This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong didn't show Oksana. Tour exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus give breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chunks. New England fans. We've become a I don't know pretty spoiled if you ask me hi everybody ferry and shot him. We've got five Super Bowl three World Series rings one NBA championship even got a Stanley Cup out of the hapless Boston Bruins. But it always was this way you know you backtrack. Back into. I don't know 86 through. The end of the nineties two thousand is an ugly death and if it it really was it was a terrible fifteen year period the war. New England sports but now the last fifteen years. Pattern all we will be taught our grand tour. About that game last night isn't just remark white I don't know about you guys I did. Kind of given up on the game not you brilliant as walking around turn lights off turned on the heat loss of ninety. Get ready for bed actually watched the second half of the game. From bad is it fear well Atlanta score one more time in the largest tornado. Added I did you turn off. I did not Chara marriage Byron my wife to her credit wouldn't let me she was huge wave works but the. I'll be honest when it was 28 to three on in there and I'm saying look. I don't know if there's a good chance of winning. But just make it competitive game if it ran it just just go to our Philadelphia like look let's get this to within a touchdown there they disappoint capture. Active they missed the point after that. Anyway. You know we are right joined by celebrity to. And pat how should we referred to truck going forward no expert Thomas sharks sharks for Obama's chops for Donna the you know a lot of people made predictions. On the game and I did my part as usual my prediction was completely. Yeah I guess the falcons are thanking idea well look I did my part and I need to. That on Friday all of us were making predictions on the game Tucker you thought that the patriots would win chuck. You thought the patriots would win the shock went so far. As to predict the score of the game. And we're gonna play the clip for you now. I don't know anybody else. That accurately predicted score of the game I'm sure somebody at their dated but with let's hear this clip and then will have to give trucks and kudos. Tucker well pats pats pats pats by a six in Angola falcons I got path by for 20/20 four I think it's a law now for the pats the fact that I. Picked the falcons 3428 pats. That was sharks got a greater. Accurately predicted by the way president trump said they would win by eight so you even did the president he would present at the right team. But it EU had the be the correct spread in the patriots covered the point where it's allowed people patriot fans made money. The record fans are happy Vegas probably is that happy I know there was a lot of money I was like 61% more guard of the past week was tilted a little bit the pats out in Vegas so. They might again ruled pretty thought they were making big money to imagine that if you're a bookie. You thought you were just gonna rake it in right up until. Well to the Antalya and I mean Lou and until that last made it pretty much did you guys think they're gonna be stagnant any shot after halftime everything had to were gone perfectly and it did but no I was in feel very good at all. There there are a bunch of us sites out there that do this up probability tracking in real time. And when the patriots went down 28 to three. Atlanta had in 99 point 70%. Chance of winning I came by the way Vegas apparently and this is according to. A couple sports books out there this is from William Hill US. Pretty much the patriots winning that game. Absolutely destroyed. Vegas sports books I guess they just got absolutely cleaned out. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch again. Right now it is fifty. I did you guys gamble on the game. I hope I actually did the first time ever cast abet and one about the the pats spread. And I but Tom Brady MVP so. Whole CU won twice yet. So we'd like how much did you wait here Hamachi I wagered 75 and walked away with 95. 95 dollar profit. Correct not gestures not like drafting tonight if I know like 95 dollars Alaska now that's good that's good. Well the players walked away some now if you were on the the if you were on the winning team last night you 107000. Dollars today locked up after three hours of work if you can get it right to it but they also won money because that's it I believe they also got 49000 dollars for winning the conference games. And then they would have won another 2927000. Dollars for winning the divisional. Yes I mean overall you look at the players on the patriots they've gotten close to 200000 dollars through the playoffs that they wouldn't have. Otherwise and you figure look for a guy like Tom Brady who's you know probably worth somewhere in the ballpark for a quarter billion dollars or something like that rate. It's probably not a huge deal you know his wife makes Morton and anyway so it's you know it's pennies form. But for some of those guys who were on rookie contracts were the making 400 or 550%. Both. Do the practice squad players in any of this money. A question I'm sure they get some sort of a bonus I mean that they do help out practice and snowed eight and everything that beat up via right exactly look at a guy like Michael Floyd who didn't even was an active view that he you need right wreaths. And he was making me two and a half million bucks yeah years he was our Olympic contract so practice squad players do not receive playoff real money but they do you continue to get paid for the extra weeks that they wouldn't have all the there's a long affair doesn't that's not really know you're not on the team. Have you school ultimately at the scout team and era aren't that Wright says the ball boy get sure everybody gets everyone gets those you know she's Tucker where's this money comes. Sort of Bernie Sanders to get out mister Kraft James White. Make 654. A lot of people thought he should have been Meehan and he enjoys an awful lot of people knocking on his door after next year when. He's over he made 654. Just looking at some of the lower paid paid players say we're. You know the 200000 dollars a winning is meaningful. James White 654000. Dollars David injures he proudly played every offensive snap right designer Anna yeah because David injures he makes 530000. Dollars a year. Malcolm Butler this young man is gonna get paid healing me 510 this last year 510 dollars he's due for new contract this off season. So Malcolm Butler he's gonna get needs. Look Garret blunt he only made a million bucks Sox. Cameron funding him editors that they are bullet had can't stand them like god Cameron Fleming 600000. Dollars Matt lingo. But he put a couple downs yes that's a northeastern kid very sharply yesterday yes I summon you out here is active got an asylum in seem for that much 450000. Dollars. He made so. You know if you're one of those lower as them right that's real money for. 200000 bucks yeah Japanese tax and gone back James White I betcha he's concealed lot of endorsement opportunities this offseason in the New England area. Yeah I kind of similar to what Malcolm Butler had with the Seattle super ball those don't pay. Well and ordered you're gonna hit the cash register yet to get like an under armour and Nike to capture which won't happen if you're doing a regional spot for Dunkin' Donuts that it's him getting. Kind of Leo football Glover shoe deal nothing big but something new you know small. International yet nothing nothing huge collective you like someone like doing a football gloves thing with the likes of rules you know hero. You know whatever I. Something but it's not a football record for the most receptions. For a few more critics you're fourteen or and yet. You don't that is the sad thing news EU look at NFL football players. There's a group that did a study of 2000. Players with the American economic review. And they studied players who drafted by the NFL between the years 1996. And 2003. 15%. Of the players that played in the NFL. Are bankrupt within twelve years when they retire from football terrible. Financial management. Notes it is they just the you have a lot of kids do oftentimes group in situations where they didn't have an awful lot of money yup. And unfortunately just don't acquire the skills to be able to manage it properly and sometimes the league do anything they tried new and so here's some of the stuff that the league does is they have tried to place advisors in front of players in order to try to allow them to make a better adjustment. There was one guy forget the guy's name talker but wasn't there one of these guys who was brought in by the league as like a registered financial buyers who could help players. And it turned out that he was scamming players to. Like you you see all these people is trying to take advantage to guys by saying valuable put your name on a billboard we'll get your restaurant and all this. In the just do dumb things with their money and it ends up. Look not everyone's Michael Jordan and so your name doesn't go scores you think it does and so yeah you can put your name on a steak house but no one's gonna go for it's not any good and that these guys actually want or restaurant. It's always really brilliant with their money in you know it grow to his his his father's Rob Gronkowski. Just spent a dime of this patriots contract money he's only that's an endorsement in how Busch's teammate does look and he's got eight million year ballpark just externally mil more proud that's discounts yep grow to about eight million a year in that ballpark. Well it'll be itching to see have a managed the team going forward you know the the rest of draft picks right they're gonna trade grapple rules saying on our. Lot of buzz about Chicago going after dash card has got to go hard at our third pick would look awfully nice to San Francisco. Cleveland the possibility very strong possibilities and I don't think they'll treat them that's and other historians. When we come back or talk about how slipping it is back that's right. Flipping houses like it was 2005. Is making a comeback. Is this a danger sign should you be worried. By the fact that house flipping is becoming in vogue once again that's our next topic from our insurer match dot com studios. Breaking business news daily only. What's flipping houses is all about. Yep flipping houses is generally thought of as. Buying a property usually fixer upper of some kind. Investing money into that either through your own time and effort hiring someone well do the work they in the old days there was no investing the money. Yeah you do bias and flip it. They you'd you'd buy it if these audio and and say hey you know we can we could probably sell this for next 1020000 and called it dead right in what would be done within twelve months in what even today it's typically done within three to six months. Where look you put in a new bathroom or new kitchen whatever needs to be done and then you try to turn a profit on a net of what you put into the property. And it became very popular back in time that 04207. Range. Where he had cheap money easy money not your credit was just about everywhere and he saw a lot of people get into an awful lot of trouble it's one of the one of the key causes. Of the run up to the how. Of course it's well you know when you sought before this is before your time but back in the eighties you saw with condos in New England. People would buy condos really in they would flip condos back in the 1980s really I had a lot of friends that in the 1990s. Early 1990s. We had a banking crisis that played into the S and L crisis right it really did and Alitalia the that was ugly used to seed in the early 1990s. You'd open up the newspaper guys in the air would be section in 9293. A full section. Auctions and foreclosure sales really in it was auctions you would go. To place and you eat goat who I went to one in New Hampshire was on Christmas violent. In New Hampshire in the early 1990 it was 1990. It Christmas Island had a bunch of condos and Christmas islanders on Lakewood at this hockey August August day okay Blake and the sake. Inning in and there was an auction in UN in dues held in a restaurant. And he had an opportunity to walk through some of the condos that you were bidding on. These are Condo struck that were selling for 27280000. Dollars yup I bought one page 90000 dollars really now eight that. That's what happened in New England during the late eighties you had this boom and bust in condos. Then it happened again but it was up you we have less of a real estate bubble in the wind. Wasn't appear so much it was a lot down in Florida it was Al on the West Coast in Vegas and places like the idea what Arizona what makes me a little nervous here and again not we're going quite the same way. But there's a quote here. From truly is chief economist Ralph in the golf world. And Ralph starts off and he says we think it's a little bit different this time anytime I hear that yeah my antenna kind of perk up because it's always. Well it's not quite the same look. But point out woody says for the reasons that it's different so he's hit back in the aid in the previous flipping aaron's. No work was being done on the property yet he says that what you're seeing here is that a lot of the flips that are happening. Our value added improvements such things like in a bedroom or bathroom or kitchen being redone and things like that that actually add value to the house. He's probably not wrong men at a certain point. The cheap credit dries up. The lack of demand at a certain price point then and eventually you can't play that game of musical chairs anymore eventually you wind up being the one without a chair and you're stuck there holding a property that. You don't want it there's a theory about millennium goals that is somewhat. Derogatory would you like me to share. Birdie which won and there's a lot about us this if this derogatory. Millennial. Theory I think he actually has some accuracy but I am curious to hear your perspective because you are in fact millenniums and I am not. The derogatory theory is that you guys. Lack the skill. Ambition. And desire. To do home improvements and what I'm told by realtors. Is that millennial when they walk into a Condo for when they walk into a house and it has to be staged. It has to be ready for move in condition. And you guys don't even want. The badger you take the big you want it's it's gotta be and move in condition and pristine. Is that true where it and are the realtors picking on so well I'll let you decide. Here's what I've done around my house and you can tell me if this is up to snuff and I've painted both of the bedrooms. Now that meet that doesn't you don't get points for painting. I've built pantry. And that'll points not not a lot of points like my generation trek we would go in. We'd rip out the carpets putting I don't Matt Lawrence my floors are in good shape me a ticket. I'm how many bathrooms and be replaced why haven't had too because that he is at myself and that's the difference you seek. My generation will bond. We would've bought when I was in my twenties I buy my wife and we bought each crappy old houses because they're cheaper rate and then we would go. To Lowe's or Home Depot and on the weekends. We would spend all week and rehab in the house. Your generation what polled. Don't need cast aspersions in the run up to Macy's and painting applied and now all of a sudden I mentioned painting and that's not it was. The pain they are just again the a lot of I even had to do anything like I loud but you're you're you're gonna buy a house he would buy fixer upper and by day. A brand new ready to go pro and outline eagerness early pro something in between where there's a little work to be down but not necessarily everything I want it's been four years is rebuilding a place that's very. Well it is easy that was that's another difference my generation. We beat. That that was what we did on the weekends and then when we're done working on our house Reverend Wright walked on my buddies and we were on his place finishes but. Like I don't wanna buy a place just for the sake of rebuilding it. I mean it look if if it happens to be agreed house and all it needs some work fine but I'm not gonna say hey any of. And you fix yet I think that the distinct difference in my generation. Right did the baby boomers that's what they did they sought out the bargains that they could rehab. And living and where's your generation and talked to date bait Mitt look at realtors trying to realtors. I know you folks listen to the show there's many view that are tuned in Texas 68680. Is. Once the home to be. Christine. Verses. I can tell you the baby boomers we used to fix up our place we have a lot BC don't do this is just one as derogatory comment regarding the whales. Baby boomers have play. Right we we we don't spend lots of really bad they're the ones that gave us all the participation trophies yes it did they just one point that so. Folks text us and and let us know if you have the same impression a millennium eye perhaps on. Picking on them without any lack lacking substance in in my idea. Beating up a millennium they just. There how the impression that he when we come back we're going to be talking about the 100 billion dollar reason investors love. Donald Trump's bank order. We also have trivia for you. Ronald Reagan would have turned a 106 years old today we're doing trivia questions based on the nation's fortieth. President. What was the top marginal income tax rate win wrote president Ronald Reagan took office in 1981. Now our text number is 68680. What was the top marginal tax rate when president Ronald Reagan took office in 1981. And just for the record the texts coming in as a relates to millennial. Seemed to confirm my theory that more land deals. Don't want to fix houses they don't pay the I think the sweat equity was the term used in here they don't have a great appreciation for sweat equity which I think. Chuck when could interpret is Milan meals really value their personal time perhaps to greater degree than baby news. It could be true I mean again I think that's. The other thing after members. Look millennial gets stereotyped from being an awful lot of things some of the stereotypes are dead on millennial typically want more responsibility earlier on the previous generations they think they're God's gift to the world and all that. That's generally all true because. Well we are of that gift you know we are that special it's just what we are. Fought. I do think that a lot of times and things like this there's there's more new wants in their particular. Part of what you have to remember. Is that a lot of baby boomers spent the last 2030 years fixing up an awful lot of houses there or that that many fixer operas that are out there anymore most properties on the market are in pretty good shape because boomers have done a pretty good job now doing a lot of that work so you know you're not seeing properties. That have you know forty year old kitchen as much anymore. And I think in general when you do you know sums typically coming in with a pretty strong cash offered millennial. Can't match that you know you're seeing a lot of us talking to a couple on Friday. And they live in a nice suburban community and they bought their house. Gosh 3040 years ago yup and they're gonna sell they're they're gonna retire you know wanna sell their house. They said. That vein are quite certain that their house will be purchased by a builder knock down and in new house brand new house oh really. That's that's more and more common in New England gap is not common in Arizona or Florida because you still want to land in those locations that you get. Unity in New England thing about the nice towns and in in urban areas or reality anyway there's just delaying the. What NEC's aloft not talked about the salon where if you go back 5060 years back to the mid 1950s. When the average size of the house was about 60% of what it was today. So easy so much is a home that was you know 12114100. Square feet. Knocked down and so puts the 2800 square foot house on the tiny while we're pretty much fill in the whole thing. And you sit there and Sybil who wants to live there if people still pay a premium sport in the line meals are having smaller fame. Yeah it says more fairways bigger houses right elbow five bedroom colonial but he only got two kids. When he leaves space for well Kelly that's that is what's happening today at the you know the VMware size and birth rates. Have declined so much though I do believe. That we're gonna Lauren 2016 was a big year for births in the baby boom common knew what I think the I think it was delayed write like you need the economy was pretty bad there for a long time. But last year was the first year week it's a pretty good economy. Is actually my favorite text millennial smoked too much we'd be able to get off the couch or comprehend how to do the work of because that's accurate yet man you actually beat my generations more smoked more read in your Jerry I'll easily baby boomers smoked a lot more dope. So put that in your pipe competence. If I want to marital by the time it's all that and I wanted to be pretty even highest marijuana use was back in the seventies. That is an early it was like 7172. I think is what people below new as a reason please now. I just you know and that would. And texture. Boller may vary when it went on and you know how we come and do work talkers it's so I'll. If the munchies to. The 100 billion dollar reason investors love Trump's bank war. You know this broke on Friday. When Donald Trump. Signed the executive order saying he's going to. Repeal. And replace Dodd-Frank. And that's anyway it's bank stocks rally significantly. On this news Friday yet they did and pretty much what this is. Is an order that potentially allows banks to reduce the amount of excess capital of their caring at this point. To lower levels which would allow them to either eight. Deploy that into new loans are being simply return that shareholders. It's a little concerning to me and I know we talked with Al where Kabul on Friday were we said look you know you can get rid of some regulations but what's actually build capital requirements a little bit higher. This kind of going in the opposite direction of that that this thing. Look let's reduce capital requirements in addition to reducing regulations. And it does give me a little concerned. Now that I. No I think what they're doing is the they win over the 8% say they had gone all the way down to about one and a half percent cap yeah we are down around 2% back in the mid 2000 stood in the averages under two. So then they said we have that 8% which was what used to be right 8% capital government cash via. And then the Fed was very inconsistent when they are examining banks they'd walk into a bank and the banquet table we've got 9% in the NC Abu we will have eleven. And all they're doing now is there if they repeal this and this is the amount of money you're trying to figure out which companies are gonna benefit the most. Citigroup JPMorgan wells Fargo Bank of America Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. The biggest one on that list of course is Citigroup and they were also the worst of the bad banks. Edit they wore it in this is I guess why I'm so concerned is gather caring more excess capital and anyone else but they have over the 8% but they haven't really proven. To this point that they can go back to where they were just get a bank won't go they're not they're not asking to go down 2%. No saying they wanna go to eat there this is how it starts. In his store before because this is the whole thing through the ninety's yeah we're ready percent but now it's always that maybe we only need 6% net elves and it's four Lleyton. You start just chipping away at it and eventually you get right back to where you work now a. I hope that's not the case. I'll be dead time that happens. But the in and so we the did not mean you may mean. People listening. Europe. Citigroup though it be in terms of how much excess capital they have 27 billion JPMorgan T gonna cast Wells Fargo sixteen billion Bank of America fourteen billion Goldman Sachs probably in a Morgan Stanley. Ten though that's the money folks just to put this in perspective. You know Bank of America with their market cap maybe 270 billion. They that means they could return. Capital equal to 5% of their market cap or they just buy back stock which would be the more efficiently it. Do you get to any concerns. With regards to doing that in the event that you start to see. Too much capital being return capital and access and of what banks are actually earning. They're still learning that you look at the earnings rates for these banks has been huge Oden is. The knee in and the president did say well they're not lending that's not entirely accurate I did some fact checking on that banks are lending. The the what they're not doing track and where they're hurting consumers. And this is the reason to allow them to return capital. One of the things that they're not doing is an up passing on any interest to the depositor no that is true it's even with the interest rate hike the Fed did in December now. Now there's been no passed through to this point it's been like an extra late. Need be two or three basis points like keynote 2.0 3%. Out of that up a quarter percent like is what we know I'll end the game not deter so. I I differ with you in terms of the capital requirements I think 8%. If you wanted to go to 9% and still have tremendous access capital. Right now they're running 111213%. Excess capital which is. So high and and now they're profitable. Then they're paying lots of taxes but they're not giving your mom and dad. Any interest on their savings source CD's so here's something that would make me feel more comfortable with this plan is we know that in the last eight years since the financial crisis. The big banks have consolidated more and more of the overall market. I think if you were to get some spin offs that you don't have so much concentration there and it's not such a systemic risk I feel more comfortable that was one of the big problems Bernanke Ben Bernanke pointed that out of these with the banks are going to be huge huge thing about the banks went away Washington Mutual was a Big Bang. Howard Sterns was a big bank. Gone well that always go down the acquisitions that he had and Merrill goes into Bank of America what cultures goes in countrywide and like you just had all this consolidation in the air. And probably can beat our right to meet Canadian banks are all very large banks but they're all very well like they have strict requirements they are and their run like utility companies yeah it is CEO of the Canadian bank the same size is an American bank might make a 1000005 year over oh yeah CEO at American banks can make when it's it's a different. We are going to be talking to well at the we're gonna talk to. Emery zinc from Morningstar. Is it got to be a mutual funds election night with a different got a mutual fund here. Before we do that I'll talk about the fiscal hole that will test president Donald Trump's agenda. The new one point that I wanted to make out here. Ten years ago 6700. Americans turned 65 every day in those ten years ago. The number is now 9800. Americans are turning 65 every day. And any time I turn 65 which will be in 20/20 6111700. Will be turning 65 everyday now Donald Trump. To his credit wants to do a major infrastructure spend. The problem he's having his congress is gonna fight him his own congress is gonna fight him tooth and nail because they recognize these financial headwinds that are coming their way. One you have an awful lot of Tea Party Republicans in congress who were elected with a mandate to try to balance the budget. And the big issue that you continue and we've talked about this outline. The two biggest drivers. When it comes to the budget deficit over the next fifteen to twenty years movement arts Social Security. And Medicare it doesn't matter what else you do if you don't fix those issues. The budget will continue to be a problem and so what you're running into analogy of an awful lot of congressmen. Who are coming out and saying not coming out saying but they're privately saying. Look we'd love to get behind an infrastructure plan. But our constituents want that's to be fiscally responsible. Will they do a Social Security men and they do because I don't say no I think they should but. Went in the last twenty years as congress showed any spine to tackle the difficult issue Ina men who need it but the problem is chock. It's three times as bad today. As it was when Reagan dealt with in the eighty's yeah. It's three times put it. I'm right there with you it's just do you trust they're gonna do anything I do not trust congress who's partly to throw them. That your family pace after you passed away. Yeah you know certainly that's not a reason to doing that you're darn right I'd like to say avoiding estate taxes maybe is the number one reason. And I think it's important for people realize that that with the state taxes federally being high. You can never forget about the state in the state estate taxes so yes there actually is and what you should do is. I'm assuming before you pass away. You know you should have these trusts in place in if you create these trusts whether their regal couple or irrevocable nature depending on your wish. Ever were talking here about the fidelity total bond fund can you talk to our listeners. About what this fund invests in and wire highlighting it today. Yeah I was so it's really a corporate strategy which means that has the flexibility allocate different you're noncore assets. That is high yield and emerging markets and in particular talking about it today because in 2016. It was here that really exhibited what the fund does. Read your assets performed well but it went into without that help them find. Neal Ford and ill hit we've entered his team they're really firing on all cylinders. Not only did they make and I expect allocation to think that they are under way richly valued mortgages and overweight to credits but the into the company until. There's security reflection and it positioning with the spot on I had about like about five per cent allegation I yield investments in Argentina Brazil and flail about how well. They had about 8% in high yield which is really siblings factor for the year out. Goalie in front of fifteen he doesn't take inherited an oil prices. Figured if pinpointed that early on they were underweight materially added do you personally I playing means we can airport again. But he recovered after the draft and really integrated secretary mayor. And then of course they were also. Hit on it didn't have that invested in longer dated ten and thirty year treasury inflation protected securities. And all of that drew added up to nearly a topic department to get up at six exhibit you know what they do about it. Everett taking a look at this fund obviously bond funds one of the things people of struggled to try to generate the last couple years is yield what kind of income does this generate with some of those riskier assets. I really withdrawn into. Mortar more than the act put something that I I alluded to in his eyes and outlook and in particular they're very different continent America going to. Kelly you know you know to be healed and tired the income is higher. Is that they're really going through with their fundamental analysis they're really weighing whether the volatility that we're now that's where they put any into. The portfolio. Say it is riskier investment. That's part of the mandate but they're very. Rich content of their approach to it. What investors have become very the conscious in the last couple years after you know people hadn't really paid a ton of attention to fees previously. What are the expenses associated with owning this bond. Oh. No load here have a forty I've been at this point. Well in different actively managed to bunt and particularly in the intermediate term bond category there that the prank on the planet quite apparent test. Very good Emery thank you very much for joining us today. A problem you are Emory zinc from Morningstar the fund that we just talked about was the fidelity total bond fund. And the ticker on it is FTV. After. Tough place that make money in a rising interest rate environment unity if you look. You know if you it's you have to go out probably three years before you could forecast a leveling off of interest rates. Sify get the Fed's going to be working against bond funds for seventeen. Eighteen and nineteen at least that's my projections. Yet have a little bit high yield does tend to mitigate that somehow just does he get a little bit of a premium there and also you know. To be honest with you might not see that ten year treasury moved to too much in the next couple years of Michael up. Quarter half percent I don't know how much more moves you know it's not necessarily the worst ought to end up in that range. As opposed to shorter term bonds which makes them getting hit a little bit harder. He could have. Short term bonds not that much lower than ten years yeah our first night. And then three years after you're gone they get a divorce battle with half a 500000 dollars on a good. And so what we try to do is inside the trust again another family reason to do is they play a non tax reason to do and they plan. And and we inside the trust we create stairs for the children. And we have independent trustee if you will making one decision only. And that is in their sole discretion to make a distribution to the child. Or to the children in that sole discretion provides all the creditor protection that they need from the divorce in the future. T yet another Super Bowl championship that's five then what I've the last fifteen years and fourteen years for sixteen years sixteen years as last time they when they on the first one that was the winter of 2002. Coming off the 2001 season. Kind of amazing when you think about a guy like Brady right playing that long and high level. Under no one's ever done what he's doing those get decided uses no one else has ever done it it's it's been fun to watch has been a great ride. But I think now it's time to get back to business I got the Dow down three points any. The market is taken the day off to enemies the aid Boston schools for what. Two hour delay going in school I love that. I will if not if you're working Perry. Well come on that you would what do you know how much productivity is being lost today all. I have I have a job but he was over my house he lives down in the dock Copley Place area in Boston. He sent me a video last night as he was going home probably left I don't know half hour forty minutes after the game that he's outside his place when he gets home. In the urges people. Running in screaming through Copley Place just like has been like it's not like two or three people it's like. There's fifty people in the screen and it just keeps going into the lake. No there's no way and learning no doubt get a lot of work to the amount of lost productivity today is probably second only to be lead up to the NCAA. Tournament those first two days you know and I feel bad for is tonight's the first night of the Beanpot. Hopes I that's bad timing can't talk about maybe add a million dead by 630 in the Beanpot is a great take. They give you like O'Hara and his oh as it's it's good as it gets it. You know I would. I wonder I don't watch it. Sin and just take a look and see how many people actually go to the game tonight crowd's going to be fined out yeah you know he did you have ever been by taking a big ego pretty cheap today. A lot of that yeah it's a fun time too by the way if you haven't done at all. I used to go all the news terrific. And the first night was always the best night of the of the two nights it is tonight in the next Monday. Yet Beanpot right now look at on stub hub and there are two dollars 310 tickets available. And the cheapest ones are. Morton I thought actually 48 dollars really yeah I would expect to see something in kind of that point 530 range of maybe they'll get snapped up pretty quickly these days must be a Hollywood. I really messed this one up was. Tucker when has it that the Red Sox announced David Ortiz was. Number Friday June 23 but it was it was like a week and a half ago yeah and Oregon who we are on the air and we we finished like right after and I went to stub hub and I was looking at tickets for like 45 dollars now is that dads I don't wanna spend the money. I looked like a couple days later in the saint tickets were like 212. Dollars round like wide image by that now reads like welcome. I was thinking about doing that to us I went up like twenty dollars within half an hour three outs and carefully but. Not happy with myself user that ticket traders. Apparently. I don't know global. They who's having an on and and normally this would be a big announcement I feel bad for Hasbro because they had a bang up quarter to bang up year. And everybody's overlooking it because it's in all the Monday after the Super Bowl in their company based in New England. But heck their stock is up thirteen point eight. Percent to 94 dollars a share here they came in and they pretty much crushed every single number. That they were trying to revenue up 13% to five point 02 billing it's the first time they've ever had five billion dollars or more in profits here and net earnings up 22%. Year over year. I mean it just about everything coming in really strongly they guided well for 2017. You know pretty much everything for Hasbro right now is clicking on all cylinders Natalia. This a stock that. Pretty much since the middle of 2012. Has just been. Really clicking the stock was in the mid thirties then and it's more than tripled since that time now eleven billion dollar company. Mean it's an amendment tell right. Yeah I mean that there are two big guys out there in the toy space right now you know you've got some other ones I mean Disney is on its own toys they outsource a lot of that with the Hasbro makes guys. You know the start or stop his license that the Hasbro and things like that so you know you you get some from what other other. Places but it's mostly Hasbro Mattel and we talked last week I think that I Mattel is really struggling actually. They are continuing to find no traction for some of their legacy brands like Barbie and so. No the company's struggling is Tiffany and company and did either you guys you both guys Turkey just got married in Tucker you're getting married did either view by. Your engagement rings from Tiffany no no. The military say that it happened and lately it's has its various aspects of the overpriced. Owns it it's ridiculously overpriced I didn't yet they pretty much hosed you and just about any one Horry knows that so. They they're never real real tough time attracting more shoppers there one. Be just because it's bridled at their low but can't they compete on price and no I mean it's not even close. They're like twice the water anywhere else so where did you guys go to buy your engagement. My local guy and yeah went to a local jeweler center. Had the how did you know like I would no one diamond from another's how did you get a grip on the foresees. A poet who would let's talk. I. Have not blocked it out on I'll cut clarity color and cost cost. The he'd figure a hundred dollars I lost oh yes this or that there's a ton of resources on line now so you know has been a multitude two bowling night you know and educator myself to the point where it was dangerous. And then went in and said look here's my apologies and trying to do what do you do for me. And go to more than one Jewelers just I would just one on pump it out and done you know on Italy to waste time except for the three years it took proposing a well anyway their stock is down. 3% I guess the big story was they had an ad in the Super Bowl. In and they fired again right before the end yet part of the CEO just prior to the ad running here and that's. You know it's pretty big deal especially you know when you're talking about buying super bull at five million dollars pursue which gets into the suitable. Out at him and half will. Who's a little bit older now he's in now when it crashed his dad. Our Christopher walkers were walking now as d.s and one out with him in not a cheesy yup Timberlake I thought they got one was good but other than that there's nothing you can put out Bieber. Now as you authorities pointless as spokesperson did it makes us T-Mobile and right now it's like innocuous which my phone because you've got the beads and MetroPCS. They had net. Today that I don't remember I don't remember. He they're advertising unlimited data and calling for thirty bucks a month ultimate prize I just think that it's. The quality at bats in the last twenty years and has just been straight down plummet dive and knows you know but you remember he's got the Budweiser frogs. Sharia is death the lizards and stuff you know you you remember the Budweiser Avago lots you know you know of course. Does not nothing original anymore there's nothing original anymore it's terrible. Macy's executives to get a lucrative exit package. If they are in fact taken over by Hudson Bay in your right by the way Hudson Bay is a fraction of the size they are 15 the size of Macy's. I didn't read anything confirming. That that was a real takeover. That might actually occur no but I'll tell you the Macy's exact have some pretty strong incentives to make a deal happen. Just because otherwise you know it's tough to see them continuing to operate in the fashion they have for the last. So bad Bordeaux I don't like he gave the go I don't like it. The new wave this deal works is the executives get base who went seven CEO gets seventy million bucks if you eighty cents eighty million. If the successful. In selling the company but it's. It's a terrible incentives for a CEO I had I agree has there's like pretty much what you've done when you set that incentive in place if you're saying look. It's more valuable for you spend your time trying to facilitate a sale now than actually run ran company better yet like if. By CEO Obama stockholder in the company I want you to build the brand and demonstrate what is really important to me when I buy company. Is I wanna see that you are capable of developing organic growth. He might say why do you care it's organic or acquired. I like organic growth because that. Deems to me that you that innovative research within your organization and that is something that's lacking sorely lacking today. He has so many companies like let's use Microsoft has case in point oracle is another one Cisco a buy by Bob. Right and DP they're not doing their own organic growth and that always I look for that when I buy company. There is a thesis that's kind of go around in the business community that one of the biggest reasons for that has been the proliferation of MBAs. Who our bill. And really keep the the whole concept of MBA programs they're built. In order to try to manage the numbers of the business rather than the soul and the creativity of exactly in and so because of that you get people come in and they simply cut just try to meet number right as opposed trying to build something in order to create new company create. You know way forward and and I I firmly agree with that that. You know the rise of MBAs and a professional business people are supposed to innovators and creativity. I think he's one of the biggest ships we've seen the last thirty years. Will businesses need more artistic and scientific people as opposed to the bullet and look look at Steve Jobs Steve Jobs. Wasn't the best in terms of heat and no I didn't finish college in British high school and as college you can tell your balance you left and right. But he knew what he was trying to build any new had to get people excited about to build and look at apple. Organic. Rate that's an organic company had they they buy companies you don't you'll see them by little divisions and things like that. But that is an organic growth company which is why I like the General Motors and organic growth company look at that when you're buying a company. Really do screen and figure out how much of their growth is coming organically as opposed to through acquisition. You look around the New England area look at a company like us Sam Adams Boston Beer company that's a company where it can't remember them by anybody. Haven't bought anyone what they do they said look we're gonna start making great beer in the eighties and now they are the largest American owned beer manufacturer and now I mean that's that's what it's all about is trying to find how you're gonna innovate to create your niche. Nolan doesn't anymore. Paid for F 150. Has a track. Called the raptor and I guess it's one heck of a truck we're gonna do a review of that truck with T Tim Stevens actually bear it's going to be a new guest scary and hall who take it one step further she's actually driven the struck in the desert social scene in full on experience kept cool at all it is M from six cnet's Roche aria okay well. My youngest son. And he has started a landscape business with a so I don't think I'm getting it back. I am in the market for new truck. And I'm hearing good things about the Ford F 150 raptor we're joined now by Annie Hall from CNET to give us a review of the truck Miami. Good good so. Tell us about this Ford F 150 raptor you he would you would you think of. OK you're seeing it you wanna don't act in the desert and deal in principle you wanna pour raptor is by our. What in the mode at a truck ever. No Jeb Bush you would done. It's so tell us about it and white what you liked about. Well okay there's a couple things about it a lot of it. But I am here is well those are all went from. 83 point five liter. V6. And a lot of people. Didn't know what it could be eight you wouldn't you know let it think it's still got that night. Well verbal. And without any power. Our numbers are honored you are and ipodder and out toward. And that mourned her hat in the previous generation right bigger and better gas mileage. And more power they're right there. Eagle the perfect. How they got a better mileage because of the aluminum bed. Yeah that's good credit out of my second line at bat out. And and again and I think actually have a light weight because of the truck to be rather. You've got. Better. And more hours in I don't it would probably would any right well. He's in entered it is now incredibly app that are at Eckerd and over the outlook in the center where they had it might happen. You know we're Orkut so concerned about how to do in the snow. After a regular wracked by Portland or I all had. Engineering you can put it in Q all. Bill and that it be in the open Bennett what he really got all. All. Robert earned. I think are. Pretty remarkable. What do we look at that in terms of price for one of these and they Dino. Act and yeah. 5055. Act. It. Art out when I'm out dollar then but when you in higher than that you closed at 70000 dollars. I expressed went out at sixty force that's kind of my ball park may yeah yeah I'll get a quarter of one that would. He shared via what what do you look what do you look at for mileage on that. You know I. Remember what it like I really drove it like today I didn't have a chance to try to add. And really take it out for any lot term mileage and that we indeed that you'd you'd get better I I would think probably enough. In the nineteen. Being at your being conservative yeah. Favorite truck and near each you know like the shabby either Chrysler dodge went with with just a. It. It like up pretty runner right out of the box and let me out how I do a lot of it's. Going to be able to track where I can. Go along the court both forehand. Run and get all night on that yet. I and I'd grab power we. Nodded back and that the raptor but. The rat out your locker at independent that and in the front and that's what make is that app across the desert did the right. They all act Opel. And re year. Which you don't have that. That would mean that really been in you getting any kind of like technical rock calling him up. Nudity bad or. Being able to really go up and over rocks at a record rate went up but when you look at what the problem but. With Iran having locker really help them get featuring. What day EU race is this like professional racing Cirque Anders amateur. There's money involved. They can. Oca. And let's sounds like a heck of a track. And who left the taken a closer look at a lot of room just go to the dealership in treatment for right thank you very much and he appreciated. I and it. So truck racing in the desert I didn't know that was the thing offshore. Heresy a fast and fears no no it didn't think so it's didn't think so I had to ask. Minimum wage me delivered the best we do growth in the years I was looking at some of the states. Massachusetts. Now has an eleven dollar minimum wage. And Connecticut has raised their minimum wage to ten dollars and ten cents to Vermont. Also up at ten dollars. Yeah you continuing to see us states are moving to significantly outpace what is happening on the federal level in which to be honest I think probably makes cents just focused different states. Have different cost and standards of living associate with them why should the government be involved with setting wait on saying if you're looking at it from a state vs federal perspective this at least makes more sense there again in the long run. Minimum wage laws tend actually end up hurting those lower wage earners in some cases not all there was actually a very interest exit not ready work. For minimum wage now they threw who'd be you know making eleven dollars and apparently elected you've talked about it. When you walked in I don't know an awful lot of people I mean I think about panera. Triple nice enough jobs pay like thirteen fourteen now via grocery store jobs are pantanal maybe there are maybe maybe it's the kids in the grocery stores where you might also see is things like you know farm hands and things like that if you're looking all small farms I would imagine a lot of those jobs are pretty close to minimum wage and. So you could see it in that aspect. But it again you you've got different standards in different areas of the country which I think makes more sense at least. And I'll tell that there's some interesting research that's being done now because you finally starting to see. Some differences in minimum wage and the reserves pretty interest in what's turning out. The first listener with the correct answer wins a 25 dollar gas card. How many Supreme Court justices. Did president Ronald Reagan nominee and again our text number is sixty succeed. You're gonna have to explain this one to our audience truck. Higher jobless rate. Suggests that the economy has room to run so. Last Friday. When we reported on the Bureau of Labor Statistics on employment report came out unemployment went from four point seven to four point 81 would normally think that's a bad thing. And it might be for where things are today but I think where I tend to look at the season and really what this article suggests. Is that look if you have a lot of people who are either underemployed or unemployed and you potentially have a lot of room for improvement which is you know it's it's a reasonable case to be had. Where I question. The overall thesis here is when you take this in the context of some of the other statistics that we have you productivity has been terrible for so long. You continue to see wage growth being stubborn right now. There's room to run but until there's a catalyst. I don't believe anything's actually happily there's nothing nothing is changed to really push that forward at this point not well yet what would that catalyst being. Tax reform than we've been talking about for the last three to four months now. That's what would finally get things moving amateur gonna get tax reform this year I don't know we are. I'm starting to be very discouraged about it. Well at outside if you're president trump and you're just thinking politically let's just back away from the economy. You're thinking politically. The really important year for the economy is the year you're running for your second term in office right so that. Third and fourth year of your administration is when you want the economy to be doing really well. And what presidents have historically done is focused on the economy. In the third year so if he's Smart woody does is he says hmm okay. I get through all my nasty stuff this year rate the immigration stuff has been unpopular in the health care stuff is gonna be unpopular to do some. Things that are generally. Going to be perceived by many as unpopular though already done it up when he seventeen TD a bad stuff. In 27 team then you get your tax legislation passed in eighteen but it doesn't go into effect until nineteen. That's what I would. The problem is you can't really bank on the yeah you can't bank on the economy being in the same shape it's in two years now what if all of a sudden. In eighteen you start to have a downturn not because of anything that Donald Trump is doing but just because business cycles tend to cut were kind of getting the point where you say hey is there are cycles come to an end here and there's no LEI that on the news when I say Ellie I'm referring to leading economic indicators nothing that I'm looking hat. On the horizon. That tells me the wheels are gonna come off in the next. Twenty months 24 month old Cuban mine that's a long way away at this point and if he did tax reform and it went into effect in nineteen not eighteen. He goes in nineteen that means the market rules are responding to that. Probably the middle of next year the market will respond in a positive fashion just knowing that tax reform I just don't think you're gonna get tax reform. Ian. In in twenty. Seventeen and in going into effect on in 22 I think it's I think you really look at 29 and I just think it's tough to try to plan for something two years out because you don't know what things are gonna look like and you don't know if you're gonna have the same political capital you don't know if you go to have the exact same economic situation. In my view has always been look if you have an opportunity to get something done when you take it because you might not get that opportunity. Again down the road either could pass it and do what bush did if you remember George Bush said. Okay we'll give you some of the tactic to violently he lower taxes but who's going to be feast and you remember that is going to be favorite in two year period and dollars over like five or six years. In the audio won't yet he accelerated congress accelerated the bush tax cuts because of 9/11. After 9/11 us right that's what it the wheels are coming off we better get these tax cuts through to people right away and they did I think that's also when he made his famous beat the best thing you can do right now is go to a mall start spending money. You know it's he is some truth to it appears that. Hey don't forget about the leader bank they have. A zoom or rewards account earlier in the show truck and are talking about how the banks are paying me any interest with there's one exception. Leader bank is paying interest as a matter fact. Leader bank will pay you to penetrate two point 05%. Annual percentage yield. On Zuma rewards account that's on a balance of up to a maximum. A 50000 dollars woody getting for interest from your bank hub it's not two points or 5%. Called leader bank and learn about there's Zuma rewards checking account yet 1% carry cash back on your debit card purchases. There are no ATM fees so you could use an AT and in Wisconsin. And they're not gonna charge you. And AT&T yeah two point 05%. Annual percentage yield on your count. You have to make at least a thousand dollars in direct deposits. You have to have at least eight debit card transactions per month and you have to sign up for electronic statements but it's a heck of a deal. Two point 05% on your savings take a look at what you're receiving now. And I promise you that bush yet as it would not getting two points or 5%. Called leader bank their phone number is 8776917900. All three you can call 18776917900. Local prices are coming down there for your love yes very. Good news for us and yet you had a bumper crop from mom relatively calm weather in West Africa where you get a lot of cocoa coming from. And as a result. Cocoa prices as you mentioned. Pretty much at a four year low 2052. Dollars per metric ton which I would love to be able to order a metric ton of cocoa at some point. In my life and actually take delivery. Quote prices are down in consumption just. In Chinese or violence cocoa America's lead or not have slowed down on their consumption of chocolate you know Americans are doing is there. Buying and I find myself guilty of this I don't buy and walk in and buy you like Hershey's chocolate bar anymore now I've become a snob a balloon Scott. I'll be all right if tried and no I usually go to the Agra shoe store they usually have just these blocks of dark chocolate that are on Brandon just like. Hey here's some near dark chocolate there's a market basket. This is top job Rio and altered by its like at. Probably eat maybe ten ounce on the chocolate that I just sit there with a knife numbers if that's not very much up from ten folks ten pound. Maybe maybe it's a pound maybe two count somewhere and it's like maybe says like a brick now that's not hold that's. Alonso last. 23 weeks and that's the that the 23 weeks you know I love John by to talk with a dates you know healthy that's what I tell myself Mona. Drug prices rose 11% last year yikes the front is gonna go after this he is and up pretty much yet drug prices up 11%. What what's interesting though is when you look at drug prices as a percentage of overall health care cost two relatively small piece the pride. Hi seeking go after drug prices. And try to get them down the problem is they're not the biggest driver health care costs it's hospital cost it's salaries it's things like that. Those are the biggest drivers when it's all said and done as well as you lose the drug acquisition process when you go through like pharmacy benefit managers and things like that. It is a hugely cost intensive process and I'll tell you if you know what you can attack drug prices all you want try to get them down. That's not gonna be the most meaningful thing in terms of actually reining in health care costs. New London county in Connecticut is the most economically depressed county.
