This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and shops. Exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news. And now the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and shocks. Fear of the gun. Known will almost always. Cause investors to sell their stocks. And that would lead to lower equity prices that is exactly what we saw yesterday. With a pretty broad based sell off in equities hi everybody it's very and truck with you here. I'll called the day after because today I'm looking at the markets and you know the broad based index of the S&P 500 truck is actually up four points. Yet S&P up about four of the Dow is down about six the NASDAQ in positive territory as well about half percent so kinda treading water right now. And I think that really markets are trying to digest. What the next step is where does this go from here and then we started to get a little bit of clarity on that. Last night after the market closed down actually from with the appointment of Robert Mueller as a special counsel to examine. Any potential Russian collusion with the trump campaign trump administration and he's pretty well respected as I understand it easily you know the I haven't heard. Either party come out and say oh well he's he he's not bipartisan they see Eddie he's a pretty well respected. Individually 72 years old which. You know you kind of ask yourself why does a 72 year old wanna take on a project of this magnitude is a lot of work yet the Mueller is effectively. A bow out as strong of a person is you could potentially find this. You know he is the big guy who back during. The Bush Administration had how effectively. Was working with James call me back then. And pretty much stopped the expansion of bus several Patriot Act provisions that were set to expire. He's widely respected on both sides of the aisle. He's pretty much known as the standup guy a Bulldog who gets work done. But typically has a very strong reputation for. Upholding the principles. Of the FBI so we're sitting here. The NLV. He mr. Miller starting to work on issues he's special counsel. Agassi as a special counsel that we should define what that role is he's basically got. He could subpoena anybody he can look at any document that he wants to and he can talk to anybody so he can interview Flynn he can interview. Manna for keeping Egan talked anybody he'd choose. He can't talk to the president he he does half to effectively work under Rogge Rosenstiel the deputy attorney general who is. Running the investigation after Jeff Sessions recused himself from it so we roasted steamed by the way responsible for the termination of combing largely. And effectively what you're seeing here is that anything that Mueller wants to do he has to run through Rosen Stephen Rose listing does reserve the ability. Two actually overrule him and say this is not the direction I want you to go win with this investigation no shortage of resources. No no shortage of resources but this is not the same kind of special prosecutor and special counsel that you saw during. The ninety's during the Clinton administration or during the Reagan administration and the reason for that is that the statute that provided that where. This the special prosecutor would be appointed by a three person panel as opposed to by one person. That lapsed in 1999 and was not since we knew so let's take a look at the different scenarios and the different different possible outcomes. Pro the first and best scenario would be quick. Quick amount of research done by the special counsel. Finding mr. trump was not guilty had nothing to do. And there was no relationship with Russia in it was a witch hunt and in the you know you're done in three weeks that to me. Would be the the best case scenario. What I am fearful of truck is that this is long and drawn out I talked to a friend of mine this morning from fox national front from foxy guys remember Jim Alito. Each had very he thinks this thing goes on at least until labor. There's there's been some chart this thing might not even be finished by the end of the year I mean this could actually disaster it could potentially drag out in the next year or longer depending on exactly. You know what what we end up seeing here and to give me an idea. If you look at some of the history coming out of the special an independent councils that have happened for previous. Large events Watergate was a very quick when that was over. And about a 150 days okay that's still not quite that's five months you remember Iran Contra deal 2500 days that was eight years to finally get that wrapped up. You go through Whitewater with the Clinton administration. Almost 3000. Days nearly a visit his notebook this much smaller than those preview the ones you're mentioning you would think it is but within. I don't necessarily know you know it's a again with any of these you don't. You don't necessarily know where they end up going. You remember the the Valerie Plame situation back in 2003 when. When the CA GOP CIA agent was exposed that was about 700 days the average land. TV there reason I'm I'm petrified that it's going to be long is you're not gonna get tax reform not gonna get Obama care reform repeal. You're not gonna get much in the way business deregulation I mean nothing is going to occur as long as this is investigations on the average like of these dating back to 197311154. Days that's three years let me give you another possible scenario. Donald Trump resigns. He resigns before July 4 Mike Pence takes over as president Jeremy Siegel whose city. Pretty well respected professor at Wharton school business says that happens you know thousand point rally in the market I would agree I think it. If Donald Trump resigned and Mike Pence took over I think that's a positive for the market is I think pence would just continue. The trump again because in theory you remove a lot of these question marks and allow. The administration to move forward there I don't know if that's necessarily. Realistic scenario I don't really see Donald Trump resigning you know times I don't know I don't see I think if these if he knows he's guilty. I think yours and he likes his job in the first place typically that's what you'd expect that I think again that is lead so early on here and and works so hard and deal with tents and says see you later bye. I think we're we're kind of jumping the gun there I mean as much as we've heard these leaks and so forth on both sides. Again I think that you have to rule out justice to be dollar and I give me a couple more scenarios impeachment process. Race day there are not gonna happen I need you'll never get 67 votes in the senate what I just don't think you ever see a Republican congress and Republican senate. You that you see congress 25 amendment. Physically and mentally capable of doing the job no highly unlikely. I let me get in the book EE you know everybody has their own opinion on on what we're discussing in an. We're not getting into the opinions on this were just telling you what the numbers to us by the way the Dow turned positive it's point point. The book keys are saying that there's any it and this is where people are wagering their own back rookies 55%. Probability. That trump exits prior to his term ending. Given that 27%. Chance that he leaves office prior to the end of the year by the way that is our poll question today. Do you think Donald Trump will leave. Office. He did we I haven't updated that page. The do you think Donald Trump will leave office before the end of the year he'd like to participate in our poll. You go to our website financial exchange showed dot com. Right now 61% of you. Surprisingly so I'm shocked it's that high right now 61% of you who have participated now we haven't had a participation it. Think that yes Donald Trump will resign before the end of the year. 38% saying no he will stay in office though. The the money go in and united debate this all we want where people are wagering their cash 27%. Should say that this chance that he. Resigned before the end of the year 33 you say no chance of impeachment 33% chance of impeachment and beat there's any chance impeachment. You know that date that's that's a hat that those of the those at the stats. Yeah we will see were plays at big news for you is that Trish Regan from the Fox Business Network. She will be joining us to talk about this earth topics in the church churches probably. If you don't know Trish she's from Portsmouth, New Hampshire but she is. Probably my favorite. Newscaster she used to be at Bloomberg and now she's far she's terrific you're gonna logger. If you join us to give us hurry in public as to what we can expect him but anything else to add an and I missed any scenarios there. I mean I think the big thing is it it is very early on in this process right now I think you have to let. Former FBI director Mueller kinda go about his business and do with staying as I said he's about as well respected as you can get. Even his field of work he's known as someone who's a very fair who someone who upholds the law above all else there. And I think that you're going to get you know whatever you get from him. I I think you can. Trust Tucker you I told me this morning that Roger Ailes died yes it was. Pushed out by Drudge got anything more on the no all we know is that his wife issues they've been pretty much confirm the report that Roger passed away you the last thing this morning but that's that's only knows that while no other details than that. Up next we will be joined by jolt palace soul from the Wall Street Journal here's the article headline. Moves to ease gun carrying restrictions expand or talk about. Concealed carry in how that is expanding in various states throughout the country might become federal law. That and more from our insurer match dot com Steve. There are strong here and I'm joined by Jake too who's a vice president and leader bank and we're talking about the housing market the housing market as you know. You know short of supply. Long on demand. And Jake for first time homebuyers. What what is your message to the young couple hours just somebody's out there looking to purchase their first time home. Yes so you know for first time home buyers what we are telling men are a couple things one be patient. Yes you know we we see a lot of first time homebuyers who are making 51015. Offers some two for finding out how and offers except it's extremely competitive okay. And so they have to temper their expectations. Oftentimes you're they're paying more than the other half to paying more than the asking price and a minutes is quite common right now in and in some cases they're actually having to to research other towns rooted in. Considered first because. You know it's very can't afford their dream home exactly. I'm getting were telling first time homebuyers to really be aware. Of all the mortgage products that are out there that are relevant to Tulsa but this leaders thirty yes so we're really excited about this product we just launched its cult leader thirty. And essentially what it is fixed rate loan. Where if you sign up to pay your mortgage automatically electronically that everybody does for the first year. You get to lower your interest repayment by one person that's very helpful offer because what it does is gives you break during that first twelve month period exactly so gives you little payment relief for your moving expenses that you still have the security of the fixed rate mortgage. We're joined now by Joseph palace soul from the Wall Street Journal he wrote an article posted a two days ago. Move to these moves to ease gun carrying restrictions expanded caught my attention asked them to join us on the show Joseph thanks for coming on. So how many states across the country allow residents to carry a concealed gun. So every state allows. You know they're resident they carry concealed weapon and some form. And and ended District of Columbia but it's sort of break down from there are so they're twelve states where you can carry concealed gun without a license or permit. It along if you're not you know otherwise prohibited you're not convicted felon or you can prevent involuntarily committed. To a mental institution so those are those twelve states but then you have 38 states that still require permanent. And and then you know they had those sort of breakdown into Q mark categories. And among those there's there's nine. State they're called -- issue that we've actually in New York. And in those states it is they're called may issue because the licensing official the people handing out a permit. They have discretion they contain no. If you know for instance stay you know if you have to show that the that there are good good reason to carry around the government yup. And then. Go out of the latter category of the show she states them in those one you can get a permit. You know. Pretty much there too long you have got to have a clean record. I'm okay now. The New Hampshire. Recently. Passed the law that allows their residents without a license to get a concealed Eric to buy a gun and and concealed carry correct. Date right now they can't bring that gun in the Massachusetts race at their goes say they're driving from Nashua. To Boston to go to dinner they can't bring that in to Massachusetts site and that done. No no they can't. The the only way that if you're at New Hampshire resident that you can carry your concealed guns somewhere else it is. New Hampshire has an agreement with your state and and they that you have or don't have agreement has 28 of them. But Massachusetts is not among them endorse New York. And those agreements that don't require permanent so. Even. Even though they don't require a permit it was in the state the hill. That you know they're still giving elk permits so that people travel to the other states that agreement with Hampshire. Now week in reading your article though you alluded to the fact that congress is considering a law. That would allow for that would I think they that would allow a New Hampshire resident to. Bring a gun and a concealed gun into another state is as I Anderson. Yet that carried portraits. Reciprocity legislation that congress is considering right now I think basically. It's you know if your authorized in your own states carry concealed gun even if it's without a permit you can carry it to the other 49. So that's in congress it looks like it might pass rated it seems to have support. Aid to get through congress. The house and it. Today could mean it is that they can legislature would need sixty votes in the senate and you know that seemed like a pretty tough road right now. You know all things considered then. But senator cornyn sponsors in the senate you know he he introduced a similar measure in 2013. And pick up 57 votes so you know that was when the Democrats in control these Republican. They had thirteen Democrats who voted for it and you know so so all is gonna really comes down to them. At least one of those guys. Senator Warner from Virginia is who supported it previously Democrat said that he's not going to support it now so you know but that the gun control groups and and put the gun rights groups there and others are really. Can be sort of focusing on those those. You know thirteen 1213 calendars. How would this federal law impact background checks. You know these would be would there be a national guideline as a relates to background checks prior but purchasing a gun. So I wouldn't. It would directly. Impact background checks. Eat yet you still have to get a background check under federal hall from. From a licensed dealer right but it played in Massachusetts and a few other states. Even if you're getting a gun from that your neighbor. You have to get a license before you get a gun and you have to do a background check without license. So that wouldn't change at all the only thing that would changes that you have people coming in from out of state who. For instance you know they may not have a background check to buy their gun because in a lot of states you don't have to get a background check if you're just buying on Leno for the classifieds or look at that a neighbor or you know any of the on line then. Net and not all the online places but certainly there are a lot of places public recently gone without having to undergo a bad country. Very good very good with thank you very much they'll appreciate your time I didn't a lot of what you told the site was unaware of and I appreciate your joining us. Joseph palace solo from the Wall Street Journal and now how do you feel that he is it should gun control be a federal law our new elected being on the state level the RD care. I don't necessarily have strong feelings on it's one of those issues where I just don't really it's not something that's kind of central. Anything that I believe about where the economy's going so I think in general. I don't really care too much I'd prefer to keep it on a state by state basis just because I think. That states have been able to Taylor. Their laws to how of their own constituents work from but it's I don't have strong feelings either way I don't love the idea that. You know you can be places in one state that has you know lower requirements and all the Sydney take your gun into a state that has higher ones and a I don't know I love that moment but I don't have strong feelings real night time for trivia here on the financial exchange here. Same store sales so Wal-Mart take a look at their earnings years they came out and their same store sales of one point 4% growth. At their US stores a lot better than Macy's are better than Macy's. In I think you know in general. If it's a decent number for retailer of that size is tough to gross sales when you won't hear it it just is at this point. More importantly I think they showed some significant growth under Digital's how much okay about 63%. This quarter and I've told you guys it's not bad if it's not the problem is it's not I've got to give it another try hey I've I've been I haven't tried the year that you got a budget dot com. Street watch a look at the market's performance so far today but I still buried in shock right here on the financial exchange radio network. It is time for Wall Street plots were joined by Mike Armstrong. Michael you markets today NASDAQ making a big run up about point 7% so rebounding a bit what's leading the way here. You have we had a real. Rough day yesterday mark trying to claw back I think there's seems to be a little bit of and general columnist and just. Happiness wooden bowl or regular appointments. Mark is Colin Powell businesses and bipartisan support of that so yesterday the street all were stated mark history but today 8 o'clock back. What is going on in Brazil I see Brazilian markets taking an absolute beating today. Down about 9% how calm. He had really rough we don't talk about Brazilian markets all that often would be like you mention the Brazilian and get index above that is down it was down over 10% now it's down about 9%. Very big newspaper that their bribing a witness to remain silent. In regards to a corruption investigation into his office so and obviously over the turmoil down there and hurt ourselves that. Lastly we've got a couple retailers here that a movie decent amount. We've got Wal-Mart moving in the positive direction. In a single retail group moving down about 40%. While the reasons for these two companies moving today. Yes a Wal-Mart. The you know. We're caught looking at retail these days for mortars the stroke but Obama actually a pretty good earnings report their earnings were up bout were cents a share of the revenue was little bit light. Exceeding the 2008 peak after years of retrenchment against the backdrop of the financial crisis recession and modest economic growth. On the surface you'd think that that's bad news. If you could mean there's there's different ways to look at this the first. Is obviously a consumers are back up to the same levels of debt they held back then we also how that worked out and it's you know not going to be. If things aren't going to be good after. It'll be necessarily need to be panic because it's okay the first reason. Is that on a per person basis we're not up to the same level that we get twenty million more people in the US today that we did back in no way I came across as that I wanted to run this by in the first quarter. Total debt was 67%. Of GDP. It was 85%. Of GDP in 2008 so if you're looking audit in terms of you did the gross output of the economy right it's still not that have that tells me. That's that's very positive number one thing you again we didn't factor in population growth we Austin factor in inflation look okay so you know nominally. Yet the same amount but in terms of you know eight dollar to dollar comparison. As you mentioned there when you compared to GDP which I think is a much better barometer we're still significantly below the threshold that we got to. Back in the we have to VOA crisis let me give you the bad news what's the bad news Dallas. Sheets look different now. Less housing related debt which I think if you have housing related debt is an asset backing it up so I like that. However now we have more student debt and more automobile loans as of the first quarter only 60%. Of total household debt was in the form of mortgages. In the in the third quarter when he wait mortgages were 73% of total debt. Student loans get this guys. Student loan debt rose from above 5% to twenty late 211% today more than double student loan debt. And totally dead and so when you add auto loans auto loans went from 6% to 28 to 9% today. Those those numbers should scare the heck Eddie you young guys. The auto loans scare me more than the student loan or not me. Student loan debt student loan debt at least you can make the case that it's going to lead to higher earnings overtime that's with every single statistic states there's no data that shows that auto loans and result in anything paused. Okay well economic growth. There you have enough that individual. The openness of the cars some bank finance loans will note how is that any different from the student loan but got economic growth to yes you know it. I would rather have people taking out student loans that Karl. The student loan at least he can say regularly you'll get a degree computers right here at least investigate yourself with a car alone. Buying it depreciating asset at the unit or nothing ten years. Some more good news in the first quarter borrowers with credit scores under 620. Accounted for less than 4% of mortgage originations that's very good news compared with 50%. A decade earlier right so Ford fifteen. Borrowers with credit score this is amazing it borrowers with credit scores of 76760. Or higher. Had about 61%. Of originations last quarter vs only 24%. And that is my quarter Q seven mind. I can't believe it was only 24%. Of originations. Here's to another point to your being ticked off about auto loans. Auto loans remained relatively available to sub prime borrowers helping fuel the record vehicle sales. About 15 of automobile loan originations last quarter went to borrowers with credit scores below 620. And I don't mean to speak disparagingly I understand you may have had a problem navy got sector you'd lost your job unexpectedly in the bad Michael score. But if you consistently have by a score of under six Tony. It means you're dead beat you do not pay your bills on time and in my opinion and I and go on a limb here track I think anybody who loans money. To somebody with a Lycos score with 620 your last is asking for trouble. And one of our techsters Texan from 50 wait maybe the increasing auto loans is an indication of more people going back to work that could be some of that my bigger concern. Isn't the fact that we have more auto loans the size of them the average loan that being issued now on new cars is north of 30000 dollars we know the average person. Makes about 50000 dollars you the average families about 55000 so. When I look at this my big problem isn't that people are buying cars if that they're buying cars that are too expensive. For what they're earned there are great cars that can be had. In the twenty to 25000 dollar range I drive one of them I know this so you don't have to see electric cars Tucker. Yeah I'm an I'm Erin well approximate the biggest one I can get you know just to get paid your generations to an exit etc. I guess as seal the mine was not the one that bought suvs and home equity lines. Donald Trump may be the first president in quite awhile who's looking forward to a trip to the Middle East he's going to be tested at a Washington. He's going to be over there for a week it's a nine day trip that he's going to be taking there. And in particular I think that a lot of the saudis he's roll out the red carpet they love this lot of people have their eyes on now what's gonna be coming out of the summit in Saudi Arabia it's happening I believe it's going to be in four days. And so what you're seeing here. Is the saudis ready to pretty much as you said roll out the red carpet they want they want. Well what they want is an easy place to sell or whether they also want them repealed that law that Obama put in place to allow US to suit right. These days is that a big part of the deal here well I believe Obama beat him you know. That would that was a law that was passed by congress. Is there some concern that it comes back those of the US nature is Saudi Arabia. Wants to make sure it doesn't come back like I think they'd like to I mean obviously the concept of sovereign immunity is pretty important when it comes to where we've gotten to in the twentieth and 21 centuries so. It's something that you know personally I think that if it's a concept that needs to be respected there. But you know obviously there's some pretty strong feelings there just because the thought does Iran play into this. In what way. Quality is Saudi Arabia does have exactly cozy relationship with the wrong don't they don't and I think you're shooting war in Yemen. It's two countries that he would say they don't like each other I don't think does enough justice these two countries have some. Massive disagreements and and they are in the shooting more effectively by proxy. In Yemen at this point and so. You know they they don't like each other obviously. Russia is align with Iran on a number of issues. The saudis have used the US kind of as a buffer against Iran in a number of cases using them to help issue sanctions and so forth have guests and that this saudis would like to see US oil production slowdown. Sure they'd like to I don't know if they're gonna find the ability to do so I mean all week although we're likely to see yet it is continued increases in US production now the cost keeps coming down what are we trailed prenuptial 48 dollars US if we're taking a look at the WTI the west Texas intermediate that's 4930 right now Brent crude. 5246. Long on demand. And Jake. For first time homebuyers with what is your message to the young couple hours just somebody's out there looking to purchase their first time home. Yes so you know for first time home buyers what we are telling them are a couple things one. Be patient yes you know we we see a lot of first time homebuyers who are making five and fifteen offers them two for fighting house now and offers except it's extremely competitive okay. And so they have to temper their expectations. Oftentimes they're they're paying more than the other half to. Paying more than the asking price and a now it is quite common right now in and in some cases they're actually having to to research other towns rooted in. Considered first because. You know it's very pad can't afford their dream home exactly. I'm getting we're telling first time homebuyers to really be aware. Of all the mortgage products that are out there that are relevant to Tulsa but this leaders thirty yes so we're really excited about this product we just launched its cult leader thirty. And essentially what it is is that fixed rate loan from. Where if you sign up to pay your mortgage automatically electronically and everybody does for the first year. You get to lower your interest rate payments by one person that's very helpful offer because when it does is it gives you a break during that first twelve month period exactly so gives you little payment relief for your moving expenses that you still have the security of a fixed rate mortgage. I'm more stock talk with Stephen Guilfoyle from thestreet.com it's certainly isn't Stephen joins us Stephen thank you coming on this right now. It Steve we're talking about Wal-Mart here obviously reporting their quarterly earnings. Late yesterday I believe it was. Read this morning and sorry. What are we see from them and does it change how you're thinking about the company. Oh not at all like Ike hit in very bullish on Wal-Mart actually I've long been named as a disclosure purposes. It's earnings per share a dollar vs expectations of 96 cents to the whispers I heard were high as 98 cents. More importantly revenues met expectations of a 117 point five billion adjuster the currency little higher which was one point 4% role. Year over year which is but it was sourced from target which actually sort contraction and that's based. Same store sales or shall one point 4%. But the most impressive number that you and yours because you cover ups 63%. Which is important because they were unified in real life against him as a there were some negatives coming in the probably could've expected this quarter which did not. To severely which we play tax returns are for what is concerned their cork or in. But Purdue turn. Refunds and me. Also despite whatever is on its ongoing fight is pretty pressures on margins and albeit via the German grocers actually. Selling groceries at a discount where wal mart's old which. Ubiquitous stores and sales but actually this is quite good there's a lot of reasons apart wanna go on are likely to be a lot of wanna buy this stock but only speak. When we talk about the young the online group they're obviously that's 69% growth number jumps off the page. In terms of actual dollar value what's the what's the dollar value that would that Wal-Mart selling online right now. You know they've been taking it a little bit of a discount but it's not to bed. They're the margin here is better than what I see elsewhere and it's it's basically because they're putting up such a tremendous fight against Amazon date they have this thing that a lot people have probably looked into too much of their own gamers are so. Cold stored number doubt that's on silicone valley it's an incubator for developing ideas and technologies it's gonna try and their hope the future of AI and machine learning it's basically an answer to a election it away. And their first project out that is called code eight which is they're going to try to develop one on one shopping experience. They also have another. What you wanna call laboratory's effort Cisco which is developing. Tried to develop new concepts in all the retail. On top of this acquisitions. They've taken over Jett dot com Q buy dot com boost to a lot all the talk in the bottom boat that's all the way there so. What they're doing is they're aggressively pursuing. Internet. Businesses that don't really. That are not that closely associated with their core customer to different kind of customer they'll putting up their fists and they are fighting. You probably also part of the pickup discount program. I tested this out this actually works pretty well and what it does it allows the consumer. To remove that last mile of cost and shipping costs. And go to the store pick up the product not at the price of the product. But at a discount because you're making the effort which not only increases. Internet sales but hopefully. Gets more store traffic because when you when you do stop it will retail outlet hoping that'll be some people. By something else. On the way out how significant are those discounts. I did it's I think there's this to working on it probably. Depending on on the cost of the product probably maybe between had a 20% I I have not seen final numbers on this side only experiment with cheap products. Yeah that's but it opened fire on TV if you're buying a big you know sixty and plots 68 flat screen that's a significant amount of. Right and then not. First I don't think they're going to sell you the product at a discount if they haven't on the shelf right there and what they are going to expand the program and it probably will include more than a million products. By the beginning of June so it's the program is in its infancy and I'm sure that it will evolve further. But as you can see from this from this last quarter that they've really. As much as a retailer could in this environment. They knocked the cover up the ball. I'm actually raising my price target but at CA BC if you like this your first yeah plus 977 of the prime target I would actually that. Was kissed this morning girl yet but he opened. Adam got to raise that price toward the seven quarter to. While surrogate Steve and thank you for joining us today. RU Stephen Guilfoyle from the street talking about Wal-Mart ticker there is WMC. Sect that. Pick ups store pick up idea. And getting discounted price. In your family living on a budget. You're buying and only the two is an example along more or you're buying and an outdoor swing set right yup you go to the store pick it up and you save fifty bucks hundred bucks for a month. Why the original two kids and in you'd go pick it up I think he said that a lot of the big ticket items that they haven't stores they're not discount. No but let's say to specialty item they don't have in the store that you order through Wal-Mart would use the backyards going sector that are of you've looked at those guys out and they are expensive. It would not something on buying any time soon know enough for your new vector turn he should be I love slides but it's just out of my budget but 7800 bucks easy to spend on as a says the and if you if you could spend as much as vibrant but if you pick it up and see you know significant amount I think consumers deal with the big yeah. That we should all be naming our spouse as the primary beneficiary of our individual retirement accounts in Portland case yet generally that's what we recommend and in the case of 41 k.'s are actually required to name your spouse. As the beneficiary there so in general. Spouses are gonna typically be the first person that you name as a beneficiary on any retirement plan it simply makes things the cleanest and easiest approach of treating happens to how has treated chuck if your wife inherits your IRA. If you start taking the money out right away how's how's that investment treated once she receives no this is why we say it's the easiest and cleanest because of a spouse dies in the other spouse inherits an IRA or 41 K they don't have to start taking any distributions right away. Unless they're already over the age where they have to take them at seventy and have to begin all right. Many of you were concerned that the stock market would sell off would continue into today especially after the announcement that there's going to be special counsel. Appointed in the name of Robert bowler. And I I can tell you globally. The markets sold off overnight however today I'm looking at the Dow Jones Industrial Average and it's up 56 points hi everybody it's variant chuck with you here. On a Thursday and pleasant surprise to. Little bit of moved back up and markets Dow up 56 as you mentioned ST EP. Up about nine points right now and the NASDAQ up forty. Not really seeing a ton of confirmation on the bond side of things ten year treasury still a 2.2 2%. Or I'm sorry at two point yes 2.2 two per south that. That's lower than it was yesterday during the show. And you're right with that probably indicates is that it's a low volume rally. Eight because if it was a high volume rally utes the ten year treasury interest rate going up with enough. Yea just not seeing a sell off in bonds that would be indicative of people having. Their fears put to bed I think this is a market that's kind of bouncing around this level after the events of yesterday saying okay. We feel I'm comfortable here but we're not quite ready to move in in another direction yet so. It's. I viewed today mores a market pause than anything else right now. And I think it's probably gonna take a few days to sort through. What the next steps are and whether or not you know that the sell off yesterday again as we talked about. Was on the threat of the agenda. Being derailed as far as tax cuts tax reform but I think a single area that's still very real threat. It is and I think it's gonna take a little bit more time to see. What the next step is and if there's going to be a measurable impact there both folks if you remember Trish Regan. Eighties. Many of you will remember she she hails from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Delightful young woman who's gonna join us in the next segment. She was the one that I was lobbying for war to be take Megyn Kelly's job at fox she didn't get it. She is a big job at Fox Business she's one of their lead anchors it she's gonna join us in the next segment what were gonna talk to her about our. What are the different scenarios. That could play out. As it relates to the special counsel investigation. Will let her do it if she's. Right on the ground there she's got. Accessed a lot of information. And she'll share that with us momentarily sued don't torture radiant heat she's been a joyous and very quickly. On the talk about General Motors. I saw on notice that they're gonna stop selling cars in India there also gonna stop selling cars in South Africa. And when I heard that point one would you walk away from the Indian market what is the second largest country in the world much population you know. Nobody there in near just say in there and they've been selling cars in India since 1918. That's a long time. The long time and obviously as you mentioned it is a big market. To be giving ups the question is look why you know what's what's the real reason. Behind their move out of there and that the reason I think is the single biggest thing. Is that GM one of the ways they've tried to build out their platforms trying to use a lot of the seem. It destruction a lot of the same chassis global yeah okay the problem is that with India. The income levels there are so low that vehicle cost have to be so low it that they it's a very fragmented markets can be hard for Toyota though and Volkswagen and you know forward in the he lit who's selling cars in India and it's got to be. Apparently who wears Tata Motors said Indian. Cut ties Indian in OK and there are like five grand you talk about and this is a list of the ten best selling cars in India okay. The number one. Is the number one auto maker. Is my rotten Rudy Suzuki. Okay which is based subsidiary of Suzuki then and they've sold about two point six million vehicles last year. There's another of them root you do is see your race then which is also you know somewhere around two of these cars and not sold in North America now it's it's a very pregnant you've got a couple Mondays out there you've got another camera you've got ma. Not a nominee cartoons you know how many cars are silent rather in India. I don't have the data were. I it's like 23 million a year in 24 million a year. Chinese market is where GM is focusing their efforts Chinese there they're gonna which would GM's gonna do is focus in China. And South America primarily in say south American heroes talk about Brazil and Brazil comprise the tournament people whose. Yet in in India right now. So in terms of production I have the numbers are trying to dig up the GS and keep it ironically GM's gonna continue to produce cars in India is not insult them. Insulate it looks like India there is about fourteen and a quarter million vehicles when that were sold almost when he fifteen that's almost as many and you us. Just about regular 79. Just about the big differences India ready and have probably 7000 dollar cars as opposed to 37 I don't even know who beat out much to be honest what and I thought it was like five to 7000 dollar if it probably it's a public urgent cry from the yeah yeah in that ballpark if remember the average person in India per capita income there in 7100 dollars a year now. 7100 dollars when we hear 51 note. Here we're look household income here in the US has about 5557. May yet the United States per capita income here is 57000. Per capita at those house per capita. Despite promises to Donald Trump carmakers. Our fire and auto workers say we reported on this yesterday Ford who's reporting what 20000. Retiring. Twenty including about 10% of their. Office staff as well this can be very highly compensated employees. And the fact is that what it's a good thing is I mean like I hate to be I would wanna be one of the workers fired when a company trims the fat. Not a bad thing. Well it's it's not a bad thing in terms of in the short term it tends to keep stock prices afloat it's not a way to grow in the long. Yeah you you don't grow by cutting you can only. You know keep your stock price floats along by cutting and we saw that in the period after 2009 partner is that there's only so much coding that you can do. Eventually you have to be able to grow cutting is a means that you can get to that next growth opportunity. But obviously look. GM Ford Chrysler they're gonna go out and do what they have do to keep their businesses afloat that is more important to them. Than anything else because otherwise with. Thank goodness we have France. You know as bad as an agenda me I did I I grateful. That France is around. And really tell you why you always need somebody that's a bad example right and France is just a terrible example freight here here's the headline. You'd be shocked when you use them. France's unemployment rate. Falls to the lowest level since Tony twelfth soreness other headlines talk grabbed you know pulled stories as far as the lowest level since when he twelve. Played unemployment rate must be like 45%. The unemployment rate in France in their bragging about it is nine point 3%. He met with the use it sizzle and sell all going to be like. 20/20 5% you know in some people say oh that's just the and competitiveness of the EU. Not the case you take a look over the UK UK right now four point 8% unemployment Germany 4% unemployment now. You know what is wrong with France and he just it's if they just lazy way. Hopefully he's he's the retailers are worker there. And I look at a targeted member GE sold that that division over in France and they that you had a lot a GM sold Opel. If you read the reports if you read the corporate reports on the east on these sales. They're saying things like you know we we we the reason we're selling is we want to fire 5000 people what we can only fire a hundred you know we're not allowed to fire the F. It's part of what kind of country is that where. Corporations are allowed to invest in and hire people but they're not allowed ever fired. It's a very different culture and I mean it's a very very much a socialist country at this point there's no doubt about it. You know one of the consequences there as you do have a higher unemployment rate that's it's the fact that you simply do. Now and you know what is that underemployment rate. I don't know but it can't be good and Sysco laying off 11100 workers at 11100 more workers. Cisco continuing to do some trimming your another 11100 employees after. 5500 they announced back in August. This is another about one and a half percent of Cisco's workforce that is going to be. Laid off fear. And the big thing that they're continuing to see revenue ticking down to just not bringing in the sales that they want to. And when that's the case you do have to make cuts like this that they are trying to live to fight another day. Up next we will be joined as promised by Trish Regan from the Fox Business Network. Trish is gonna walk us through the various scenarios. As it relates to the inquiry that is being conducted by Robin. Robert Mueller by the way don't forget. Please participate in our poll today do you think Donald Trump will leave office before the end of the year 21% of you say yes. The financial exchanges of live on FaceBook so make sure like your page and watched the guys break down the latest on the markets every day beginning at ten on the financial exchange radio network. The markets are open today and there in positive territory after a pretty big selloff yesterday. Many of us are concerned about the various scenarios that can play out from the special counsel investigation we're joined by Trish Regan from Fox Business Network to. Help us walk thru hiker who. It so what how do you see this playing out I won here I have Trish is that this is long and drawn out woody you're. Woody your suspicions news when you look at what's going on. I mean any time out here. It is going to be on. On a lot of the other reality. You feeling I. Iron. In week. Members the last. Angry over the Republican Party is well. Don't want it now. They're going. That I. And that really good news of the market at the court big market. The goal is new car economies that bowl is earnings and part of that. Is. Something it would be illegal act and I'll. Pack at. In their late Obama care act like Italy or Albany. They don't care what side of the political aisle you're on an economically. Our record is good though. These agenda items. Because there's a whole market gone on lock it. Then that's not. Rate what is that likelihood that he and congress work while the special investigators in session and can they couldn't get anything out of adding. Well buried by the way they. Work. You know that they have and they awkward app. That I'll it will. At the factory in a lot of it here. And so the whole like. A bigger and where he'll be. On that money and he'll he'll get. And policy. Group. I think. I. I think that congress. Political all the their. Political yet and now they have the epic. Work on and the respect that. Democrat. Oh my did you want the economy. Right. But that put it. And the public and they. What how long does this drag on for trash is it possible to forecast a mean Robert Moeller. Pretty well respected. It seems like it's a somewhat limited in scope investigation how long's it gonna take. I mean I I do very you're and the caller is very well respected her book but the oh people. I clearly. Hold him in high regard though. Theoretically. Want the eco pretty quickly. But again. Under a debate. The power want the low round to drag it out. Look I think he appeared that it will take some time. You know the market pretty they. Spoke with bill wrote yesterday. Legendary investor and the big. He would say it it cleaner. Bet it and like art or really get on. Any in the spring that the market why. Don't you get it getting out late at Bryant they are. They. I am a week. It kept coming right there at regular played a bit less regulation is any AAA. Oh on the panel. It did just. Behind valuation in the market he Altman made that point it's an company. That it on the sideline call our half. It actively. Put the economy along they've got a great great he set out there going to be able. Because things are gonna really start low one of the front straight and many members market how. But the Obama administration was that nothing got done right. On the fiscal policy perspective. And the consequently it was all lit up the bad. Monetary policy. And they were hopeful that that would start change but given this if you're in now I think people without. Well most investors that I talked to in outside about hedge fund and mutual fund investors advised it that managers. Derek they're counting on these tax cuts by January 1 of twenty team. Yet it clear that that is and there are added it is not necessarily in the car right. Right right terse thank you very much I appreciate your time and have a good day. That's Trish Regan from the Fox Business Network and IG's basically confirming what we talked about earlier check in the in this damn thing is not gonna go away quickly or quietly. Notes it is a threat to continue to linger and let me begin as as I mentioned earlier the average talent when you go and take a look at all of you the special counsel special prosecutor independent counsel. You go through and look at all of the different ones we've had since 1973. The average time is taken them to come to a conclusion. 11155. And this is different if the this should be very limited let's go right you that if the talk talk and fourteenth talk to Flynn. I mean if if this is not that complicated than it is this the new year compare it to things like Iran Contra. I mean. I'm hoping maybe I'm being. Ninety. You did Barack say this is that al-Qaeda Valerie Plame leak was about his straightforward and simple as it could be up to 700 days since I thought it condor you know that's how you do justice you don't. Everyone always says don't rushed it would to judgment let them take that like let them do think two years. Do you want it to be done right or do you want to be done quickly just can't imagine it takes two years to conduct these and you talk about interviewing a couple guys. If no one else is there not just interviewing a couple of guys you go through financial records you go through transmission records you go in the jockey you've told me in the past that that is all that much more rapidly today. It was never done. You still have to do it. Discovery memories discovery would take months and I think you think the US government is using state of the art technology. I'd like to think so though. I would like yeah do you know how old most of the systems are losing stuck between 25 years ago. Partly by design advocates it's less it's more difficult to get into those systems which you bring this stuff up does include medication use was part prozac in ought. For me. Right I mean yeah again I think you should be providing it in theory by drug ID tighter on the title the medication while we all are now. He thought he thought. This to pump up. Tucker I can do this in a couple weeks I can take care. Crop in tackling Medicaid immediately again you look at some of these things you remember Whitewater 94 when it started. And when that finally finished it was like ten years later. Now. On on the positive news McDonald's is expanding their delivery. The more than 1000 restaurants across the United States it integrates some good news yes we do you not after the bad news bears is that you have to still live in the new cities of LA Chicago Columbus. And Phoenix. Chart for. If it's it's in conjunction with Lowber overeat is typically somewhere between four and seven dollar charge depending on the restaurant in the distance that rounds of four dollars too much for McDonald's. I would pay one dollar for McDonald's delivery Atlanta area it would have to be like 3 AM on Saturday and it is nothing also are exactly. I noted golf Orleans I know what a tennis ball single entity basketball is but I don't know little bar it's at. Think he mentioned golf balls because there's probably a lot of people would like to view of our ball up on a two in just. An item as far as they could. Lavar ball is beyond the father of Alonso ball who's expected to be one of the top couple picks in this year's NBA draft Africa the real gritty play college ball. You see alike. The reason that Lavar is notable because he has started his quote big ball or brand. Of shoes and apparel. That he is claiming is worth three billion dollars which caused every shoe company to pretty much walk away from his son and he released. Their first few for 495. Dollars which is about three to four times what the typical basketball shoe retails war. And no one really knows how many sold but the expectations are not a lot. And generally. He's a fairly. Miserable person to listen to. The old man yeah very populous what about the kid it seems nice enough me because I. Good he'll be a top to pick in this coming draft remains Celtics take him no no wanna. Because. Paul is better and the death. Now the that is a factor for any team has contracted that's got like coaches fired at every level. Yeah the dead like I was happy with how his high school coach coaching and sued by the coaching became the coach yeah I feel bad for the scared. Having to deal with this I mean he's he's pricing and out of this the sneaker business really. Three billion dollars really you know everybody in line and outs anyway if the professional level. No coach is gonna put up with this crap. Right they're not gonna want me it's gonna hurt to go far ball soup company is not worth 40% of on Iran. Rightly it's just out so it'll definitely. Under armored value is about eight billion dollars will more ball shoe company is not worth 40%. Here's a question we are all going to receive the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend. What's that how I drive yet posed on the price of gasoline. Erica every memorial. It happens prices ticking back up a little bit here ought to 34 gallon I'm expected to lock continue to rise a little bit as the price of oil has we're going to be. About eleven cents more than this time last year were about to 24 heading in the Memorial Day last year. Now expect to be probably at 235 to forty range any reason or is it isn't gouging. There's probably a little bit gouging but you have seen gas prices now oil prices go up over the last a week on the deal from OPEC its pending at 49 right. We are down 45 you know him. You know. You know the real estate industry is freaking out. Over inventory levels they see it it's happening in so he may have had this experience on your own but it's happening. Last weekend. A realtor was going door to door in my neighborhood. Knocking on the doors in handing out a flyer and their business card looking for home listings and asking people would you consider selling your house. Yeah it's it's it's crazy just because there's so little inventory now and what the real estate industry saying is look. Our agents can't find enough property sale which it it's kind of testing had never thought of it from that perspective yeah this actually picked up ballistic. In his wife Dana if he picks up the listing he said you know. Think what happened was. He said I'm knocking on doors because and I got summit he said somebody's gonna with their house they said they were they're gonna wait another year to and I told how much they can get for the house that decided the list. Typical home this year in April was under contract in forty duties. Forty days that under contract and what it used to be what sixty days. And it was this is ten days faster just than last year so yeah I mean you would typically see. Yeah act on in that 6090 days I think was standard. You know it's it's been it's quick I'll tell you I mean even when you know I was selling my place I was under contract and sixteen I wish I could tell you that this was a bubble. In some place you know again I I will tell you I think there's a couple of more years on figured it could be. Five baby Chloe put it this way when I look at real estate values there's nothing that I consider that tells me. That they're gonna start going down in the near term like I don't see. A recession coming ID even if you don't get any media that the tax stuff done yup I don't think you're gonna go into a deep recession if you have a recession will be up. You know minus 1% GDP recession for six months nine months and then you're out -- ideas there's nothing exceeded on the horizon. That they would it would cause real estate values. He declined and the other thing I don't see is is I don't see a lot of builders say and yet I can't wait to build the spec houses. And and you know make. More inventory that we were talking earlier this week we're still probably in terms annualized pace of home construction that 20% underwear we need to be in the long. What is millennial post. I'm not a villain for avocados to. I don't know millennial what is avocados toast on the got to tell us it's what I was made from opt out of but you put up on toast now I think it's like sprouted or something isn't is that really I met your own I've had before it's delicious the real thing now. We suited. All the pictures IC with a headline the Leary to have when they're not eating avocados like it's right on there millennial spend five hours a day doing this what is it that Mullen heels as inaudible. Double. I had actually twice. The age of the ever won the bullets that. I'll make you feel old today it's located. On. Where he spent five hours that they do. Outlook in our phones real. It's there's about 25%. Of millennial look at their phones more than a hundred times today. Half the millennial look at their phone more than fifty and one in four millennial spent five hours today and their phone 50% spend at least three hours. I was actually concerned about my phone use heading into this year you know it's actually got an app that tracks. And so actually name via the app that I got it's called moment ammo and yhency. Okay. And it tracks how much your on your phone so I kinda left for January and February just say okay how much by using it back and I was using my own about two hours today. That's 17% my waking life which really disturbing and what he's doing now. Now I looked the last week or syslog back to last Saturday okay. Hour and fifteen minutes throughout. Two hours and six hour forty hour two hours thirty it's about an hour and a half he's cutting back. I thought about well done to change your phone news I'd just whenever a ticket I just stop it it just fundamentally triggers me to stop it now so whenever I see it. I just wanted to not be spending so much time on the phone I was wasting my life and one's. Though not in it's not in here you have to download the app to track and download the app but I've I've got my phonies from two and a half hours to an hour and a happy and I'm hoping to get under an hour a day by the end of the year was you do chart sometimes that life. Catch myself checking my phone. And it's not normal I'm checking my phone it does that make sense when I guess it's like it's like you just pick it up to look at it like you don't need to know what you're really doing with it. But what's interesting is just so much information I thought oh yeah I promise of going on Twitter closing Twitter and then looking in my phone again and reopening Twitter literally thirty seconds later but what do we do that I'm a big weather. In among others in the last ninety days and averaging about an hour and 27 minutes today. Hey if you're over the age of fifty what you remember that called ski. Yes yes the IIDDY. I told you downloaded that. Cools that whoever it was that discount rapper Kool walking through. My granddaughters live in Wellesley so why take them for walked as these as they babysit them. I'm walking to Wellesley might fold BP so as I walked by these stores notified you it's telling me hey if you go to subway you get a discount real danger now is. You're too young again. Do you get a subway itself but it's nice to know them now they hate it I feel special. The what was it like a dollar office of public well it's like it's a different counts and biscuits and getting ticket thing that Perry I wanted to happen idea. Well I will I will but what I'd like McDonald's but it. Here's what I like to McDonald's is involved and I'll buy anything about. You walk into. Hardware store you may not know that there's a discount that you're entitled to. Your people will tell you folks start vibrating your pocket today discount your your world hardware. Days. It's ought to be well and good until you walk past the funeral home and they're like thousand dollars off you know again. I'd like this man I don't against him stop marketing to me. Isn't that the humor who's gonna by the Miami narrow laughing. Miami Marlins got the use way overpriced. If I think it might be you've got a couple different job creators that are out here. Jeb Bush as well as Derek Jeter are heading up one group. You've also got tag Romney the son of Bob Mitt Romney heading up another group that includes Tom Glavine. Both of these bids apparently aren't worth. Of one point three billion but neither one of them has any money you have the money they pretty much have to borrow all of this which. I tell you I think that sports franchises in the next round of bargaining where yet these TV deals coming up I think you're gonna find these are lead. Oh value would this one even today is over about his early bringing in what 200 million. In that ballpark every inning 200 million normal valuations for one of these franchises is four times artsy you're you have hundreds queries should be these guys are bidding one point three billion. It's part of it's just because it's almost a vanity. Typed it notes when you get rich enough that you can do this and it's kind of like well I own the team I don't I don't know if you think people still think that way. I think per media suffered somewhat in that it was going for its own story and and credit. Can it be aliens. Created site element into a movie didn't really need that so it was kind of neither they nor fowl but this one. I it's all of the familiar thing expect the aid is admittedly. Very predictable with a lot of places but that doesn't mean it's not effective beautifully shot. Comic book that actually couple weeks I get I terrible it up the what this week is that diary or what he critic really don't like only about 28 that. There intimately it's gonna be on demand is weak and called week field. We're Brian Cranston and this drama about a guy who. Basically cut it ego. Retreat from light and I got an attic this drama about a guy is. The goal being out more odd is that interesting movie kind of worth checking out especially but it crested and right correct then.
