've got to casinos in Rhode Island race that Newport in twin river by the way twin river. Is buying the Newport casino. You've got. It is coupled casinos in me by a pack completely forgot about that there's casinos. Up in in Maine. You've got. The same amount it's just being. Spread out from among a lot more casinos and then I think that the reason the report on foxwoods and Mohegan Sun is so dire. Is you just think of the destination. You wanna go away for a weekend wondering where would you rather go would you rather go to Mohegan Sun would rather go to Boston. Well I don't I still I'd address well figure actually write the Boston doesn't exist right now so my question is why are they not. Why are there gamblers not returning for destination purposes like mohicans and part of it is the recession and if you didn't have the money right. But if they do now. Gosh it's been a bad winter and you can get away and duels at their spot and glamour he noticed a little bit different now that that same kind of I don't seem twin rivers as a destination. That's. That's that's like being in Vegas and you get downtown and and you get the stir in order I mean that's two very different gamblers in different locations. I'm just very bothered by the fact that. There's no bothered at all well I have because we're at casinos and we're about a foot the bill for a whole bunch of stuff and I'm wondering well student that. That. Ship sail them. So I mean now we're doing this and down and we don't see people pulling money that I just wonder if people haven't lost the topic for as to exactly. That's what it is concerned and maybe the recession had something to do that because people are saying. He might have a little extra money for Barbara I'm not gonna go blow whatever casino which just happened to me and maybe. More time now will make a difference but I don't know it's very concerning. He we have jolts knowledgeably. Joining us in the next segment from nutrition and you re talking about I'm very concerned about this to happen. How much the Netflix cost he talks about it is it is outrageous patently HBO they're making a mistake yeah I think there. I added realize HBO's gonna go to a streaming system there's so you don't have tipped cable. You can get HBO which actually got to try this gonna hurt people but is going to be another. Nail in the coffin it's about the same price I think if you go to buy a package in cable can't get HBO at about fifteen dollars an HBO you'll probably get something else with it by. It's about the electorate roughed him. But having said that they're going to the streaming system and you're going to be able to get it for. Fifteen bucks a month and don't have all the rest cable or will they be in terms shows that he the enterprise and schemes that it was. Grown and the doctor. Jeanne they've a lot of good shows the good that the reason why this whole I think it's expensive but it will still work. Is because they have a backlog of shows that obviously people access to so. Now this and you pay fifty dollars a month and you could still go back and watch what you say sex in the city about role there ever roam the Zetterberg. It was a good one. Mean cisneros was the best show that agent will you ever have to go get you know if you went to go live and I dvds. Right of soprano is you're going to be spending 300 dollars brightly but they always have now. But this is heartbreaking because on the guy wants a cup record I'm not spending fifteen dollars for every channel how I bet is that there. Yeah unit that it is that's the issue is is cores and you know HBO I mean if you if you like their shows it's great if you're you know Fiorina HBO for movies. I would also want them Pacquiao Mayweather fight subsidize their cost for the next twenty years and viewers your chance now that. Should I would have a party to the B two million. He finished up and start to only thirty. What the boxing yeah. The party will start at about sent it you'll see about four undercard fights and real fight will not start until after ominous accidents tend to say eleven. In the army and obviously to our home your castle how to cross picket. Kids are angry at. We're very happy I just heard that the pats released Vince Wilfork yeah and its earlier it would do let me get this right is this is and I said yeah. In his with what's going okay well at eleven years. He's played for them. And die here and options contracts which was an option Mort David IQ is acting in order for a million dollars and they're not. And I am now. So we sent out this incredible latter. You know he's better buying means he says. He's made more frontiers and imagine Spain has been incredibly blessed. He does say that he doesn't and continue plate for. With this conversation here I think a lot of people know more about this kind of thing I'd. Are seeing the same thing that's that they. They back when it's also done bill undercut big time in three box that median. Income like Manning. Part of a Mac these four million dollars plus that's a habit I'm not cried for pay recently fifteen million. You know I mean fifty and up like. Willing against each and up on young team Indian locker room presence. And he's got a lot of yours one I mean you know he's big. Linemen played pretty honest here eleven years in. Well it is separate stones joining us she's the senior HR business partner and insight performance and think either a recently did survey. On the climate of business in new England and they do all different sizes of businesses. And ask a kind of really an interesting question sort of setting up the new year where the businesses are headed what kind of benefits what kind of size salary increases and that kind of thing nuclear planning. And now we're anxious to hear what she's heard in the last few weeks so it's Heath thanks so much for being with this great to have you. Thank you for having me you bet so the overall business climate what did you hear. Good at it definitely improving here in New England. You know kind of art tagline or that they're elated it was sort of item prop it. You know. I think we could be back in the nineties around the turn at being 2000 companies were building. And I think they're improving now that the recession. Been doing it more constantly battle isn't as solid businesses they're rallying. Companies are looking more profitable. We get and the patent or whenever companies that reported expected better. We turned in 2015. Either and then 2014. Is not a good improvement over 2013. That a friend is definitely going to court now. And that you just mentioned that and that's one of the changes you saw as opposed to last year how about some other changes. So it you know what kind of work hand in hand what antiquated biggest names that we let companies investing back in their employees in terms. In and it compensation and bonus says. And also a little bit in the region where you know over the last couple years we've seen a lot of Reading of wages even cutting wages. Now we're seeing companies look more toward. Giving merit increases and even more giving it kind of compensation and bonuses apparently. Would you attribute that to the idea that it's getting tougher to find employees or do you think it's just a making up for lost time. I think a little bit of it definitely think it's a combination nineteen companies realize that they need QB paying their. Employees competitively in markedly in order to even retained and engaged. But also in order to reach crap. Track new employees you'd you'd need the offering them unit on a president and a cup as well. Since you did this survey last year the Affordable Care Act has some really bad. Put into place is it influencing the way companies doing business. Yeah it is a little bit not that much umi and spell you know probably weren't being the most changes and challenges. Is really firm reached out hospitality or those industries where they may not have offered. Medical plan. And note that kind of industry where are being they're taking part in terms of the Affordable Care Act because now they're being required in order to comply. Upper medical plans to employees. But those business that really kind of outside of the industry. It nodded much of an impact for them although we you know we see since he injured in the paint the medical plan that there are. Sure talk companies use this survey what what does it mean to them. You know I think probably the biggest legal aid that we got from a survey is that you know that kind of right in order to meet your key employees. And to attract new employees did you do need to keep that compensation marketable. And not just you know competition in terms of wages. But I'll pay your benefit package. Your fringe benefit your medical dental. The other benefit. As well as the impact of calm and confident about the real takeaways that I didn't group over all. We need to start really. You know making sure that we're rewarding employees appropriately in order to keep that. You know Nancy that's good news for workers that's for sure we've been waiting to hear this kind of news for the last couple of years we've seen jobs come back but we haven't seen those wage increases of those benefits increase. Great news is that the stone thank you very much for joining us for budgeted. Yeah room. It's that's what I wanna hear right yeah and the kind of thing really a year that we see. An evil people start to make a few more bucks say every day it seems in reporting on. Another story was workers are using power. Moral course rating if the unemployment report. That abuse statistics released a weak growth. In the statistics as it relates to job Cree and labor participation rate that is. The most important economic report it released on the race. Nothing more important event and working. Wonder great prices ever gonna get to work again that he is it's currently here and ray raced it does the NFL lead in the state and the doctors. Oh. And he got paid for. Well he just eat just got paid port every race received one million dollar from the Baltimore Ravens as part of the settlement. In his wrongful termination grievance. Day in the month of January. As a result of the settlement the ravens will carry an additional 177000. Dollars 2015 to our cap. The is that it cut rate for because of these behavior beat his wife. An ankle doctor. And but now the knee his then fiancee. He's like yeah which it dead to me that makes a difference because. He hitter and still mayor. As if he played in the NFL in use but when I talked to last about this topic. You thought you'd actually play in the year 2014 I think I know and he didn't back I think he will. He's twenty years old as a team take a flyer on him three time pro bowler. Nobody show and we're going to take that was our core. Inside information. And what about the Eagles ate meat treated. Arguably their best player on McCoy Buffalo Bills and he is. All about the Benjamin's world a lot about salary cap you know. I when we come back or be talking about yeah capital spending. For less money than it would cost me for national greater Northeast Utilities. That's absolutely right we at first I never at the point where solar energy is dramatically cheaper than utility and utility makes this easier every year. By reason the rates low solar power is getting cheaper cheaper thanks to dramatic drop panel cost. And lots of lucrative incentives in Massachusetts where at that point now in the average rate Massachusetts's right around twenty cents. And the average rate work for solar energy was to level as the cost. Six point eight. So with a lot less expensive. It's. Timeless now. So what are the available incentives what do the tax incentives for putting up solar power short. If your home rate at 30% of the cost back does that tax credit but there's also cash it paid every quarter for ten years. Based on the production system on top of the 30% on top of 30%. Wall Street Journal reports big firms finally start to ramp up spending. Good news for American workers if it is in fact true right we're joined by three Theo Francis he's a reporter for the Wall Street Journal and he wrote the article deal howry today. Good so what's the evidence that big firms are starting to ramp up their capital expenditures. So we didn't we looked at the capital expenditure number earth orbit by a big chunk yes it worked up about or tree company. They had reported late 2014. Results. And we saw their capital expenditures go up by about 15% of Kirk Kirk border about a third. Ask this quarter over quarter increase in the past five years. But step program. Yup because it's been awhile hasn't it I mean since the Great Recession. Companies have been hoarding their cash buying back their stock increasing dividends but they haven't been spending their cash app and. That's right I haven't been reinvested in the business at the rates that economist and another really like the city. You know capital expenditures and investment in the business that is an important component economic recovery because it tends to be more all at all. Penn State consumer spending consumer spending that much bigger party. Economy but what you get due to that is investment attempt to change mark and to try and down. So feel let me ask you this. Based on your studies you've got 423 companies that are increasing but we also know the energy sector. He is you know really decreasing. Their capital expenditures will these capital expenditures being made by companies like Campbell's soup and hotel companies will they be more it and then enough to offset the cuts in the energy sector. Whether that remains to be seen so one of the complications here is that. We are looking at S&P 500 companies which have operations in the US outside. The court US economy that's just the US and the broader economic data suggests and and that's the forecasts that could be ought to get of the US economy. Keep growing in terms of business investment at a at a okay is that not a great one and not because increased capital expenditures by other companies like we also. At least some and and they all of the decline in energy sector keep in mind the energy sector count four out of 7%. A total capital expenditures 1%. Of GDP so it's significant but it's not necessary not to cry and there. No nobody it it has been a major contributor. To GDP growth during the last certainly the last 45 years I mean if you took out energy. During the last five years this recovery. It was a strong in the first place it would have been even worse without energy right. Absolutely absolutely and what we may find it that energy kind of help bridge to gap and Robert recover if and back. This beat is about large company capex translates into a broader economic. Business investment trends in the US so it you know making the energy sort of collapsed in just about at the time that pristine credit. Viewed as a lower energy cost in cents a CEO to do more capital expenditures of thing and like. An airline right you're running southwest jetBlue and all of a sudden your jet fuels down in price 50% at your largest single expense. It's down 50% do you then say. Gee it's time to I don't know redo our are jets' third go up by more jets knew it would the impact on as CEO spending. So broadly speaking. Where were yours and it absolutely right com and oil and energy prices that are a lot that is. That it hasn't won the parties that. Come to the energy are going to be better corporate I'm more money that span. That's dead. There you become back page has some companies hedge their energy exposure and so they're less affected by the by the ups and other parts of cost about it now. So some airlines for you know will be it will it will buy their fuel well and they don't actually it at a lower energy prices for a little while of course an outside precedent right. There are protected so it really goes company by company for the economy at all over. And be good for consumers who are two thirds of the of the entire continent and did a lot of businesses. Very good deal thank you very much for your time. Theo Francis Wall Street Journal joining us today and the financial exchange Mark Twain was born in the year 1835. Don do that she's in the sun cook the New Hampshire yet. And she's taking on the match like she's at the blanket.
