This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and show itself out. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck soda. Some of us are just naturally inclined to think about the financial ramifications. Of certain people's actions. So when I saw at 4:30 in the morning Aaron Hernandez. Had committed suicide I immediately thought gee it's gonna save the taxpayers three or four million bucks over the next fifty years. Tucker Silva though. DC diseases sportsman he's thinking well gee imagine how great the patriots would be the hadn't gotten arrested I everybody's very Tucker and chuck with you. On a Wednesday and yeah nosy be had and I'm catching some heat on social media because of the way my mind. I mean look you're not the only one who thought that way obviously. I think in general Ike managed viewed as a very sad situation that you have such a talented young man in his life went so well. Off the rails in terms of just turning into an absolute monster many people make bad decisions. A time decades it's it's unfortunate. That you know you had someone that literally if we were sitting here five years ago remember he had just signed that new contract he hadn't. Done the only Lloyd murder yet doesn't 2012 when that happened five years ago it was we knew that those July 2012. He's only it today. ELA thing about how long the story's been going on he's only 27 years old today and I looked up his life expectancy. His life expectancy is fifty years now. That does not include the fact that he's incarcerated so I don't know with a life expectancy is for somebody who's incarcerate but I do know. Average cost of keeping somebody incarcerated is 60000 dollars a year. Yeah I mean look it it it obviously it's it's expensive to keep someone in jail I think mark my view is it. I I'd still prefer him to. You know be alive and and have a chance to you know even a little life in jail and you know and serve his time as opposed to kind of take in the cowardly way out yet and in doing this so. That that's my view want it but obviously as you mentioned if it does save the taxpayers some money when it's all said and done but. Would you believe just LB maybe it won't because the price be a lawsuit saying that you know he wasn't you know he's a ward of the state initiative prevented his this suicide. So there could be a lawsuit litigation associated with Arafat. Yeah at I don't know how much you can actually do Q well prevent an attempt to you know you you can't monitor every inmate at all times. But it's a very sad end to a very sad story. Wall Street Journal reporting that Fox News is preparing to cut ties. With star anchor Bill O'Reilly. This according to people close to the situation now remember. Fox News or the Murdoch family owns the Wall Street Journal that is leaking this information just came out actually was released last night. But mr. O'Reilly has denied any wrongdoing saying he paid settlements thirteen million dollar for the settlement. To put to rest any controversies to spare my children. So bill Riley we've talked about him now for what two weeks it has been in the news. Been in the news yet couple weeks now and if it's coming from the Wall Street Journal. As you mentioned this sharing the same ownership they're likely not getting their signals crossed just because of how sensitive an issue it is for. Every one at a point for century fox so. I think win. You know what when the dust finally settles. It seems like everything is pointing towards the direction he's going to be gone I know that. I was gone as soon as they hired that law firm the would you hire if you're an employer. And you hire an outside law firm to investigate one of your employees. Yeah it's all over it in my opinion data in and buy it might historically. That's never been a good sign jock Whitney when that. CEO of the company whose Rupert Murdoch. Says yeah we're gonna bring in. Ted Wells says to do an investigation on this thing. You you pretty much knew at that point is these are numbered. Yeah it it in most cases that's what you typically end up seeing here and by all accounts fox is going to be meeting a number of exacts a going to be meeting tomorrow in to discuss this issue my guess we have resolution in the next couple days you're just because he's scheduled I think to come back next Monday. From his vacation. Tucker sold media maven that you are. Does bill Riley make it come back with another network. If he does I think he starts his own sort of outlet if you will whether via podcast or something Mets. Driven specifically to his name from you know he's not gonna go to CNN or anything like that you don't think he Aldo. Now why does he goes to the CNN won't take too fancy and won't take him I don't think he does anything TV related I could single radio. But you know he's got four million viewers. Rate for a million people tuned in to him every night you don't think CNN error. CNN has the tip don't care about viewers they care about ad dollars. And they don't want each other you know what if he went on an apology to would be if he said you know did the wrong thing. You know Americans love people that politics now right it we just do we need you can get away with a lot I mean look at Brian Williams. Right Brian Williams he's he's now I think he's done this year you re re emerge yet so he's reemerge chip he wasn't quite as offensive to advertise. No it is the it as it always comes down to them you know there's there's degrees of what you can do Brian Williams. More naming quote like an idiot because he lied about star. You know it's it's okay you you lied about stuff but in doing so you lied about so that was pretty easy to write it it it's not like by saying that you were you know under fire when you wore them you actually ended up hurting anyone you just kinda look like an idiot you embarrass yourself and your organization that you work for. When you have. Sexual harassment claims and things like that not something where you're actually affecting the lives of another person now and in particular. We know that this is something that's incredibly prior prevalent in the media industry to begin we've we know that it's something that crops up. Morals isn't it sure this isn't his first offense I mean knee he went to he'd be beat the hell out of his wife. In in that was documented in court his children testified to a I mean so he's had. Incidents in the past and re emerge stronger than ever been he was at his peak you figure that it was his viewership was on November 5. Of 2016. Yeah he was through the roof at I think there's also a different view one these types of issues today than there was 2530 years ago with domestic violence and sexual harassment moving to the forefront. So. Lucky you might resurface somewhere I just don't think it's on TV I think he could be radio can be a podcast is Tucker said he could go off and start his own venture something like that. But I don't think. He's going to end up back on TV will Bill O'Reilly re emerge on another media outlet are. What's that's our poll question today. And you can participate in our poll. By going to financial exchange show dot com and its financial exchange showed doc can't participate in the poll right now Tucker 57%. Think yes bill Riley will reemerge jackets see him. Coming back in time for the mid term elections next year. You know Z goes on the apology tour he knew he writes a book about his misdeeds. Comes clean. And then in and makes a confession and Jeff soccer from CNN brings me and you don't think CNN with the two but not a chance are you kidding. And I would put money on that I I would bet. Every single dollar I have that nobody is what concede they have but nobody. But if you don't get average or poor what's the point didn't you didn't you say the point of the the point is not to get viewers viewers are means to an Indian being ad dollars if you can't get ad dollars what's the point well. The thing is I am happy I think advertisers would forgive him after a period time and I think all these protesters. That you're seeing in New York I think he would. You know lose interest over appeared sexual harassment not one of those issues that goes away quietly and it's not in the show what's worse sexual harassment or beating your wife. The ball that we're there yet and if it. A hero that he's done both so I mean again all I'm saying is that it's a much different climate today than 20/20 five years ago. These guys really don't think he re emerges anyone but. Well if you if he he if you disagree with my co hosts go to our website financial exchange showed dot com. I I I voted on the poll I voted yes that he won't reemerge technically mime would fall under yes because you've been starting his own venture. You know it's still media I'm just I'm just saying he's not going to go notoriety and I'm saying he's going to be an land. On a major network like CNN that nobody locked to zero chance. Four million people. 40000000. Ad dollars. See it CNN doesn't channels don't care about viewers do you know why golf is the high its charge the highest at rates for any sport. Affluent audience exactly small and it gets crappy viewership. But there's a reason why you have BMW IBM and all of these guys advertising on the masters it's because they know that they have kind of viable they want and you can get twenty million people watching the show but if they don't have any money in this no advertisers interested there's no point guessing what you saw Mercedes commercial every commercial break after the masters this year yeah let's all over the place. You know I got scooped by my wife and this is embarrassing. Gaza so last night she comes home and she goes he had commuted tell me that Amazon was bind Egypt's. Because as you know. She scooped me she scooped me anyway we have that story Amazon may have expressed interest in buying BJ's Wholesale Club. It's important ones near big Massachusetts employer they are big in New England you do you know ever all six New England states have. BJ's stores in the and they are frequent and we'll talk about that story but before we do that. We're gonna get to Joseph delay grow he's a contributor to CNBC. And yes there are five different companies. That our electric car start ups being backed by Chinese venture capital firms. I had no idea until I read the story it's fascinating to hear. Joseph delay growth from CNBC joins us next for mark insurer match dot com studios. Barry and chuck get the latest every day beginning at ten only here on the financial exchange radio network. Leave your bank does a tremendous amount of mortgage loans as a matter of fact I've used them a couple times to refinance properties in the past. Jake how's the mortgage business these days it's been an extremely busy Berry. There are a lot of people buying Holmes. So that's kept the purchase market very very busy you know on top of that rates are still an all time lows so we've a lot of folks who are refinancing their homes eatery get a better rate her polls and cash out because of properties appreciative. That's us and asked how does somebody know whether they should call to refinance. Well you know. There there's really 22 ways if they feel that the rate can be improved. Give history. And you know thirty year fixed racer all time lows. If you have anything in the in the 4% range frankly give us a rate that might be able to do something. Or if you need to take some cash and of your property wondered for a college tuition for kids or yet have home equity lines of credit we have home equity lines of credit as well and the cool thing about that is. If you already had a great read on your first mortgage you know home equity line of credit which will leave your first loan as it is allow you access the equity. Makes an awful lot of sense and you've got fifteen year fixed rate mortgages by your adjustable rate words all types and hopefully we we have all types of that in addition to that were actually very active Jumbo lenders so. And properties have really appreciated in the markets in Massachusetts. There's been hired me for Jumbo loans we do a lot of that so last year Berry were actually not the number two home purchase letter Massachusetts that for you congratulations. Folks that's. 8776917. Well my ju co host as you know. Don't believe in electric car. They don't think you're ever gonna catch on to him if the money. It's being invested in electric cars is remarkable I drive one so I think they're terrific we're joined by Joseph delay growth. Who's a contributor to CNBC talking up his Chinese movement towards electric cars. I Joseph how aria. Are very good so how much money is being invested in electric car start out by Chinese venture capital firms. About one point four billion dollars since then in the last three years but yeah. A Chinese. Terms in this space at 202. Thirds of the total invested worldwide. What those are very big players. In and YE eight UI I've read stories about the air quality in China so part at I'm assuming important. Two and two together but it it it would seem that perhaps it's an air quality if you were an environmental issue in China. That would be on Libya and that certain that the ace dirt. Most companies and a one apiece. In on the next big thing yup so a lot of these electric startups are also. Making inroads into the eight any sort social and culture in. Which an appeal the bigger and bigger taken years to come. It's also a police conducting Tesla has not been a bit but. It's good for your bottom line as well they're doing remarkably well. Will do that one point four billion that you mentioned does that include ten cents investment in Tesla. I know that Clinton looking and other loose not included so it actually happened. What that are really start putting more Arctic melt if you count it a pleasant sort of settled via what it close to six. While. The Abu. So China is making these huge investments in electric car manufacturers. But Fiske or one of it Fiske is one of the companies that they're investing in right. Yes that was purchased last year by an auto parts come to Dayton. When you're old yep it was a tie herself except for what. 149. Million you know and there are going to be really launching. There's also released last year but I. Assistant is committed these companies era. It was premature. And that they're coming out this year and within a couple of months and agreed long ST karma. When we called the Parma Rivero yup basically this in cars if Ford but hopefully not as prone to fire. And they're also they won approval to build cars in and a opposite 2000 the year so that could be a good amid the probably never going to challenged again late autumn. Yeah they couldn't. Speak it's a beautiful part. But Jolie can end up with Arabic and Chinese people afford these cards and knee you know the average income play of the if you look at the in doubles in China there. A fraction of what they are in the United States how much of a market is therefore you know 100000 are vehicles in China. Oh I don't know. In that changes every day it's. Between billionaires are Greek. Plummeted every day that every week mountain. And it's a one point four. Billion people. So that the average incomes 8000 yup. Annually and in exchange. So actually it really didn't. Joke and any of these companies gave it a chance to catch up to Tesla it seems like Tesla hasn't insurmountable lead. Well there's room for. Key in this large and Fortis large student for more than one and company he pieced it. Some of the horrors. Some are so communal art really. Another crack at the sinister there's a company called them lurid. And dissidents are considered loose bricks and I would a car pulled the air and they have some funding it looks like it's. Looks like it'll come help. In 2019. That the Clinton more curious car than the a plus and let's not play in the that the city. It's also people don't necessarily want whatever legal status. So. But he will accept what they should pet sitter you can catch it. Public and it has a player so phenomenal that starts that if he recently. Surpassed Ford and GM and market cap. They did they look pretty insert concern multiple seat split. And they sure do thank you very much Joseph for your time we appreciate it that's Joseph delay growth contributors CNBC you know. You can you can knock electric cars and I know many people say well I'll never gonna drive and autumn an autonomous car I'm never gonna drive. And electric car. But. You know we may have said that in the past you may say hey I've people now I've friends it's and while never get a Smartphone. Everybody Smartphone. Yeah they think about technology it's almost forced the definite there I know I'm never gonna get an email address there is that there is a lot of my uncle does not mean now. Yeah the day I mean imagine how few people Korea aren't on the Internet. And don't have yeah it's it's there there are few and far between and there's no doubt. As much as I give electric cars on a crap because they generally think that most of them. Over promise and under delivered a lot of cases. It is the direction that things are trending towards the future but. Thing you have to remember it's still is not a perfect solution the battery technology we have and still is very difficult to dispose of you know clean it cleanly. Well in a tight chalk it wouldn't gas prices tanked in your buying gas for a dollar 99 a gallon. Like a lot of people at that point said that's the death knell for electric cars but it hasn't been what's the what's happened is. Eat the did the problem is the business is very fragmented everybody's trying to make it electric car now. And there's only room for probably two or three manufactures electric cars and when you blow it although I disagree completely easy to be more. Yet and we noted that the gas cars you know YouTube mourned two or three manufacturers of gas powered vehicles you know now it's just so it's so expensive to invest in early on. What does early on and that's why I think a lot of companies just like you only had a couple BO auto companies start out you have more that develop its own typically as you kind of have this clip that ends of developing. When it's all said and done in the US. Electric vehicle sales for the month of march ended up totaling 181000 a 107. That was about a 40% increase. Over what we saw on 2016. Okay. In 2016 inside the US it's still 181000. Out of what a 1000005 it's yet its ties of 1% in 2016 there were a 158000. Electric vehicles that were sold inside the US who represents about 1% a little less than 1% last year. Of the vehicle sold if we keep up on this pace this year be about. One and a quarter one and a half percent of vehicles that are sold. Bitter going in that electric direction so it's growing. Rapidly it's just so still such a small piece what their approach overall puzzle the growth opportunity for electric cars I would think would be Egypt and eight K and India. Or would would that be the the the place where you're gonna sell a lot of them yet cities with terrible air quality. Today that for you'd think we go it's I mean that you're you figure you can see the mandates over there. But even you look at what happened from fifteen to watch sixteen in the US in 2015 there were 1161000. Electric vehicles when he sixteen up to 158 were on pace this year. Probably somewhere around 210 to 220 so. It's growing but it's still such a small piece pay up next week of trivia based on the revolutionary war that's next from our insurer match dot com student. Amazon me have expressed interest in buying BJ's Wholesale Club this is reported by the New York Post. Not sure that I'm buying it. Yeah I I feel pretty similarly to you won just not sure why. Amazon would go this route here when you look at how Amazon is has historically developed. What they've done is they've thrown a ton of projects at the wall. Starting really small in a lot of cases saying okay we're gonna just try to sell them a small scale and will gradually try to expand. Going out and buying a company like BJ's for four billion dollars with you know 200 retail locations available mostly in the north and east. I just don't know if it fits with their pattern of how they tend to like to develop. You know they tend to like to start off in small controlled situations and gradually expand. This is a completely different approach for the you know obviously that talked about trying to get in Q well on groceries and trying to get into. Even setting up some retail stores on their own way and has to be a big shift them. And I think that's where the suspected synergies were. The they have there Amazon. Prime would be called prime growth for the pantry intricate pantry. And that's pretty expensive to be a member of prime pantry. I'm wondering if they were looking at his feet we also covered that they are looking to buy whole foods there's a rumor but that they might consider Bible. I wonder if part of that is related to. We want to be in the food delivery business. And you'd need wide distribution to be in the boat if if they really wanna go after the grocery business. I think the need stores where they can have shoppers walking through buying apples and oranges in all your grocery needs. I tend to agree I just don't know this is the way I'd go about it I think if if I'm trying just did to build a new grocery store from the ground up today. I don't wanna deal with legacy components in stores that I might not want stores that don't fit my plan maybe they're built in such windy I can't use my technology and have to do Hutu retrofit. I don't know if this really fits with Amazon's overall business model. I see them trying to build out grocery stores I think that's something they want to do I just don't know if this really fits the way they. Typically do things and it would be a big acquisition BJ's is rumored to be worth that we we don't really know what it's worth as it was taken private in 2011. For two point eight billion dollars of BJ's used to be a publicly traded company is now private. The thought is that would be worth about four billion dollars I also had heard that BJ's might consider going public so that. The heat there's a lot of worse or rumor circulating as it relates to BJ's why is it important while they're headquartered in west Borough Massachusetts or New England based company. Many of their stores are you located within the six New England states. Yeah and in in terms of if Amazon want to do this they can do this very easily at a cash wolf they want their free cash flows about 3.4 billion dollars just for the last three months 2016 so. It's easy for them to do is they don't even need to finance the thing if they don't want to. They can figure out ways to make the cash for work pretty easily when it's all said. Done gold you think about buying gold that gold trading at 1277. For outs right now. And there's only one bank. In the country we can walk into a brain to prejudice he can walk into a bank branch. And buy gold silver points called leader and there are very innovative bank. The sponsor our program and you can walk into any leader bank branch. And buy gold coins right out of the brits one count points. You buy gold bars. If you're gonna make a large purchase the one thing I would suggested peace and wanted to go to the story of the day it's down the street. He make a large purchase you might wanna call the branch and say hey I'm coming in and I had a bye I wanna buy 101 ounce points. He. The Smart thing to do if you learn about. How leader bank works in terms of does it not only will they sell you gold coins they'll buy back the gold coins that they sold. So if you think golds and go up from 1277 and outs and scored a 2000 dollar amount if you go by those gold points from leader bank today. And then when it goes to 2000 dollars now to run walk right back into the same brand to its all the schooling. You can call leader bank by dialing them at 8776917900. Or little leaguer bank dot com and look at their gold buying program it's terrific it's innovative and it's unlike anything I've seen anywhere else in the country. 8776917900. As the phone number leader bank dot com is the website address. Check it out I think you be glad you did. Let's talk about wealthy Americans being more likely. To be audited by the IRS one in 143. Americans faced an audit in 2050 but boy is it ever skewed based on your income. It is what you see is that if you're making between 50075000. Dollars a year before got a one in 244. Chance of being audited. On the other hand if you rate between one and five million dollars in adjusted gross income per year you've got a one in twenty chance. If you're making between five and ten minutes that one Antoinette 5%. If you make between five and ten milling it's a one in ten chance of 10% of those earners and the getting audited every year. And if you make more than ten million dollars per year there is a 19% chance of an audit. In any given year so pretty much one out of every five years you might be audited if you were making more than ten million dollars and the president of the United States is audited every year. You know that. I didn't know that since water since it since Watergate that was one one of the changes that we made back in the seventies. President of the United States has their tax return audited each and every year. It's not and when you think about the reason why you tend to see a higher percentage of audits at higher incomes. It it makes a lot of sense because the iris isn't going to spend resources trying to recover 300 dollars from someone who made 40000 dollars last year. They are going to spend resources trying to get 300000 dollars from someone who made ten million to Tom Brady gets audited probably every other year. They'll probably its audit more than he does. Is she still make Mormon and he does it's not even close real yeah I choose if fifties and panels and even though she like retired she still earns a pawn of money. Then let me take a look and see if I can get some numbers but not for her estimated 2016. Income was thirty point five million dollars when he makes 100 no. 829 played football does he doesn't dwindle and play football. But that he did. These economic 1829 about these tactically to and you may collect a million gas pump and yet his contract salary was reduced last year que La a million dollars effectively. This year's while oil is that. It was all related to the suspect yet you did receive some pro rated signing bonus it was net earnings when it was all said and done was about thirteen million now but it's still half would just like that about that you make thirteen million dollars in May. Half of what your spouse makes it does he make the Disney Nickelodeon endorsements does he do it under armour deals and he did that. Which she hit because her her money would be all and I would think if she would have. Some pretty good endorsement. Yeah I mean I'm sure he gets some but I I don't know how much it necessarily is. I think that hers is still. Far beyond what what he makes when it's also done. People in France are going crazy there's a guy running for to be president of France he John milk melon show. And he is endorsed by the French Communist Party. Says he would introduce. A 100%. Tax on all income above 400000 dollars not to be outdone by Bernie Sanders who wanted a 90% tax. Wanna make it a 110%. If you wanted to say. Yeah this is someone as you mention his name is John McMillan shown he can be home he could be the next. President unlikely. Now it's that there's a chance but it's unlikely the polling I'll tell you what the polling in this thing has been. All over the place in the last week you keep mind this election is coming up in just a few days hours Sunday but it it's it's absolutely nuts what we've seen. With this election polling over the last. Really two months or so so the way that it works in France for not familiar with French elections. Anyone can run for president pretty much anyone can start a party at any time and it's it it's very chaotic. What you have here. Is there are four candidates that are all bunched within about five or 6% right now there are running 20/20 5% and exactly so you've got this guy down Nolan Cohn who is up pretty much is a problem is that you can get he is you used endorsed by the French Communist Party. You've got France swap alone who is kind of the mainstream conservative candidate. You have the crone who is. Kind of center left in terms of his views and then you've got Marine Le Pen who runs the national front. Who is you know party's extreme nationalist. In her views. And all for them within like five points in all of these polls right now so there's a chance what you can get both what's interesting about this. Both Millen cone as well as the pen PO both want France to leave the Euro rate. So you could actually end up in a situation when that's what we're both of them end up as the top two candidates and if you don't get 50% the top two when the going in a run off. So you could end up in a situation where no matter what. France has the president is dedicated to leaving the Euro. And and they did they stuff to deal with a congress. That they do but it's I mean it's it's fascinating to see how this is the valve because. This race just over time and and this guy I've known Colin if you go back and just. You know three weeks was polling 10% all of a sudden everyone's like solid and interest in this guy and I'm sitting there going. Well that's weird you know now there are strange very strange doings in in France. Up next we'll have the answer torture be a question we'll tell you who won. And will be joined by Michael Waterhouse from Morningstar looks and we have the stock that will be talking about what Michael grab a pencil paper. Stock stock is up next from our insurer match dot com studious. Close first attempt at Health Care Reform passed failed. Armstrong here and I'm joined today by estate planning attorney Todd lots from the law firm up Cushing and Dolan. We're talking about how he owned real estate. Specifically Todd what I wanted to ask you about this what's the best way. Too old rental property I've got clients that bought rental properties the last 3040 years and it accumulated a lot of it. In the old and it invariably failed summit jointly something I'll see it it's like a hodgepodge. Of ownership quite often. Sometimes they clearly don't jointly with children which could even be worse than than any everyone's human you know please don't do that but. I think what real estate with rental a realistic area that really the best thing to think about is your creditor protection. And that is and not only in your name but only in limited liability company connectors it's LLC people heard about them. You take your property is road and you take back share from you know if it tests your that you and your wife. And then you put your shares. Into your trust either you or revoke mobile or your irrevocable trust depending on your objectives. The reason being is when that person slips and falls or get her drunk person leaves and hurt somebody. They're gonna sue the owner of that property. In the owner better not be you because then all your assets are exposed weeks. But if it's owned by the LLC and the gonna sue the LLC and not the shareholder now you and they can only get the building that's in that LLC. Way better form of ownership for rental property. Like we're talking about Allergan here's the ticker on the company's EG and can you talk a little bit about the company and what your views on it. Not sure so for the Euro was sent there that might have been many with the name this is a specialty pharmaceutical company market cap is about 79 billion. And we value our fair right harassment the company is about 300 dollars at current price of about 20% discount and this is a wide moat name. That would permit at all Q so we speck of a lot of confidence coming in that that future earnings power for the. What is the stock trading at such discount to your fair value right now. Yeah the question I mean the the thought actually. Through much of what security and had a bigger discount this stock had a pretty nice run starting in about December and that and through January. Even bill you know we've stated a good bill undervalued I think there's a few things going on there I mean I think collate the one that that most people are aware of those two. With the election cycle presidential election cycle on that and obviously Donald Trump up there with his his tweet there's been a lot of focus on. Drug pricing. And that has kind of taken a lot of window on the sale of common apartment space and overall we have a lot of names here that we cover that. That you look undervalued and our team would be in that book is well. I think there's some other things going on there it's good you know game is a business that has had a pretty rapid transformation over the last few years you you know this company recently made a lot of news because spies are potentially. Was trying to by the company in them that deal fell through because some some treasury issues and then. This company also recently sold a very large generics unit to come up for forty billion the company I think a lot of investors have that are kind of uncertain though. Exactly where the company's been and where it's gone but I think overall we eat we really do you like the business and you know. I think most of your listeners quite humorous knowing what the largest public to vote talks. About 20% of their business at the very good franchise and has a long long one dose of a moment. Michael looking at this company what what other products in particular track you. To the company in the future or even any type of development there working on. Yeah I mean that would it's it's a good point I would say that there's really humane reasons we like the business and want is we obviously you like the product portfolio and diverse of applied across a number of therapeutic areas with. Along patent life of a lot of those products. They had a computer attractive categories like off the multi in Castro. Both the Hispanic business literally cut of the council here is Clemens and that would be led by boat talks but they also have breast implant an official pillars. And this is Bolick has paid business I Hispanic business as a elective procedures so a lot of that millions of essentially immune from a lot of the reimbursement rest but a lot of pharma companies are facing and the other thing too is a pipeline management has been investing heavily in new product. That there are pushing the clinical trials. At the number of near term opportunities. Or. Conditions that don't really currently have treatment of the nearest one they have is that you are in our forward drug which potentially could be launched next year. And then they haven't a lot of longer term products I want. The bigger the potential opportunities. Drug court match which is essentially fatty liver disease that currently. Good as I have a dream. At all either. Looking at a company like this how much volatility can investors seem based on. That development pipeline and know that I forget who was that it was Eli Lilly earlier this week there's shares took a pretty decent sized hit. With some news that a drug they'd expected. To see approved was actually not going to be able to go through the process how much risk is there and accompany this. Yeah it's there. I mean it's simply you know any investor and in the pharmaceutical. Business are gonna expose yourself to that type of the issue and Allergan which would definitely be in that category as well I think one reason were a little more calm. Bullock Allergan is a that the the product. Hopefully is pretty highly diversified as I mentioned Bo talks about 20% of revenues the next largest product list basis. But prior drug about 10% of revenue so they don't personally have some of the large part concentration and somebody's Biotech firms do for example where. Either one oncology drug earth or for example on the market Iliad for example there you can try as I can be quite large overall business. The second thing accused the pipeline is is equally fairly well diversified because this company is not really going after these very very large on. Ecology indications for example but a lot of big pharma marked by a record going after so in the sense here on untrue there's going to be some failures and there's going to be. Becomes successes in the pipeline but there's probably all. All want bear. You know that that. Essentially all of correct on one basket you know to a certain extent. Very good will Michael thank you very much for joining us today are part of Michael Waterhouse for Morningstar talking about Allergan the ticker on his eight G and. Going he talked about volatility to the 52 week range on that stock. It's been as low as a 184 dollars a share in its highest 261 dollars a year you get a little bit of movement on a company like this let's got a beta one point 29 dentist to put in perspective. Impact returns for mutual fund investors. Yet this is one of the big gut things that I think is kind of an unknown for a lot of people a lot of folks. Who do invest in mutual funds that familiar with the concept of a front end or back end load their familiar with the concept of an expense ratio. But what they often don't understand that there are additional trading costs that mutual funds have to pay either in the form of mark up. Bid ask spreads would ever maybe. That are necessarily applied. In some of those familiar ways that people typically know is this not disclosed clearly to an industry because that's I think this is a point of confusion. You know somebody buys a mutual fund. And lord forbid they try to read the prospectus which is confusing in its own right. But often times I think it's even difficult to find this even when you're going through the prospectus it can be difficult to find it and I think that's one of the biggest reasons why people need to be able to go in and take a close look at their portfolio because oftentimes the individual investor doesn't know where to look. This is the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and shut sun out you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your. World stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now. The financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck soda. All right well. If anything changed exotic and Barry Armstrong with you here and you know I'm looking at the price of crude oil. And it's down sixteen cents a barrel truck at 5225. So what do might not understand here just didn't we just hit an inventory report demonstrating that the inventory levels for crude were down but the million barrels. Yeah we did and in the thing to keep in mind is even with those inventories being down. A million barrels through the big thing. Is that inventories are still pretty close to all time highs and the million barrels just isn't enough to move the needle I don't think so especially when you have Saudi Arabia and OPEC talking about. You know changing things up rather extending video production cuts that they started. You know six months back you know from my perspective when you take a look at this. That's kind of what I'm looking out here the other thing to keep in mind is that the the current weak domestic production in the US. Also surged ahead by about 4% so we went for about nine point 17 million barrels of nine point two threes that's a pretty big shift. Are eating up all the cuts that are coming out of OPEC yeah I mean you talk about the difference from a week ago. And you're talking about an extra 36000 barrels a day which doesn't sound like it unnecessarily. And but that's a big shift in just a week here and us from our recount that's still less than half of what it was at the peak. It all recounts the very well yet so imagine if we implemented all of our rates whole count. Exactly and so were when you take a look at this year on. You know I I think in general the numbers are still pointing towards a mismatch in supply and demand. US production right now is actually 250000. Barrels day higher. Then it was a year ago OK so. You know all in all that's amazing when you think the recount is less than. Yeah absolutely intra is that mean that the recount is not doesn't have much meaning. It's I think keep in mind the one thing that we have to always look at with the rig count is. Just because you have a rate out there doesn't mean it's going to be a high impact well that you're drilling. And so I think what you're seeing right now is that. The rigs that are in the ground are typically going for higher impact wells greater production things like that. As opposed to you know you might not have a whole lot better out there right now that are drilling in deposits that are BO expected to be productive. It would happen with that house race in Georgia last night using this was the a race yet one Democrat they got a lot of the votes and then their I think their eleven Republicans running for the house seat David seventeen people total in the running for this house seat. Democrat John ourself did win this first round here effectively. But because he was unable to secure over 50% of the vote he came in with a little over 48%. It now goes to a runoff and that brought off. Is gonna be him as well as the top Republican candidate. And that's going to be coming up in June Karen Handel out now Karen Handel who's going to be running up against him. Handle is a relatively centrist Republican and this is a district that has historically. Elected centrist Republicans they've typically gone that route. Pretty convincingly in a lot of cases so I think if you're handicapping this race and I'd say probably 78 to 80% chance that's eons coming out ahead. But Newt Gingrich said that he she would win by eight points. That'll be an election held in June did you eat you certainly could see that it's going to be in June it's gonna be about two months here. What's interesting even if she wins by eight points. This is a district that has historically. Gone. Two Republicans by anywhere between 25 and 40%. So eight point win for a mainstream Republican candidate in this district. Does potentially showed that the Republicans have some things to worry about heading into the 2018 mid tour you know looking at the market now and also on day on a slightly a related note yes. News just came across the wire Jason cap it's going to be stepping down from his seat at the end of his term as well in the house and with the where's the so chaff it's is off from you talk okay. And the big thing with him. He's been an office in Utah since two point thirteen men and pretty influential member. In the house is the chair of the house oversight committees so obviously occupies. You know pretty. I when he decently just not running for reelection he's gonna be stepping down at the end of his term in when he eighteen he just announced a little while ago. And so. You know that is a little bit unexpected there in obviously a little bit of departure from a Republican leadership so. Just another thing to op piece together as we start to get rate is he might when he eighteen mid terms whirling about eighteen months Selena. IS and S&P is up five. And the nasdaq's up 36 top of the doubt be down 26 it's all one company three letters I BM BA yah I've been moved that's what IBM used to stand for. I've been move had been moved this date the big east to transfer people when I was kid back in the eighties. A lot of the guys that I went to college with the gals went to college with they went to work for IBM and that was the big joke in the eighty's and ninety's they would transfer people all of the. Country pretty regular. Yet in in IBM coming out here with they'd disappointing quarter here's their twentieth straight quarter. Of revenue declines OK so that's five years in a row and obviously IBM has some intriguing products that are out there when you talk about its Watson suite of products using artificial intelligence is so formats high margin business it it is but what's interesting to just not getting quick enough adoption offset. The revenues they're losing from some of their old core businesses here and so. You know what you're seeing right now is just steadily declining quarterly revenue. Me and even though they're able to kind of make it up on the one back orders five years now. Even though they can make it up on the back end as far as earnings is concerned. They're just now bringing in enough in terms of revenue to really appease markets right now so. It's a company that still is in transition. I think if I'm a shareholder of IBM I'm probably looking at the company and I'm saying hey we need to figure out. If we wanna change management at this point because. You get to five years. That's a long transition period if you're trying to steer company even one as big as IBM you say look at transitions take two to three years and then we should have things ready to go. You can't do a ten year turnaround is and you just got to do another wants the technology changes so quickly. Here the US states and the companies that use the most H one B visas this of course. What is a target of Donald Trump and he spoke about it yesterday and I think the trump administration is trying to crack down on each one B visa abuse which is a good thing. Would it what's the story as the earliest H one B visas. Yes so while what would Donald Trump ordered yesterday it was a comprehensive review. Of visa programs that allow US companies to hire foreign workers instead of Americans and so. Guy's gonna be commissioning a task force just to go through and saying look where that place that we commonly see abuse in these programs what are some of the things that we can do. To reform them. Today the process for H one B visas to effectively a lottery system so it's completely random and what I'd personally like to see is something where it's we're companies are ranked based on the salaries they are offering to these visa participants. Just because. If the company really says look we can't find American workers at the prevent prevailing wages you should be able to go out and simply hire someone. You know for 60000 dollars if you have to pay Americans a 144 and had his problems and it isn't that the of the alleged abuse of the program is that. Employers are using it too depressed technology worker wages. It is and and I think you know that's the big thing that you see out here is look if if you really can't hire American workers that you should have to pay these workers are prevailing wage you shouldn't simply be able to go out and say. Okay because you're coming from India are China and her country that has a lower standard of income than we do in the US and we're gonna pay half well. Know that that it doesn't work like that that's not how the system is designed to be set up. And there's been some abuses there the other thing that you want to see cracked down on in a perfect situation. Are the abuses where someone hires an H one B worker brings them on hasn't spent a year in the US and then sends them back to their other country with the skills they've warned that they can take those skills and work at a lower wage over there so. Those the different pieces that you're seeing. You know discuss its gonna take six to nine months to come up with some recommendations. My guess any changes don't happen until 2018 at the early. Snaring. Now up next will be talking about Massachusetts dismissing some 20000. Drug convictions linked to tainted crime lab. Any duke and you know she's already out of jail. Issue really. It's also possible we'll talk about it when we return from our insurer match dot com studios. Go to that website and let us know what you do and we'll invite you on the talk about your business we're joined today. By Beckett would flow back and wins the excuse me and Andrea Miller. From a company called why action in my reading that right is why action yet splash and not fashion statement while. Clashes that so tell us about your business would be instant. So we may let teachers there on on small battery packs but we customize them for different businesses companies events anything he can think to make it and understand that have been added a T shirt that has a battery and and it flies. Oh and it uses AM Olympics you know our. No one can see it and cool and it runs off with my backpack is to double layered AAA batteries security of the batteries. There's a pocket and the shirt movement that inside. People this let's and then it'll make it to the island so these flight. Party teacher answers sometimes they can land at the sound of music so we get a lot of DJ is that make them. Real ended up that way out yet it's very cool I've seen these around finally. I've seen these quite a bit actually they you guys had something to get pretty popular couple years back right. There're a lot of different. Legal rave style shirt young but our specialty that we customize. So we can do it very different company than we did you elect reaches for big company. And I'm guessing I'm not your target market. Now I I think eight DD hopes. That. But you in the back ablaze and them IP Aaliyah and an event that is it isn't just T shirt as porters or any other merchandise that you do as well we we can take that panel that on the teacher at an exit channel and years. We do that hats he baseball we have done that from the path a little bit different for the technology we use fiber optic now. But very cool that. Now you start this business about what 56 years ago now yes we start at Baylor seniors and college. My business partner Andrea her mother on an island businesses earth except. And because the economy let's that we we would kind. Our own business is that how you sell your stuff entry on line. Yeah I Alley analysts say. What tickled to its last statement that fashion statement dot com and I go on there and guy so I could buy. T shirts right now flash up in and I can give them away. The how much is teacher cost plus. I'm so will we get premium shirts that you can get like if you like not to content or something them then obviously at that customize between use it just depends on the quantity. For the past some pretend shared its money five dollars apiece then. And then on the let it play four dollars for pre aids and. And and looking at your business obviously you started this while you were in college what's been the path that you've taken over the last five or six years to grow what have been the things that have been most successful for. Initially when we started we were just in the finale that teacher design that different facet of an event and the first few. And that we applied to beer vendor that. That they want to customize. So for the event for the event itself and that kind of changed our whole rally that's added to go into. Then each within an east market view in the kiss concert scene. We happened and yet you know of the England I would say so basically we stuck so as she said Allergan and just kind of seldom that we had seen a product of filing now we didn't invent the Prada and but so are active. Right yes silly about the website and we decided yeah our plan is gonna impeding customize it. We ended up what we've been working with like Google always done link and tons of like companies then to remake the shirts. All we actually start weaning ourselves efforts. We order all the different you know. Materials obviously but then months week couple hundred piece orders in. You know just we couldn't make the men are so we source finale have. Manufacture them makes that sell them all together and makes it somebody's cell year. They have me to sell last year. I'd like 50. Well we had one corner of 5000. We now know is why aren't living by 5000 it was actually it was the president of Ethiopia home. And is clearly president of Ethiopia what 5000 look at these I was campaign is running for reelection. That it's safe letting up now is thousands Leinart but we did a ton of other Tucker for president. So that was one order yet by the end is ordered yet so I mean we had to have done like 20005. Now do you do is all of your RO your sales online or do you do any retails well. Mostly everything is online we don't have any retail stores sometimes we'll go to event. But people reach went it and then and that their logo and other information and we'll customizable make ailing. Knock out to show them when you have someone who does all the production at this point it sounds like you have any other employees that you work with Justin kind of back off procedures that do you kind of run and. Really just us we've done every single thing from marketing counting eleven accountant you know bookkeeping and just everything now was it. Learn a business we really don't have that much experience. Common college you know win. Internships but we just decided that kind of literally learn everything from lake in pledged giving him as the best thing. We've averaged what's been the toughest thing you've had to deal with as you've gone through this process. I would. As well I would say that inexperienced partly just never really working. At a company are like knowing this was your first job effectively write a lot it was and we worked at a restaurant Collins right. But this does yet this is like learning lake yes exactly we never had any other experience in the job before. And and looking at where you plan to go from here. You do teachers now you said you've done hats in the past any plans to expand the product line what what's what's kind and actually. I'm weak card can do big poster size is not like canola plants. That would be cool plants and slashing and slashing payments like that they've done title you let him but the battery pack. Your own content. So each week you said you've done ties Ellie leave Tyson at the time there really cool I mean it just depends you know his. And passive yes sir and lighting that looks good night camera late model where you great Christmas for that I want for Christmas party without ads for Halloween yeah. In the get a lot of Halloween public about Enron thing. The bathroom via bath yeah. Nice soft but with you know some little for doom that's a fashion statement I think that's kind of the direction that I'm guessing we're not in the bathing suit business and we've been an occupier Iraq had a watered these things let me tell you that be kind of cool they are weatherproof I mean I've worn it through brainstorm on the it. Completely work what's the what's the weirdest order that you've gotten from Iran. We've gotten a few week we had a if we had a cross dress that made lit he fees from them. This thing. Interesting. So I think I said the aim at that website three or four times detectors keep him. Attacks in talkers in with the name of that website. That's why action. Breath el pais. SA. IO NN. This statement it's fashion but with an out of soil and a flash and statement dot com wanna buy some of these life teacher and they. They showed a couple of there too technical editor col and went and once there was one other big clients we're talking about are fair some pretty cool stuff and I think we should get ones with Tucker's face actually it. Yes and a slight up. Smiles. It is time for a trivia question for you and our price today is 25 dollar gas card. On which island. Did the battle of Rhode Island take place now are text number 68680. First listener with the correct answer wins a 25 dollar gas card. What was the name of the island. That the battle of Rhode Island took place on. And again the text number here in our studio is 68680. Tucker I wanted to talk to you a bow. And statements that here. There. Dope and there is any production costing any duke duke duke and I think it is so I I saw that Massachusetts now. Has to dismiss them 20000. Drug complaints rightly it yet 20000 people that are gonna get this wiped off the records. It's all because she whispered room with the testing. Yes you've messed around the testing and whip my first thought when I saw this this morning. Mom was. What if you had you remember how lie over was required by the state of Massachusetts do these background checks of the state of Massachusetts of these new background checks via one of some of those convictions were coming from this drug lab and all of a sudden you have people who have been able to drive and and right for the last you know month of point oh. Just because they had you know some woman who was making up test results on the letter out of jail she issues sentenced to three to five years and thirteen. If she's ardea I checked. The good news is I don't think she's ever gonna work in the Drogba but no. Thanks so there's that at least Dion and and you know. But what happened to those 20000 people they they're getting second chance yet they get net. Get out of jail free card here's the question like what is the appropriate sentence for that kind of cry like I'm trying to think back is now he did it once. That when they've got out and hear you talking about the drug users. And now I don't know you'd be eight. And I wonder with this subject to civil litigation will be. That Hillary you're never gonna we're gonna drug lab again. And are or where she too I mean like in theory of all of these convictions are overturned late. There's part of you that says OK you've got to serve ever one of the days that you end up sentencing people to like. It's it's a mess but yet you've got 40000 people now. They're having these convictions overturned that are going to be wiped their records. It doesn't mean that all those people were arrested some of them might have actually. Ended up you know with you know convictions anyways but just because that testing was done improperly you're not going to be able to get any. This school won't charge you tuition until after you get a job boy Tucker we knew of like that polio for you'd you'd pay all the years of tuition you racked up student loans. And then a lot of people still didn't get a job I've gained by my son goes to my youngest boy goes to Bridgewater state. And a lot of his classmates that are are graduating this year no I don't have jobs of a shocked. All that it took it took harder in awhile I mean really value added back 201010. As he'd. That was annually while worst the graduate and that was nine. You know what you receive from this company here called mission view it's starting out this ball. I'm pretty much what happens charging tuition upfront and then they take up 15%. Of your pre tax income each month for three years. As long as you make more than 50000 years of you don't get a job that's paying you 50000 a year so what is it coding school. So it's effectively. Looking. Release date and so it's not so much coding more. You know developing skills to work with data. 2000 people applied the program in ten days I don't think they've announced how many. They're gonna start with actually this fall. But I think it's interesting is that you know people were trying different things and I like this approach a lot more. You know when you're talking about a program like this that really is based more on your job training. I do kind of like today how well you're training you're able to get out afterwards that determines how much the college actually receives that like that idea. As far as it goes here I think that when you're talking about things that might be. Oh littlest director related you know specific job training appear history major your English major and things like that. It's a little tougher to duplicate those obviously have different match to a point but for something like this epidemic. Tom's sense technical training easy you know those guys are gonna get jobs. Awful lot of debt they have to take out due in prizes are carrying a pretty decent amount of debt. I think the bigger question is would the FTC allow any type of deal like that to go through. Just with a all the consolidation that you've had immediate to begin with title fight one old CBS. It's he's really the content that your that your own and when it's all said and done you know that's that's the big thing. That Verizon wants does anybody watch like. Regular TV anymore or is everything on demand or keep in mind at CBS isn't just. TV. You know it's you're also talking about movie properties you're talking about radio via business elbow issue. There's a whole bunch more that this on the radio I guess you're correct there. But there's a whole bunch of mean you're talking about. You know a whole bunch that goes into that entire. Why with Verizon alana by Comcast. Or or Universal Studios. Like that it's it's very clear what they want to do that for the calmed seeing it it's. It is all about content that is the only reason that these deals are even being talked about is everyone wants to own the content because they realized what he'd Netflix. But ever change the game. They realize that just having the pipe. Is it worth it anymore and it's not going to be in the future so it's actually if if I'm arise if from a rise in shareholder I'm sitting there saying. Okay this actually might make some sense from that perspective just because you want to own the content they're being proactive about it. I don't know if you need to go out and pay. That much for one of these companies know. You know like you have to go a million for CBS thought that month but you have to pay a 180 billion for Disney you know it's you have to go out and four. Comcast. Yeah Comcast is different you know did you go and pay 200000000000 and first of all just on that side of things I don't think of Verizon Comcast merger gets through his there's a lot of police were Verizon and Comcast here only two options on Comcast is getting into the cell phone business to. On Verizon's network now on so. I can't see that getting through the FTC just because I think it will be way way way way way too concentrated. But if if I'm Verizon what if I wanna produce content started content development on don't pay 200 billion dollars for someone else's it's. A way to do it though you know he'll he'll companies a distinct acquisition it'll take like Netflix increase. Sleazy and it's more costly Amazon's doing the right way let's say what am is on. You look at what they're doing for content. And I know they're not anywhere near what Netflix is yet in terms of content library but they're. Every month they get a little bit better.
