Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news and every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone Barry and shock are off today John Moody along with Michael Armstrong and Tucker Silva. The one to beat team. The test of the financial exchange death. That Jason Wolfe has bragged about. I don't sell yourself that this. Good morning everyone now and again happy say that it's great to be with you. Mike we get some some numbers up on the economy today not a whole lot but I think it is a little bit telling. Real quickly industrial production unchanged nothing exciting there are slight disappointment. On industrial production. Capacity utilization and attested you know how our room. Or getting utilized in terms of capacity of production. Down zero point 1% to 75 point four still a good number. And consumer sentiment this is this is Barry Armstrong least favorite number. From the University of Michigan which which we both believe this influenced by the success of the wolverines but as we think when the University of Michigan. Is really kick in it in the playoffs and in tournaments but the numbers higher. And when their when their dad it's lower. Or win a graduate like Tom Brady is not doing well number. But anyway it's it's basically 97 point six. Up a little bit but a good number overweight Lehman could. This I mean pretty solid number I think there's just think that kind of reflects the I guess hesitation in the marker and a holocaust hesitation but just. Kind of a wait and see approach as we have a lot of different political things going on right now as a lot of businesses I think artists. Sitting back and saying. I wanna see what happens with the budget analysts who happen corporate tax reform wanna see what happens with Health Care Reform whole slew of different items that are just. Causing corporations and consumers some consumers to just sit back and say let's take a step back and just. We'd see it as sort of that in between period with the euphoria of good things that may be coming. And maybe there are good things coming aware that in between period where. We're just like not much is happening yet the party finished two days ago hangover just about worn off at this point and yet now have when you're setting and fair and what's really happening and waiting for the invitations for the next party things that are concerning here though. Along with a strong stock market we have a slumping transportation average we have flat fish oil now what you'll if the economy was about the boom. Would be taking off beat we should've put a a demand pushed we don't see that happening down. She's just to the Dow Jones transportation average is down three point 1%. In the last month while the Dow is up one point five and suddenly goes beyond the before your ear for that very would recall is the Dow theory goes back about a hundred years. It says that a stock market rally cannot be sustained if the Dow was running ahead by itself. Without support of the transportation average going to a subsequent new highs. Because you're a theory is stuff we have an economy he's been moved. People need to get from point a to point B and if if if the people buying stocks of things that need to be moved aren't excited. Maybe the economy's not as strong as people. Yeah and I think that theory might have been made me that still holds true to an extent that. When I think of the economy today in the number of massive US corporations that do not reliant and need physical transportation whatsoever. When I think go to Google FaceBook. A lot of big cloud computing software companies. For instance how Amazon makes all their money ams and to make any money out there. Physically moving products around and make all their money on cloud storage so. It's a may be a topic for concern. But I don't think it's necessarily read by this point. Excellent point the Dow theory preceded the Internet era by about nine years Fletcher said what is concerning though in an and the number that very looks analog to and I agree humanist. He follows insider trading him he wants to don't know what the insiders doing the people who you know have access to the information and and have maybe have a better knowledge of the company in the general public. The drop in insider trading that's a negative. And I think one thing is very concerning here or release of of of interest is that while the Fed. Is raising short term rates they raised to 25 basis points this week. Long term rates have come down quite a bit yeah what do you make of that. Well I think. Like we were talking about before I think there's a lot of people again looking at this market looking at the economy and take away the approach lot of people pulling money out of the market. Maybe going back into longer term fixed income products and just saying. I wanna see what my corporate once you individual in my corporate factories going to be here the next two years before making long term investment decision. That horse that probably thinking more about Saint Patrick's Day in the parade if it and they are about that once again though we should say there's a shorter route. For the southeast Saint Patrick's Day parade coming up this week in the Saint Patrick's Day parade will again fall as snow shortened route through something when marchers stepped off of Sunday. City a great officials announced they will be shortening the route due to public safety concerns obviously with the snow on the ground cold weather forecast for. I think it's about a couple of inches possibly on Saturday nights it could be messy. And Tucker sold the joins us now Tucker there is another issue here. Beyond the weather that's raising some concerns yeah I mean we read this arc. We're reading this article earlier John today and he knows about the shorter parade route and then at the very bottom of the article. As a quick mention that both liquor stores in bars would be closing early in the area of the yeah. The operates so like. Self boss and I believe it is so the liquor stores will be closing at four on Sunday in that area. And then the local bars in that area will be closing at seven now which is like ha. I was less than he has went expert I've never again. I was a kid I was actually born so all I know it's a total amateur hour thing it is yet but that being said do you think they should close these stores or bars. It's I was there. Four years ago you know yes I'd pick. You stop people. Pulling down your pants urinating in alleyways use the number of people that I saw with black eyes from getting its fights was just appalling yeah. Yeah go Ford closed the local bars make people go elsewhere go forth that's fine. Well it's probably a reality check I mean I don't know it doesn't take away a lot of the business from those bars and stores as well. It's their Super Bowl lid estimated that the bars maybe the bars disappointed but again he has the liquor stores don't worry they did just fine the last three days loading or Saint Patrick's Day and do fine all morning. With him when loading up on blues and brain. Tiny little flustered and Jack yeah I mean I can't find a toll understands the complete amateur hour which is why have never been a parade I guess at something at the witness in person but everyone should go India. At least the. Or issue is too with the weather I mean you know I know people are supposed to drink and drive it absolutely should not. But boy if some people did. Compounded by the fact that though the streets could be slowed him back to be pretty ugly see right but they we have a poll question because this is obviously spurred tremendous debate. Pro and con it what's the poll that we were talking we wanna hear from the people here our poll question on financial exchange showed dot com. It should Boston cut off both liquor stores and bars early. On Sunday's saint Patrick's paper celebration again that just in the area of the parade. Celebrations of financial change show dot com the capture vote now and so far 62 point 5% of our listeners are saying no. Authored some point 5% saying yes we should close early so we have a spirited debate and now we welcome your your input. Also keep talking about the weather and you know week week in inaudible Greater Boston are kind of an off the hook a little bit humid. Portland announced their third consecutive parking and Portland Maine. The yellows don't ban affected downtown areas who's just lifted this morning. A reminder that some areas in New England certainly got hit really hard place though. And finally that parking ban in Portland has been lifted so good for them. And if you want a red light in Providence. The city wants more time to send the ticket out of it I tell us more about this. Like the SO provost has been kind of revamping they have a number of different. Traffic. Traffic lights cameras incidents and people take to the islands in. He today's round that typical province government action. There's so many tickets they issue that they can't get him out and so revenue of fourteen days they would double that 28 days to get these tickets to people because apparently at one provinces right these lights every every minute they've got new ones now that they can relocate to different. Lights it's it used to be there to stay you know you're in one place they're stationary. And there would know about those people were right now switch and a couple weeks and again and again. I think that's an economic story because if you give everybody five tickets. You know that that basically pays your budget deficit is huge it's huge and the problems. Probably since they're giving out so many tickets they don't the process and now it's it's just a great story just completing its. Unbelievable what we have a lot more still to come of the financial exchange we talk about the oil markets like it's of Iraq become a strange really kind of surprising that. Oil is not more expensive than it has given what's happening without the markets Jack ED Angeles joins us from CNBC just again. Jockey the Angeles from CNBC joins us right now Jacqui thanks for joining us. I'm Michael good morning. Talk about oil and Jackie you know it seems that OPEC wants oil to go higher but oil fields not going much higher what's going on here. Right into an L at ul Haq. And looking at the marketplace. And they got that out of the I well after much debate many OPEC meeting. I decided at the end of last here what can implement a little bit over a million barrel I need one and Courtney and and not OPEC app that you are including Russia and the kind of need a light at market rate all the producer. Agreed that they want it and able they go out and implement the cut. We got. Out in. The end it it back dollars a barrel. I thought about that at all when he X dollar that's when they all we're really hurting a bit of a picnic. Was pretty. Both readers know analyst on Wall Street thought that we are gonna eat. We balance occurring I think even go higher. Than a year about a possible. A lot right now on the butt crack. Down. And even happened and the OPEC would ID act at the cutting mark Elliott well. You let production aptly been keeping our eye on steel producer here who are not part of the coordinate it accurate. And they were taking advantage. Higher I bet on oil they'll need it over nine million barrel as day. You mean I got a concern. That our on. It when OPEC. Jackie this fascinating and I think that explains it in and supports this theory and that is that. We're seeing the free market at work here and I think what we have is what used to be a rig market. With free market characteristics. That's trends transitioned into a free market with some great characteristics in do you believe that in. If if that is true. Are we involved now in price discovery trying to decide what is the collective price. Where the world can make a little bit of money on oil. Like they'll get the interest and dynamic. Per year and year of the earth and really let in Somalia. All the act of loyalty yet a lot higher in there and at what he gains would be leopard. Lacking. I mean we would hear jail production that nobody in a decade ago even really op. And happened and why you let the art or eight or are we don't we don't I. So we're treating at the free market we're looking at a higher priced at. And it really at the beach what the content here you know there will be up. What the air light that light I where can producer. To make money without all the eye catching and inward. A lot of I volatility that on the app they. I'd let you know political that we don't know apparently in the market they write back. All in it a little while they certainly would act at point that you made that. That dynamic a totally hit it here and attic because of what. They. On the app and it. There's no question about that that we look at Saudi be able to produce oil at lower cost than most other countries. And we look at the fact the technology is bringing down that breakeven point price in the United States pretty dramatically can guesstimate as to what you think the sort of global breakeven price is collectively on a barrel of oil. Elkhart I or many are there and opt out but what you lack you. Don't forget there's certainly a biopsy break even around they buried a company iron blow out in the U. He did it well like it get naked building pop the ball and I think in let you search. And the Canadian while they shop he won't that they use technology. To be able to use that nobody acted everybody thought Ellis in crack. When I got the tweet that says you're quick exit and and and other so producer at. The problem apple will open at or near break even it out while the Saudi Arabia and Naomi caught by the hour and get oil out of the ground remember that the oil they economy he or. I is living out the oil. Their social and bring apparently even. They'll sit back and be eighty dollar level and they need an app on the scale back their budget. And that. You're pulling those break you down but certainly nowhere near what it caught it it it oil. How big a factor is the aramco public offering going to be obviously they wanna make as much money as they can't but he also don't want to lose market share right. You actor right now and that's why out an area that's. Been oil. On the port act like 88 actor's alleged date we were able burst through. The cut wood in the larger are all of a markets are about. Certainly it might have a conversation as well you need. You know the midpoint of the year and continue to adapt and think you want me. I you'll support I'd say it look like they're building stairway to help with it or not but they were worried about. There's a lot. And quite a pop and I will write out. It the top line blocked and people are split on how back later and it all out. There was a report out earlier this week that Iran like Yelp maybe they'll eat. Maybe because the patent the look I'd stop coming and that's certainly a lot timeline are we were acting. Early when he lean on an app saying maybe Beckett when he. To be tough for them to say we wanna two trillion dollar valuation by far the largest valued company in the world. While we are now number two of the United States and oil. Might I mean it at that I act. And is it UL. A they're very. Eating those Lambert I had in May. That they're all the local market they protected them and buried in the Arctic air they owned oil company. I'm sure the thing that they've ever done or something really that are. And people they get there as well. Were there at the local market but it. Either I know what than what the revenue builder and it opt out it means via Internet is about lately and make the op at all. Give me something to keep an eye on the next twelve months no question about that attack and Jack in the Angeles from CNBC's thank you very much a very valuable in Poland India. Lee data raises some very serious concerns about who like. Yeah so this is specifically about it over self driving car arm. If you call. 86 to twelve months ago they started testing in the Pittsburgh area. And what it basically founded that they are really following behind cool which means competitors and self driving car area. In terms. How frequently the driver needs interrupt the system so when they're testing all of these things online for it's they've got a driver behind the wheel steering thing. And they have to you know occasionally. Get in there and take over controls are. What the leaked data show is that for Wilbur the drivers are having interrupt every eight anthem. Which you know OK whatever it might seem like okay well it's not that much for a brand new technology but when you take a look at Google's technology which there. There companies waned though. It's driving much much for that it's being interrupted once every 200. Big difference which is massive. Difference. And we think about this technology to. Be the before this ever goes anywhere there would be well over 9%. Successfully thread that you can't have 1% of the time these things. Don't know off the roads and plowing pedestrians that's why us looks like. At least on the U percent you know ways to go to catch up here in 99.9 percent is not good enough. Instantly online rants rants they they they shares are down 4% yesterday. You know below twenty dollars of the snap IPO is dropping. That it is still up from its initial public offering so keep in mind the stock its IPO price is seventeen but that you know that first in the first day. It trade all the way up into high points. Right up there in 29 dollar range and now it's down below twenty so. I don't know what this really mean for the stock. You know again people. Match or go online at insure a match dot com trump budget likely to see major rewrite. In congress I get the feeling this might be the start of a big negotiation like. Yeah I think it's gonna take ten or even talking about this all week you know is starting to get more more details on exactly what's going on the proposed trump budget and you know. Take a look at. Take a look at how this works its initial starting point and you know this is I think partially trump operates he goes out there with a pretty hard line negotiation and then you know bats where you that's a starting point. But you know even go line by line and really see which areas are gonna have a lot of defense Homeland Security. A little bit more to the VA as well which. And certainly well needed. But you know as he's laid out EPA going to have massive cuts in almost a third of their budget goes to be. Where I was a little bit surprised. With some of the the regional development and some of the you know labor agriculture. I think that's going to be a really tough argument one you know local politicians. You try and take money away from appellation or trying to take money away from the farmers. Who largely supported trump getting to office in the first place it's never really tough to get rural America is actually taking quite a hit with this budget do you think there could be some political consequences to them I'm sure I think that'll be one of the first there is against negotiate. These people. Brought trump into office there wasn't it was in the cities of new York and Boston that voted trump and officers rural America gone there. They try and cut massive funding projects away from these areas and have a lot. Lot of you know a. It's it's a really good point that he is indicated the art of the deal the key thing is to come in. And you know ask for everything or in this case cut everything right. And be willing to come back and negotiate to a point that might be a central point right where might make sense for everybody so. We look at these draconian cuts in the end I don't think it would be quite as draconian. Now I don't that I don't I don't see this being a place that anything ends up is an interest in starting point and it's kind of entertaining to talk about but. It's a proposal. Yeah that's all it is right now as its proposal for things that happen there's going to be a whole lot of negotiation has to go on between now when this thing etc. And you've you've printed out a chart here that everything that's positive is in the blue everything negative is in the red. In an effort to have it be common durable quibble or Medicaid trust. Yet the answer is yes you can go back and get India rule global trust but no you cannot go back and a man and the old trust. So I think that Barry what you require him. It requires the scrapping of a new document absolutely in fact. I'm gonna tell you right now if you do go back two year old lawyer to get it changed and here she says Aaliyah weekends we can you know. A man in this existing trust that you have walked out that because it's a recipe. For disaster he's irrevocable trusts are not simply going to take the word revoke oval and make it irrevocable and somehow that fixes it it's a language that needs to be in the document soup to nuts. The guts of the trust that really provides the protection you're looking for. From the cost of long term care and and I might add that just because you've done a revote Coble trust in the past. Chuck Iraq John movie along with Michael Armstrong and Tucker still would join us right now the great Larry Kudlow CNBC in the regular contribute of course to. The financial exchange Larry thanks for joining us this morning. Do. Larry health care something I guess for everyone to dislike on the left and right but then you've talked about the Republican plan. Really being a framework right. I got a great first step. Still do and I think GAAP. You got case a couple of key area I get that you have to make compromises I. Sort of sarcastically that the GOP at the practice. Bipartisanship. With itself there ought to put this together but I think you know. In cages in the tax credit. Perhaps more clarity and broader coverage regarding the risk pools for the you know sit. And ill and so forth. I've got to be the regulatory cutback in the insurance area. But basically yet Kyle all there it looked. It repealed thirteen tax hikes. It eliminate the mandatory. Spending bad Victoria. I health care packages which is really crucial I mean I thought that that was the heart of the whole problem here. I've it will eventually allied across state lines that bolsters held say the cap is got a lot of free choice pro competition. I think it's pro wrote a big pro health care I think it is that the Al banded up places but yeah I think is very good I think the press typically. Whatever trump does that truck odd ball. Well it does seem to have an issue though when you're talking about older workers and lower paid people they end up. A lot worse off by any calculation do you see this. Yeah doesn't that tax credit issues yeah I think the big issues it just I think which could be put it bluntly. I would be much less generous. To people at the top. For example you're still eligible heart that out right. I don't buy a bit ago. I would take it out what they would do it helped. As you said there in age people yet. Particularly people at the low ad I would give that. Larger tax credit spoke responsible deduction. Particularly. The poverty people forget about it Medicaid. And allowed to choose a better health care plan they do it vouchers topic but. I think that forty to 67000. Areas where the bulk of the tax credits ought to be those folks there working folks. Who have been squeezed it had you know virtually no increases and real wages. They voted for trumped by the way. But I think that forty is 67 in that area is really crucial and I was frankly. Be much much more generous there and that'd be far less generous that the top. A very well could be the direction we go here in the compromise. I think it will be big it will be at I think the risk pool issue look. Once the government whether it's the federal government or the state government or combination to what the government. Guarantees a risk pool for these sick okay. You take that out as a private exchange. And therefore the insurance companies will not be held liable and therefore. And therefore the premiums will plottage. And because of that ultimately the deduction. Our people are our people wet and -- the other side though the questions so that who you talk about that include people with diabetes and asthma. We're talking fifteen million parents were tough 5060 million people mountain Opel Wright. No it's about five receive about 2000. So we're not talking about people out on the people of asthma people of diabetes who would premarket would not be insured. There will be. This is the sick truly say OK now that I think the disagreements about five. But basically most of the analysts who look at that talk about privacy excited about it people the problem. 5% of the insured people. Really civil. About 50% of the healthcare insurer and so that's that's got to be changed here. But let's move on to something more positive here with the. That's I think this is really important US government is very US's generous country. And we can afford to finance insurance. For the sick and deal we can do that I think that's very important issue here and one that will come to that. OK let's move on to the issue of of tax reform. Do you think it's gonna happen with out border justify listened to you that's the direction you want to go. In if it does are we looking at maybe something in the low twenties on the corporate rate. Basis point good big. I've consistently been. That bad bad bad acting bad story. Ballot that the administration. Opposed. But. Yellow plate should be OK I'd like to make as low as possible. Out my problem is I think they should come first completely trump. I guess it was Tuesday night speech in Nashville. And then maybe and then they've been right. Anybody who was interviewed by Tucker Carlson. Box and eat that it was an accurate block papers that's all of them. I want to. But this budgetary reason I'm not sure I understand. Is that the yeah. The health care to comfort I kind of looking into that as I'm not sure I'd buy I read by the. I heard that too Larry I don't know why but I've heard that the we. I'd do it Brad yeah affiliation technicality. I don't buy that at all in fact I don't buy you know you could put regulations. A lot of these insurance deregulation is good going to wreck in particular reconcile scoot reconciliations. Get your all of said the parliament where. You get rid of the one that and there are now oh boy that I Democrats. Put your own skin there reconciliation can be whoever you want it to be. And the Republicans. Should have the backbone. And doing this play hard ball right that's what they should do. But do you think we get to that this year and it sounds to me like you may be predicated on the health care thing go. Finishing a we will get this in 2017. I am now the sooner the better I think you've got to be late in the year at all. I think that's regrettable. That could pull back the economy in the stock market. I think I've had a right the other night when he's that you let this burst out I had never heard that before that goes live. Unfortunately it is it box but look they all that is flexible right GOP. Practically new bipartisanship. Where it is very important. Very good Larry Kudlow thank you very much for your input and will be fall in health care debate obviously and tax reform. And we'll see what happens you have a prediction of what the final rates gonna be on the corporate. We're making a play that game I ice age I think 22 and it's a clean 22 no quarter. Site. I'm. As one of the office visit spill at the campaign says. All out victim was fifteen I did the right up there. I a lot alike yet I don't I'd bet. I don't want to stock market out stick with this team that large. Small businesses and by the way fearless there's. The biggest beneficiary. At business tax reform. Is the no. And lower middle income. Wage here. Is not the rich is that middle income wage earners who will benefit by at least. Evidently you captured at least 70% of the about it. And small business turns out real well on this too even better even better right. Absolutely. Our own Larry Kudlow thanks so much you have himself a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day in a great Saint Patrick's Day weekend all right. Larry Kudlow thanks for joining us via a lot more still to come course Adam Shapiro Fox Business will be joining us. And Paula Monica from CNN money will be talking about. We'll find out if getting that Tiffany box is something that's happening in big numbers across the country those stories and much more still to come. You're listening to financial exchange. Out interest rates we are of the opinion that interest rates are going to rise two or three times during calendar year 27 team the big question is chuck why is the Federal Reserve increasing the federal funds rate now yet the big reason why the Fed bumps up that federal funds rate. Is because they feel that the economy is on pretty stable footing and they simply want to make sure that inflation. Doesn't get out of control if there's too much money floating around in the economy so what they do is they raise that federal funds rate and it has two effects one it makes borrowing a little bit more expensive. It also raises the amount that people were able to get on things like CDs and savings accounts helping them to keep money in the bank instead of spending so would we talked about how housing. Is hot in prices are rising in young people millennial they're getting priced out of the housing market people can't afford to buy a house to house because prices are rising too fast with the Fed take that into consideration when they're looking at raising interest rates they would housing does factor and all their inflation metrics that they look at. And so is definitely something that factors in. And what you see there is that as rates and a rising mortgage rates go up to makes a little bit more challenging to buy a home. OK so rising mortgage rates would actually depressed housing prices good to know. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world. Stay informed and today about economic and market trends plus breaking business news every day. And the initial exchange with the very Armstrong and sharks. Kari Jordan Iraq John Mooney along with Mike Armstrong and Tucker Silva on this Saint Patrick's Day. Thanks for joining us this morning up pretty look at today if it's not enough little coal. The Dow Jones dubbed. But down fifteen points yes indeed down about three not a whole lot going on in the financial markets. And that Michael Armstrong the big stories that we've paid attention to this week concerning the jobs market I think this tells you a lot more than raw numbers. Is the colts so called jolts service. Showing more hiring and more quickly and that clearly points to improving labor market. Yeah I really like these statistics show it on their own they don't mean a whole lot of the number of hires was that three per three point 7% the rate of hiring and be creative about voluntarily leaving with 2.2 percent. But if you take a look at the trend that's what's really important take a look at the trends in your reaching those levels that we saw in the early 2000. That to me is a very good sign paid. Improving economy here people are voluntarily leaving their jobs to go get higher paying jobs and employers are having a tough time finding workers. The jolt your pour again continuing to point to a strong and strengthening job market. And you should point out it takes confidence to quit your job. And go elsewhere when times are bad people weren't quitting they were clinging to their jobs their quitting an array of 2.2 percent that's. Almost that's more than one out of every fifty people -- army brigade take a look and again big numbers here back in 02 it was around two and a half percent named after the below 2% but you know back in 1011 it was one half percent you're really seeing a pretty dramatic improvement here switches between the good that it's all good I think it's going to continue to lead to higher wages the trends clearly heard there here's a story a sit around reading my mind new addition of money magazine that came in yesterday I leave an exciting life. These guys at the yes basketball game or you can count born. And I see this article it says insurers. Being innocent drivers after accidents I found this to be shocking. If you get into a car accident. You may have to pay more for your insurance. Even if you're not at fault in 48 states including every state in New England. The biggest auto insurers charge customers higher premiums after a crash. Regardless. Of the cause according to a February report from the Consumer Federation of America by the way. Kudos to California and Oklahoma. The only states that actually bar increases. When the accident isn't your fault. Now who some of the worst insurers yours or saying okay. You've gotten Iraq caused by someone else your rates get jacked. Progressive was the most punitive raising rates 17%. When Everett was able. Geico informers sometimes raise the rates and kudos to all state they only occasionally increased premiums accorded the non profits. I get the street and you are shocked that the insurance companies are doing something you would consider to be unethical. I just I just wanna make sure I've got you have to say though that this is really shocking news to you I just sitting among one of those my evil guys. Did not mean it it's pretty disappointing you know you don't once a year insurance premiums go up after you get rear ended on the highway doesn't seem like something that's really your fault. But I can't seem terribly surprised that it kind of reminds me to have to go shop the streets every few years because you're not ending on record you know you are going on your record in saying. Hey you know this guy got rear ended their four charter hire rates and argue bush operates. Might be my he'll find a better you know better deals that. Is great advice because there's so many people who've been around like for civil Massachusetts for a long time when Massachusetts. Was affixed market it didn't matter where you went there was a great. It is now competitive markets opened about this way if you are really good driver. And you have a great track record. And you've got an accident caused by someone else rear rounding you won 128 totally not your fault your insurer comes back and jacks up your rate. Shop around the someone's gonna wanna offer you a better deal insurance companies like the idea of taking your premium. In not having to pay you back so if you're good driver you have leverage to find that are just here's initially think to this report also found. Wealthier drivers. Were penalized. Less for getting hit. Moderate income drivers saw a 12% premium increase while hiring them customers paid on average 8% more so the insurance. I'll be saying yeah I wasn't your fault. A lot of money anyway it's sort of Jackie race. It's crazy you. Pretty ancient stuff. Move on online tool to apply for college age it was taken down due to criminal activity now here's our you know I think this is kind of our. Weekly story about it different site getting feelings we talk about this all the time but when your playing for fastened him. Federal financial aid EU needs and put a hold much information your tax returns they set up pretty. You know pretty neat tool which allowed you just basically upload tax return would read everything off that and his. Put it and because otherwise. It can back to pass from backup documents on the tax return this male bodies here. Oops is getting Acton. That your Internet though. Shocking news. Uses a lot of issues that they had the higher restaurant hacking and people you know filing false returns. Just kept piling on that so for the time being they to a been taken off and play as fast as. If sometimes technology is not your friend now we get the story of the talkers can offer some input on. Why march is the best month for sports bars Tucker why is that they'll March Madness clearly I mean with via the basketball tournament there yeah. I mean there's a lot of money involved in this and people love to you don't gamble money and drank at the same time so yeah. Pars are big it's a big time for pars in March absolutely and then on top of that yet the NBA playoffs. Reese ramping up in the hockey races. Ramping up to. I guess if you wanna throwing golf in the mix to you at some. Leading up to the masters in early April. It's a popular time for bars in March definitely. Two people sit around him and in that goal I think I've done a better angle but people might go like Al Gore of the bar you can it's a little bad and don't all yet go to Vegas they bet on the hall yeah I mean if you go to Vegas you've seen. You know for the March Madness thing you see people sweating when you know going at halftime because they're trying to. Get the first point. First half totals you know there'll cheering or whatever it's just wild there's people betting on how many times John Lee Lewis grew up in those who got beat over. A witty yet. Apple's pretty since that March Madness that yet and so the average ticket costs for March Madness. Left to right 477. Dollars. There will tell. 177. Seasons. As an empty seats when they don't know why I. Over 125000. People will be traveling there's ago view in gear and peace in March Madness tournament. That's a big economic boost up you know. It's eager to win back to back Mega Millions that it is to correctly predict the bracket and it's written back to back may not just one. I just wanna say as and there wasn't a very exciting day for the first round. But I have a perfect bracket are you to do so you've got that wasn't a 512 Lowell last. Normal cycle last couple it all for today but I predicted every team and it's that is impressive because that was one big upset you know everybody says well yeah avenues middle Tennessee dad predicted. Why Sherlock that's what he flipped if you put a quarter of protection. Those are very proud. Yeah what we did it in depth analysis and middle Tennessee you knew the middle Tennessee had just too many guns although there are hot team right now. You can't tell you that you can't stop them can only hope to contain them last last race to secure a quick. Three and a half more. Three and a half million more barrels of beer produced in March vs every other month. One out packets now in Las Vegas cookies are expecting big money. I'll I. 200 to 225 million. On bets. Ian Nevada alone that would be only in Nevada alone yeah ops and I'll be legal you know books. 200 to a point five million we will authors like several dollars of the legal and every one dollar of legal so yeah elect has said. Vegas during March Madness is insanity in a good way. And that's what I hear and we know what the loss of productivity being huge although I did read this article today he says saying that some are saying yeah we lose productivity. But it's also a chance to kind of want to get people together kind of have these fun little tournament games and get people together usher. And interest rates are rising we know that at least until last couple of days a week in the early innings of a longer term trend here. Well lit bit offended signal they want to raise interest rates minimum of three times this year so we've got the first and maybe two more coming by any get statement from guys like you know ask Ari. Who is via Federal Reserve Bank has an up in Minneapolis. Saying. It was incorrectly voted no against the current a quarter point. Interest rates increased he doesn't think the you know the plan is ready and economies ready for the Fed to be raising interest rates. Which raises the question about how many more to come I think the consensus here is three this year maybe three or four next year's out of the ballpark here. Yeah I don't put too much credence into looking that far ahead Korea next year even this year it's hard to say. Here's what's working against raising interest rates inflation is not the 2% that the that looked like. And allow the job the numbers are picking up. There are saying that weren't awed at what they would take it full employment or quote all out there. It's that the Fed has a mandate employment and maintaining excellent patient. A majority of those who vote on the influence yet the committee that sets interest rates. David thank that news by the in the interest rate increase in most likely will do this next one. But if for any reason we get Annika and what seems to be a really moment as and encouraging pickup in the economy. You could give them interest rate increases. But Adam the one flaw with the theory is that we're starting with a baseline. That is artificial we're starting with a baseline that is historically low. And way below where arguably should be immune to Fed Funds rate typically says about a point above the inflation rates weakened if we don't have an inflation issue. Even for one and a half percent inflation. You the normalized rate should be much much higher than it is right now if we just plod along with a even 1% plus growth. Would that even via an impediment to getting close to where we should be. Some no no I if I understand your question the problem is not only that we have this weird based. The problem is that we've got four point five trillion on the Fed's balance sheet you know once they start on winding. You know what's gonna happen. How do they don't like Portland I've. Is this is all bills in uncharted territory going backed away and we started the great easing. 20082009. Nobody really knows the outcome will be what is. In what we're looking forward. It is some optimism that there is enthusiasm for the US economy you'd see it reflected in all I'd. You reflected in consumer confidence you reflected in the stock market. Where and you also hear like if people were willing to quit job to then go get jobs or try to get jobs. Whether this continues as we go through the argument for healthcare reform the tax reform. That could pickups could occur. Yeah we should be what impact does this have on long term rates this week the Fed raised interest rates. Yet long term rates came down quite a bit. What do you see happening in the air and as the long market already discounted the seven or eight increases in short term rates. No I don't think it is and it yet it is very hard you know I I am very conservative. We've been my money. I don't try to play the game of guessing what happened with interest rates or even with equity I keep it very simple. And I think it's dangerous summed I. To try and indeed the market so and even pretend to play on. I'm very conservative I do index fund and I do indexer. So where world hated you know there's. If that continues signal that and raise interest rates. So there are problems for other countries as the dollar strengthened. That could have ramifications for the US economy. But you know short term. You know variations of what's happening with on the day tomorrow I don't think really is gonna tell you where we're headed in X. Yeah if people are looking ahead and thinking about you know buying a car or refinancing their mortgage they're looking at where rates might go. I know you don't know the answer none of us do what. Well it'll go up. Hey you know analysts there is today. Nature. Slowed Korea could be cut if I mean we have the secretary of state thing that we might be pre strike a Korea. So that would definitely. You know I don't hold on everything. But if you're looking at refinancing Mort if you're looking at taking a mortgage now is that the time that. Because. With everything we know that on the table that's anemic at the right now trying to predict the future but as of today. There saying they want to raise interest rates. They have the economic. Information they have today. Was good enough to raise interest rates earlier this week and but it doesn't change it would be good now to raise interest rate the rate on their own logic. Is it the next meeting in. Oh. You know it's long as you know that's on the table you can bet that interest rates went up and technical practically by the way you know quarter point is huge and the thirty. The thirty year fixed eight interest rates on mortgage they had stolen about port percent. Mean there are people. Twelve years ago who would be who beat thrilled to give. Mean normal interest rate thirty year extreme mortgage quote the experts I yup so there's still cheaper interest rates currently 3% board in Africa that no. And you and your friend to brag about the great interest rates they've got I mean really. Will he do. When is enough or pigs get slaughtered right I mean if it's good you do it. If they'd look if you got to buy a house. If you want to buy out now is good time is that it is good that was when interest rates were at three in a quarter percent not necessarily but the fact that interest rates are going up. It means that prices on housing may actually these are come down to it because people wanna move inventory system now. That's what's your outlook for the market. I get very nervous you really need that would make them conservative but I don't think I'm the guy who has a rain cloud over is that I'm Doug field court. I don't trust this market one bit I think it's artificially inflated it makes me nervous that said. I'm like everyone else about it or 01 K and I on my 401K which happens to be one and that's. One of the options is an indexed by on it and that's where all my oral and came money goes and I have been Choi is run up I mean this week. I think the S&P 500 this week it's it's up almost half a percent. What you do but for the year it's up over 6% right so I enjoyed that runner up will I enjoy when it correct. Absolutely not the type it out for the next twenty years you bet. That of the law all it's going to do much better than by trying to pick winners. It is huge story here but craft Beers Narragansett. Beer brewers moved up on top. Fifty craft beer sales list now old enough to remember half against. Sure during the Red Sox pioneer hi neighbor have Hansen absolutely pig here and jaws yeah etc. and it's back. Get a got a pretty good job restructuring and read they move their headquarters in really started just cranking out a lot more beer and I think it's kind of it's found a little niche area where and the kind of the lower end on the cost scale of people and movement that beer you know they've yet they've done pretty well cleaned up and market is I can't guess kind of an alternative to Budweiser. And turned out to perhaps blue ribbon had been pretty I mean since the restructuring that if I think they've been a very good Burry their produce. A lot of what you said to each flavors like tells lemonade we want a bomb it like coffee milk style which is a while coffee milk is wildly popular. In Rhode Island for some reason I want to college Rhode Island and I saw coffee milk like almost every menus Americans made a coffee milk. Beer so they're get very creative so they're out there on the up and up and knowing and get a produced 91000 barrels of Narragansett last year at one point three million cases of beer. Do you do England obviously is very well represented. In the craft beer area of course Boston Beer the maker Sam Adams is the king yeah it's funny they're suffering some pain now. As a victim of the world's success I would argue don't quote me on this epic but I'm fairly certain that they are the largest American owned brewery. I believe you're right I advocate you know absorb ideally you guys are all all on by and had been you know warned foreign garbage I believe that sometimes the biggest one out there. Which exploiting it and he's yet they do have a reputation as the craft brewery. Had yet clear that's gotten Witten and show it. And number two is harpoon. Of course you know in the Boston area and at number eighteen. Vermont's long trail brewery so and a number 24 Maine has shipyard. So the top 25 we've got the number of them that I who's listening to you Boston Beer officials talking about the fact that. This is such a competitive landscape but there's a large degree of confusion among to consumers. I assure you they got the package store and they see a million different craft Beers. And what's happening is. They're so confused. That there are now defaulting and saying I don't know which depicted the corona on the victim of that wanna be above like right exactly. And and the other problem that Boston Beer has Sam adams'. They're so successful. They're no longer niche part it be like if everybody had a BMW. Owning you BMW would no longer be cool very even though it's a great car and this is a problem with that they're having right now is they're almost a victim of their own success I see a bubble. I really do you feel like there's got to be some sort of break point where all of these tiny breweries that are getting their Beers and stores. It can't be sustained forever chased him tastes change and I think it's got to be some sort of bubble bursting Europe's largest. So. I'm a victim of an ad buy that's all the time but. He got so many out there yeah distort our tool warehouse the other day I was looking up all the craft Beers and a laudable allergist and the win New England area and New York prison it. And that umbrella as well and Michael look at all these choices I have and like usage on when you're looking at all those Beers you dislike sprawl and plot up our act. But it's I mean you wonder how many more reason going to be created here looks like a sand kind of did this. In part by themselves and they they had a program set up where they would help. Small brewers you know get their hands on hops and really set them up with there in their first stage of this books. It helps them to some degree to get that kind of drove the every year when they're Brothers. Stared at the brewery and students literally about it I know some friends are making beer themselves doing it it's pretty good but. You know Sam Adams here's another in the new budget. Hit it and people are defaulting that. Here's another area where there some competition confusion Spotify is reportedly going to block free users from listening to its hottest new music. Now this is not a new trend. You eat for free you get don't get very much like pandora I pandora and I yup I use that the free version. I asked for some steel leaving amusing get one Steely Dan song and then like twelve songs that. By picked yet you haven't might like you hear one Steely Dan song and then about three dads and menu edit skip the next six songs here another bad. And then eventually get to Steely Dan and any right baskets right exactly hurt to a steely Dan's thoughts. But are these music services really going to be hurt by Amazon because of Amazon's throwing this in is basically a value that on prime. It's gonna be really hard the Spotify isn't indoors to compete that's just my naive opinion. Yeah I mean if if they can do it right. You know if you can get the algorithms are writing yet you know comparable music to play if they can get a realistically good product and and his layered on top of there. There Amazon membership then yeah I think a lot of people switch over. I couldn't interest to see where this goes he seems like there's more and more. The venue also a radio TV you know you've got your cable to cable subscription. Is there some sort of overload here it doesn't seem like we've. Yes the guess was so you're gonna get Netflix and keep your cancer cable box. Has generally happened. And what what's gonna happen imagine having Spotify account says Sirius XM radio. Yeah and the radio and car action water there I wonder if you. All these packages. You know seven and nine month and then speed I mean I'm month and and keep an up and up. They just like well on. And more than I was when I cable but maybe maybe America collectively wakes up and said I don't need this stuff anymore in the economy comes and goes into a recession don't run with it and your ticket equipment music wise the best option that I found is if you haven't ams on prime membership which offers you whole lot more and music is just a bonus that's the way to go now. And is on the major threat this area it is no question about that we're gonna talk about Tiffany's talk about luxury now there's one right there Paula Monica from CNN money will be joining us. I'm John Mooney along with the Mike Armstrong and Tucker Silva. We'll be having a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day joining us is Paula Monica from CNN money Paul thanks for joining us. Thank you all wearing green even though I am Italian American. Very good one half Italian too so where. Tiffany's. Nice report today the stock is up some positive guidance is is telling us something about the high end retailer. Well I think here with interstate I think it's telling you that they believe me finally. Be. The war might be over in the US is they had some big problems. You know strictly during the holidays because of all the traffic around trump tower which is right near the flagship Tiffany's store on Fifth Avenue in New York. Of course there's been so much police presences. You know Secret Service as well. Twelve won the presidency. So that had been a problem. You have sales are still lower than what interstate is that Asia Japan and China in particular. There's been strong group there and I think that is why the stock is up today. On the top they also lost the CEO. If you weeks ago I knew he stepped down in part because of that struggle that they were having you. Initially a lot of people may not appreciate just how important that story is there. By trump tower in Manhattan that is the largest standing at a store in the world. A both in terms of size EM sales volume I understand so right up really really big deal the fact that those protests were stopping business. And hurting business is this an issue. The frankly going forward through the trump administration. It may give a little bit it you know it is about 10% of their world so extremely important. But I think it's important to note here is that it's not necessarily just protest that has really clean. Off. You know significantly. You know in New York I think the bigger issue he's. The back and forth when trump columns back. To compare our normal audience who here there's some Barrett is finishing school. Before you know immediately in Washington this summer I think the issue is just Secret Service and presence around the it's not as much protest issue it's just that it's a lot harder. For tourists international source that wanna come that store as well as regular New Yorkers just to get it because there's so many roadblock I think that could be an issue but you know for now the company is you basking in the glow all of the yeah. Attention they're getting actually Asia particular. Longer term fundamentally you know we started early we talked about Canada goose and some of these other you know stories that come and go on high end retail but. Of Tiffany's and correctly from wrong I think of them as just the opposite I think actually do have Romo if you get a gift from with in Tiffany box it's a big deal. Do you think that they have that mold that and kind of protect them from the competition to make them have more long term intrinsic value. Yeah I mean you know. Can't accuse he's not mr. early eighties you accompanied the theory you IPO that. TP it was eighteenth there that were talking about a couple real history. Already. Booked them. A movie with Audrey Hepburn I mean this is an iconic company and I think. Even though Amazon then I'll help them more on line Tiffany's been able to withstand that challenging increasingly. Signet which owns a lot of the lower end all be Jewelers like Cain Jared they're going to some significant problems right out concerns. About their results being sluggish and also accusations that you know you know sexual aspect of it. Who each acting out. So I think that if we could potentially benefit from the blows that are being felt very cute yet at ticket which is their bigger. Also I would imagine they would be a beneficiary of a high income tax cuts. Yeah I think AB. You know attack changes who'd be too big that would boost consumer spending particularly. Poor you know the more affluent I think that something that. You would be a positive while I think really that the bigger issues. If we have a stronger economy. Should handle that bodes well pork. Retailers and not just high end retailers I think that would be more key than any short term impact. Pack. And Paul again looking big picture at the stock when you look at the price you look at the valuation. You look at the balance sheet. Is this the by. Is there is there value in Tiffany's as a stock if our listeners are urged him upon. Yes but really who. Something you know in my life work of making recommendations. Person in the night to think that it appears that the course is probably. Over in the US in any time you have new management also activist investors. You know she is you'll be player in that Tiffany now that does. TV. Positive signs they're meeting the war is over but obviously you know. Great point Paula Monica CNN money on Tiffany's thank you very much for joining us thank you we can't thank you to. Before we leave we have a story here we never did get to him and it's this thing is titled. Are you hoping for an inheritance you may not get as much as you expect from Canadian to Tiffany box you'll get something you like but you may not get the inheritance we expect they'll basic studies. Surveyed 2700 people and most of them thought that they're going to be inheriting over a 100000 dollars and I don't think there's various prize but most were disappointed. Most of them found that they didn't inherit that much for a number of different reasons. I think the biggest one in there is probably just that. The elder care. Eats away a lot of assets nursing home care and for that nursing home you'll eat up tens of thousand dollars a month yeah I'd be in a lot of people don't understand right now. Yeah a lot of people just think that's kind of part of Medicare and it is not is not something that is covered by. You know federal health insurance are like that so it has an interest in study in an as the interest in via the fact the volatile markets are right you check with mom and dad in you know the market as a 40% pullback and the bottom line is though. Most people expected to get more than a 100000. Most people actually got less than a 100000 so yeah. Yeah we're not terrorists practice day and age it's. Look at that and that's zeros are calculated what you might get. Figure the Dow was down sixteen points right now in the S&P down to the NASDAQ down four point 21. Kind of really messed neck you know in between day you're not much going on. But we hope you're having a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day and have great plans for the weekend to. Thanks for listening. You're listening to the financial exchange for the insure a match dot com students.
