That House of Representatives Keith scalia's use a Republican from Louisiana congressman thank you so much for joining us this morning. I can write everywhere thank you sir tell me what you're anticipating the president will say tonight or at least what you hope he'll site. What I hoped the president would say that he's gonna work with congress to tackle some liberal problems we're facing in the country for the economy still sluggish. You look at the foreign policy crisis is not only on the move in the Middle East. But they're actually establishing foothold in coming into western countries they attacked Paris now they've attacked America and San Bernardino. But the president hasn't played out strategy should be that we stand ready to work with and they get that done but. But he hasn't yet. Expressed a willingness to work with congress shall this could be an opportunity for the president in his final year. To work with congress to tackle some really big items to get our country moving again to get the economy moving gonna get spending under control. Congressman the president has said that he would hit 2016. And leave not everything on the field you know that he was gonna work right up until the end. Of his term although we have had a number of pundits on the at this morning to have said that this just becomes a legacy tour more than anything in that they don't anticipate anything will happen in 2016. Yet so often we've seen from the president's State of the Union Address is when they have been problems in the country. It just double down on many things well if you just talks about a differently people would understand that. Has policies to work and when they're not they're not working for middle class families we're seeing the shrinking middle class. The usual reasons why you know the economy is still struggling when you talk to small business owners the people. That should be doing a lot of hiring out there there have been a hard time even hiring people mostly because of the rules and regulations coming out of Washington Washington shouldn't be just. Others this bully this enemy that that makes it harder to get the economy move the nation. But abortion should be a place where you'd say okay let's. That's what America compete globally let's let's do the things we can do this to create more middle class jobs that instead of run in more jobs out of the country. And I just just kind of lecturing people about why they should be you know listen in to a big government approach that's not working. Congressman he's clearly says his leg herb many people thought his legacy was going to be and the wars and I Iraq and Afghanistan I think he's still miserably in the Middle East who what do you think kill hammer tonight. What he talks about foreign policy again I'd like to see him talk about changing his failed foreign policy it like you mentioned. You know he's he's had all these agenda item that he wanted to carry out we even when our generals our military generals on the field percent that's the wrong approach. I he just he kind of has this this attitude that he's gonna do it anyway because it's just. Some kind of score I'll point you want to put on the board and crisis is moving because the president allowed what they failed Syrian policy. That they're taken over not only parts of Syria they're moving into Iraq because people to the troops have tour with the general city look if you wanna pull troops out. But doing the Smart way don't just don't just allow terrorists to take over this country and he's done that. So you look at policies haven't worked. That's the first thing you should do is OK let's let's actually work with people who wanna carry out something different and protect America make America secure. In our foreign policy but when it's not worked so far. Congressman when you look back on this president's term give me one thing that you think that the president's accomplished that's been good for the country. And they give me one that you think that he's failed miserably. Well in terms of of things that are good for the country I do think when you look at the budget agreement from three years ago. It actually was successful at that reducing spending. The president wasn't crazy about it but ultimately signed it would congress and it's started reducing spending and in his first two years you saw huge escalation. In spending and borrowing that that became dangerous for our country but still we're not anywhere near what we need to be to get a balanced budget so we've at least reduce the deficit. Because a Republican congress insisted that we've got to reduce spending but I think his biggest failures they have of course foreign policy just tremendously. Dismal results in and how we're viewed in the world and and how terrorism. Is expanding in the world but domestically but a lot of these rules and regulations starting with Obama care agencies like BP A where they seemed like they wake up every morning and unelected bureaucrats just try to figure how to go after it and make it harder for American businesses. To create jobs in America it's real. He's seeing more bankruptcies just today big. No Arch Coal file bankruptcy mean these steps because of the government has been going after American businesses that's not how Washington Post war washing Stosur. Help create more jobs grow the economy and instead it's making a lot harder. Congressman we also anticipate tonight that there's going to be an open seat in the first lady's box and this is going to be us significant. Where it comes to gun control issues and no doubt that will be discussed how do you think that will be received. This just shows where the president's satisfaction mean the president wants to talk about divisive issues that are tired of the divide the president. Barack Obama campaign said he was gonna unite people. They cannot give a speech without try to divide the country if you really believed in gun control. He would try to move legislation through congress is his first two years we get a supermajority in the house. And the supermajority in the senate he didn't try to do that but instead he's every time there's a shooting instead of praying for the victims. The president actually start mocking now those of us who pray for the victims of gun shootings all the wants to do is talk about gun control its San Bernardino. They they didn't even know who the shooters or what the motives work and the president was within an hour talk about going to control turned out it was a terrorist attack. And the president doesn't wanna talk about fighting terrorism because his approach to fighting terrorism has failed America probably focus on actually doing his job keeping America safe. And I try to be divisive and they'll say look America wants gun control law abiding citizens buying guns is not the problem in America. It's terrorists coming to America in this presidents sitting by and not taken that threats seriously. We're talking with majority whip Steve's police from Louisiana thank you congressman so much for being part of the show this morning we appreciate it thank you. Can greatly what you thank you sir.
