And we are joined this morning by representative Jim Lyons from Andover representative. Good money you know I'm terrific thank you we appreciate you being on a looks like you took a little bit of I will push back yesterday on the house floor. Are you don't delude politely debate I and I happen to enjoy that. Yeah so let's talk about this budget 339 point one billion dollars you were not pleased with the spending habits in this budget. I think quote what what happened since April when we originally cut the budget. You know revenue projections. Have shrunk and with basically your vote. 900. You know at the estimates are anywhere from 500 troop billion goals what look sharp fall in in revenue projections and and my concern is that this is they've. A real wake up call that we have decreasing revenues and we need to really take look at how he spent a text owns. And one of the issues that I have been. You know basically talking about since I was first elected that. Five years ago was how much money we're spending on folks who live in the states. Who are not here legally and how much are those benefits costing the taxpayer it's. You know some estimates that those perpetrated decide it's our salute their part to which Israel political two billion all of and I think we're going to be upfront and transparent and audits of the expense. We ought to tell them exactly what that stole much of it is. And and and let them know that you know all of the state budget a certain amount of this is going to people. Who basically are all about legal residence. It will be so this so. Orbital Massachusetts sovereign is that as one of my it might issues let's make sure we know what that is and I think. Such an area we will focus our Miller a couple other issues. In what they call the ultimate sexual potent ones to do it don't driver's licenses. Of and Motorola people who would not legally yeah undoubtedly be giving driver's licenses are right I think that that's an issue that we ought to be discussing. In more detail than other income other culprits will pull it in in the Kurdish it was up to be a local racial purity and dole or. But it can't exceed current state which is. A local communities can deal with. Oprah which is so little benefit to the credit. Created by local communities and build you know logical communities. Do not meet the state legislature just tell them what they can and can't do as far as of the in the little state politics so a little loop through generally and particularly but I. But I spoke odious and it. Representative at some like the Charlie good morning to you a happy holiday weekend. Thank you. I I guess where would you go back to the top of the less than that is the issue with regard to illegal immigration in this state. And what I don't understand. Is the push back. From let's say representative. Balls are from Newton. A Democrat who says that you know people. You know there are I defy anyone to say there are people who don't have a right. To live with us in this great state of Massachusetts and I think obviously he would say they'd be addendum to that quote should be. Whoever is here legally. And I don't understand why people would have a beef with your argument because. There are people certainly in the mental health sector in the education sectors Kim and I we're. Speaking about few minutes ago. That. Get hurt by the fact that we're spending money on people who are not here legally I mean isn't that wouldn't you make that argument. That is the argument that those making that and I gave a very specific example yesterday. Recently I was so campaigning and someone who's very upset at me about the fact that. But he did not have as you pointed it did you that is focused on. You know the mental health issues in the incident and clearly another important mission field in addition to other report issued. But dispersant was really concerned that in their schools. But it did not. The right type of language teachers and that there are children would. Able to take a look you know special. You know languages and then in addition that this person says that's because you Republican. Don't want a fun bit. And vegetables hustle until you know I have children who went to school system and I want the best phone for work for my children what the folks were there. Children of my district tested so the question is. You know in Massachusetts and this is limited to this particular photo of your private choice between paying work. A teacher in a local school are melt of metal help of care facility or recovery home falloff. Funding people who are living here illegally. The decision is simple. Wish to fund our own citizens forest. And it's it's in that style which he went in the number two. Would not even telling the Kabul to the taxpayers of Massachusetts. So we're doing that and I think that's the first thing let's say that the citizens of Massachusetts. We're cutting your teachers were cutting your recovery services were cutting. You mental health services and at the same time with funding all kinds of people that are here illegal are establishing that strong. To the tune of two billion dollars he sat. Well their estimates of this that 5% of the state budget. 2011. I rate decision of the touch to what the solution at the time the patch it ministers refused it was the information. Well ultimately. They gave it throws invited via our own definition back in 2011. C we spent 250 million balls. On helped give them the in her efforts to cut. You know structural deficit that they have inherited from the Patrick administration. You don't have have tightened up the climate and a working to try to reduce the spending that was an area that they focus. And if in the course budget and I think it's really important that we are. That we are open and transparent about the budget that the Kabul looked at taxpayer is nowhere money's going. And when we're taking a budget opal of the budget. We have to make choices that I think it's important. That in in this budget and going forward. Since we have revenues that is shrinking. People go to the Petraeus is elementary. And I right now I don't think people are aware of that. I'm talking there representative Jim lions have been out the house have to get 39 point one billion dollar budget yesterday representative talked it was about this driver's license issue because. IC that as. Just opening a pandora's box. But amid the concern that I had above what they're good for your Credit Suisse. To cool water which is what you would you just mentioned opening up a pandora's box deck about ultimately be. Two additional spending and other benefits. Two people who are not necessarily illegal and I think that's fortunate you know. We don't really have the Egyptian and second of all the language. And I know that there is. Heroes I know that the administration is working on making sure that the language is clarified. That the language that I saw yesterday was that the decision. Are ultimately is left up to the registrar. Now the register obviously works over the under the the administration would be bigger the Republican administration now but. I know if by the fact you're valid under the default Patrick administration for what it will open it would would have very little control. Global food getting licenses in this state which then leads to identification. And benefits that all current book file was gone. I don't think we should be doing that. The way we did it yesterday I think we should have a let's let's bring it to the war let's debate it let's talk about it. So every member of the of the house knows exactly what's going to happen here in that was a real concerned about it I think. Quite frankly I think there's a lot of people that are concerned about this particular edition. Yeah that was a writer on a much bigger or you know if that and that's how those things slip through isn't it. Your beat the Democrat. Historically. Have and abused. This process for me and Helio are July 4 weekend it's mother's love a lot of people you know who was sitting around. You know thinking about whether. You know there's there's going to be a lot of illegal folks folks are receiving driver's licenses. And no I believe that we still have time in this legislative session. To address the issue to make sure that everybody's aware of but it makes sure that the public sort of a so. My question was so what happens some of those for the registry to heat their registry. To get a driver's license and what it says the registrar. That is the registrar that'll look at every single application from. You know from from everybody that's making an application or is going to be the colored people that are making those decisions and you know we're talking about giving driver's license to people who are here. You know without proper documentation I think we have a picture that we have a process in place that's gonna protect the public. Title I left we don't a lot of hot. Jim but I I just think a story like that or an issue like that. Is ripe with the potential fraud and how anxious to. If I score so important it people have no idea how important it is you know who's getting a driver's license and who's now. It. Represented we have to leave it there were up against a break thank you so much for your time this morning in good best of luck on that floor no it's pretty tough. You give you get the to gloves on don't Jeff. We'll tell you know at this that I enjoy it I encouraged by democratic colleagues to engage in to really debate you just because I think. The ultimate beneficiary of that that taxpayers most of those questions and have a breakthrough cancer. Thank you very much plenty of.
