This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and shut sun out. You're exclusive look good business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news and improve day. And none of the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. This isn't than usual time. Americans are really optimistic about the economy but it's no longer helping the president this according to a CNBC. Survey. Hi everybody it's Berrian talked with you here on a Tuesday. And CNBC trucks surveyed 800 Americans across the country. In the latest all American. Economic survey in the results showed optimism about the economy hit. 30%. For second straight quarter that is the first such occurrence in the survey's history so. It doesn't sound like a lot but 30% of Americans. Are optimistic and bullish about the economy which is normally. That would be a really good number but it's for some reason there bullish about the economy but they're not really feeling very good about the present. Yeah I am and to be fair the survey's only been around for ten years so we don't have a ton of data going back but. What's interesting is that you do have a number of people. 54% of Americans think their home prices are going to rise over the next year 44%. Think there wage will go up next in the next year that's the highest in a decade I would agree with that by the way I I I think home prices will continue to increase at least sourcing for construction starts. And I think wages are gonna go what does that was the number 44% the it is 44%. Percent think that wages are going to go up I think that wages are going to. Again we've been waiting for consistent wage growth for awhile on the range that we want which is that four to 5% range. We're still seeing the F two to 3% right now but it's not fast it's it it doesn't appeal to an athlete right now we're running now in order to have two point seven. Why would the president not have a higher approval rating is based on a strong economy I think part of it is just that it's still is so. Usually know everyone everyone says although he hasn't done it yet. It's still very early in a presidency yeah okay this is the thing that you have to remember and I know that everyone wants things to get done quickly myself included I would like to see things. Get done quickly. The way that our constitution was drawn up with the founding fathers drew things up is so that things can happen to quickly. Okay just it's it's just how things are and if they want things happen quickly they wouldn't have gone through the trouble having 435. Congressmen 100 senators who actually have to debate in go through this process here so. I think that some of it. Is just because what you do have an awful lot of people that no matter what. Are going to like him and that's fine you have an awful lot of people. Who say look they're not gonna give credit to no matter what okay you have that no matter who's in office and I think that's a big part of why yes you see. The numbers kind of where they arts you know we have a very divided society right now. And I think that's just the nature of the beast is that regardless of who's in office you're going see people who don't. Give credit to that person are you bullish or bearish on the US economy text us today and it actually don't Texas go to our face our web site. Financial exchange showed that come to me three tries to get that right. Financial exchange showed dot com is where you go to participate in our poll are you bullish or bearish on the economy and again. The way to participate would be financial exchange showed dot com. Something that has me feeling a little bit bearish is home builders slowed down the pace of construction. For the third straight month in May. That's a possible sign that the shortage of houses for sale might worsen would just make cents or. Yet how hot a hot housing market lots of buyers not enough inventory. Yeah probably are gonna have shortage. Yeah and keep my we had seen for a couple months there was I believe in February and march. We saw a a shortage in permits compared to the number housing starts that we had so I think what you're seeing here. Is that obviously you have to your permits done before you can start house okay. So I think what you like a brawler down to part darn permits are down four point nine pursue permits were down but not by as much OK and so I think you're kind of seeing it equilibrium there where it's okay. You know we finally gone through some of the you know we we didn't travel permits that we needed. And I think permits are starting to lead again permits came in at one point 16 million compared to housing starts at one point 09. So. I think that you're going to continue to be kind of in this one point 121 point two million per year pace in terms of housing starts. Realistically. You probably want to see that it up to one point 51 point seven. Talk to and analysts this morning in her perspective was that. Wing you you see this add it ebbs and flows and so right now what you have going on track and a lot of completions what housing completions yup and her perspective on was. That you're gonna see a lot of permits getting pulled during the summer months with shovels in the ground September October November. And I don't know whether it's a six month ebb and flow three month have been fooled but that was her perspective she said. This isn't a sign that things are slowing down it's simply sign that you're going through the cycle that peso and I I don't know if you only time will tell. Good the long term trend if you take a look at things from for the last five years and okay. That there's nothing to suggest that there is any break in this uptrend at all okay. It's you know you're not seeing any type of rolling over in the curve you're not seeing anything that looks like its faltering. It's you do kind of have these ebbs and flows it's not a straight line. I don't put it on the stock and this if it continues all of a sudden we see things you know roll over hey we've we've got to cause for concern I don't see that right now. Well in you would think knee you know I wonder how true. The statement is that the contractors can't find workers unity and I wonder how much labor shortages are truly. Stunting the housing market what that some of and I was talking to someone about this yesterday. They can't find workers at the wages they want him you know that's that's the big thing is it was that's always the case if if if there looking for workers in the twenty to 25 dollar an hour range. There are going to be able to find you go to the other guys 35 left paying 35 bucks now or somewhere in that ballpark and then. Keep in mind that's not your all in cost when you include your insurance your unemployment insurance he got. You might end up paying fifty bucks an hour when it's all said and done well and that should reinforce the housing market in terms of pricing. It should rate because even if you're building. You know it's gonna drive your cost of foot from. 9210. Dollars per foot. Not to mention yet capable it not to mention it yet pay for the engineer district in the regulation via you know and that's that's why when you talk about new construction in new wing and stuff especially around cities and that's the big thing when your your round. Boston your round westar your round new wave it around Hartford. Spent to build it lets not only you're not just building because you have to take down rehab. And that's expensive right they if you look at a lot of the construction that's going on in your town. Regardless of where you live in New England you'll see anywhere from third to 50% of it. Is not just you know clearing a lot and and putting up the house of its taking down the other house that was there that cost you money. Yeah if that's expensive it to take out or rehabbing an old house. That's more expensive than building a brand I don't know why people do that high point of tea I did it and I've always regretted. Yeah there was always something you go into a wall and all of a sudden you say look at this game is this an Indy 50 we got to replace these Joyce and now we got a duty electrical again. I'm not gonna take three nightmare it yes if anybody whose rehab an old house knows what he's talking about. On I don't know if this applies. To all of our listeners but. It's it is said that workers on average use only 54%. Of their eligible vacation time. I believe I believe I do I remember as a younger worker. I I did you couldn't take your top eight and if you did I know people to this day. It don't take their vacation time because they feel like when they come back they're coming back to a masks and it's easier to go back to a mass. You know it's it's the cost you need a vacation after your vacation Yelp but its I find it shocking that that many people are that much time tends to be forfeited I've figured. You know maybe people left today here too out there. But what you see here is the percentage of people that actually use all their vacation time or 23%. One in four people okay. There are 10% of people that you between 76 and 99% of their time but then again you go to on the list that night. Percent of people don't use any of their vacation time that's amazing that's amazing employees in Idaho New Hampshire and Alaska. Lead the most vacation time my news. If that's because they're working in industries and in places that they feel they don't need you know. Well if if you're in a place where you feel comfortable what you're doing and you like you do maybe don't take as much. I don't know alternatively Maine Hawaii and Arizona. Top the states with the employees who are least likely to give up vacation time okay that's out the window then but the gears completely gone is it just it it's funny to see because. You know when your view when you think about if you're looking for job. And you're taking new position invariably something comes up in the conversation that is used you save yourself for you to say that a guy your interview with that the guy you're interview with. Elwood the benefits. What Tony personal days he gad Dutch vacation time yet and that changes a lot based on your employment level. It goes in it so people negotiate this or it's it's all incorporated to bear package than they never use. Gets it it it's you almost wonder look at it's not something that cost the company money because they're not they're not paying U extra it's just you're not there. And yet people don't take advantage of it and it's it's pretty much you're giving up something. That doesn't cost the company anything otherwise he might as well take. Up next will be joined by Drake Bennett from Bloomberg rift talking about western union is western union. There are strong here and I'm joined by Jake too who's a vice president at leader bank and we're talking about the housing market the housing market as you know. You know short of supply. Long on demand. And Jake for first time homebuyers. Would what is your message to a young couple hours just somebody's out there looking to purchase their first time home. Yes so you know for first time home buyers what we are telling them are a couple things one be patient. Yes you know we we see a lot of first time homebuyers who are making five and fifteen offers two for fighting house now and offers except it's extremely. Okay. And so they have to temper their expectations. Oftentimes your they're paying more than other half to. Paying more than the asking price and a minutes is quite common right now in and in some cases are actually having to to research other towns and rooted in. Considered first because. You know it's very campaign can't afford their dream home exactly. Did you were telling first time homebuyers to really be aware. Of all the mortgage products that are out there that are relevant to Tulsa but this leaders thirty yes who we are really excited about this product we just launched its cult leader thirty. We're gonna have a conversation with Drake Bennett about western union but before we do that a what you consider this. Western union processes. 31 transactions. Every second. Drake howry today welcome to the show and thanks for joining us. So how long has western union been around when did they start to it in business. 1851 and one predecessor company. The new York and Mississippi Valley printing telegraph company that was sounded and then the next couple decades that rolled up a bunch of telegraph company and pretty quickly it was basically. The dominant player in the market. Tell the story about how they missed out on the telephone business because they would have been an obvious. Player to be the first. Company and made in the telephone business. Yeah Alexander Graham Bell likely took them the patent. In. Early 1870. Offered to sell it to them and the company leadership. What an interest it they thought it was basically a novelty item they also were had to sort of competing technology they're working on. It pretty quickly became clear that that have been mistake but it's a mistake that the company basically didn't recover from it throughout the country. What do they call to eat he didn't call it a telephone at the time would it would how today it had a great build describe it to western union your. Electric speech machine yes it is it was actually kind of a talking telegraph. But yet the electric SP two machine. You are to their in this transaction business the AD the process 31 transactions per second. How do they charge for these services let's say I wanna send. 500 dollars to the Dominican Republic. How how much did they charge me to send 500 all US dollars to the Dominican. Loads very pretty widely depending on where you're sending is. How are you wanted to you know whether you're sending it to the cash over Conner how fast he wanted to get there. You know there's some of these you know you have the Dominican College there's probably there's there's a lot of competition on that too. Accord are so that either. Probably lower but some other places they did you know part of the eastern Africa there's less competition and and it's a lot higher. You know one way to think about it is that there average. Revenue per transaction is about sixteen Bach. And that that includes. That he you know doesn't defeat the use he them charging you and then there's additional. There's kind of an additional hidden fees that basically. On the currency exchange they they carry do it slightly worse. Basically. Exchange rate than than what they're getting. So they're making a little bit money on both sides of that trade. I would do what percentage of the overall money transfer market as western union command today. It's about 13%. And that's that's down a little bit over the past several years there's there's more. You know there's more competition there's there's you know people are doing a little bit more of it it digitally and on mobile no there that. There's the biggest in the industry by a longshot but a little. And down these to be. Breaking point out in your article that. The company has been involved in illegal activities in at least their services being used for illegal activities. Can you share with us the air a story about Arizona because he'd attorney general partners and it really crack down on the scope. Yeah. In the sort of hurt early. Ought to the 2000. Attorney general there and started heating western union. And also you know some of their competitors and money transfers because. It was being used by cartels and human smugglers as a way to process they exceed. And you know what he did cooperate. With that investigation there's certain points started resisting and things went to court and and eventually there was settlement. Where western union paid. He knows several tens of millions of dollars to. Two law enforcement and to. To have an external monitor the current events some of these connections. A little better. I think it it they did say that it it's a pretty small minority of the transactions that are. Problematic either you know fraudulent or criminal but. You know there they are processing it you. Pointed out 31 transaction the second so. You like you pointed out that several governments around the globe. Are now gonna start taxing it or talked about taxing the outflows. Yeah that's something bid. That come up and they came up in the last presidential campaign. Trump talked about it didn't. There actually is the bill that's been reduced by congressman from Texas. To attack remittances. It is to pay for. Along the border. And that's something that Oklahoma act parity does that. Some. Some countries in the Persian gulf that are actually big. Have really large. Immigrant yup. Sort of labor populations are are talking about it well. So far it seems to be mostly talk. But it would obviously be huge deal for not only western union but for. Bill largely immigrant and customers that they served. Who's your biggest competitor. MoneyGram. That there are fairly distant second but you know there probably about it bought by a company called. And financial which is owned by Jack Ma got Easter Alibaba and that almost certainly is in the mean that they're gonna give more money and I think a lot more and ambition. That's. That's coming up sort of or. Yeah Drake writes your time appreciate it. Thanks very much Drake Bennett from Bloomberg talking to us about western union. With the stock trading about nineteen dollars a share yes stocks rate under nineteen dollars a share right now it's pretty much been flat over the last decade overall so there hasn't really been a whole lot of movement there. It it's not a stock that. Seems to really have any momentum going in any direction. You auto at 3% Ed you've got three and a half CD there is some good income that's kicked off it. The yield it's paying out an awfully high percent of its earnings as its dividends of the yield might be a little bit. And in secure okay that dividend might not be stable in the long run but this a company that. There revenue the last four years is completely flat there right around five and a half billion every year they're not growing revenue they haven't come out with products to actually grow the company. And so while might be something that look at that was held privately could generate good cash flow off of publicly for trying to bonuses stock it's not really doing a whole lot. And bought and sold few times over the last 150 years in just couple now inching inching company news CNET editors and a business model works. How would you feel about buying a 100 year bond. That pays seven point 9%. A hundred years if I woke up early on it for ten in the cell. Eat it you could but let's figure you know you're buying you're retired you've got. You know couple million bucks in the bank and you say yeah I'm not in anything. On a bank CD and bile 100 year bond and I'll take my seven point 9%. You'll love it. On a couple million bucks with that you know 160000 bucks a year off. It does sound good until you consider the fact the bonds being used by Argentina hoops with defaulted eight times in their illustrious financial history how many times eight. So it went when we talk about that that you're talking about a country not not a state not a corporation a country. As defaulted to say well we're not pain yet they they issued their first bonds back to eighteen point four bouquets they've defaulted eight times in about 200 years so once every 25 years they tend to the full on effort that means that if I have the I think got to talk to your bond not a hundred your. Development that twelve. Hey you just say they just elect paid their bills if I guess the question is have they changed in me. It and they developed enough where they're going to be of pay their bills go forth eight Aminu is pretty good appetite for the bonds they were they were oversubscribed. For Wall Street watch a look at the market's performance so far today back to bury him jog right here on the financial exchange radio network. It is time for Wall Street Watford joined now by Mike Armstrong. Might markets. Little shaky today in particular energy down 2% YL what are we seeing so much of a sell off in energy. Yet if you really get hurt today the good news on the price of oil is relieved that you're seeing more supplies coming out of Nigeria Libya that would hurt initially anticipated and just. Further pessimism about where that press royals going as US supplies are heading up as well price of oil is down nearly 3%. Down to. Below 43 dollars a barrel. Like any concern that this continues to drag the market down and similar to what we saw back in early 26. Team when we saw oil ought take that big decline. You know I think there is a fair bit of concern yet the surviving oil companies have become a lot. Leaner and are good at making profits at a lower price per barrel blast down that forty dollars a barrel 45 dollars a barrel it is still very difficult for those companies to profit that we saw last year. The year before. When that energy sector hurts it really impacts a lot of jobs and the overall market that's that like I said this companies are meaner and they're doing better job getting oil out of the ground at a cheaper price but we are out at seven month low the price of oil. Couple new pieces out there today on Tesla what's going on with them. Yeah they are getting close to an arrangement they announced to allow manufacture of their electric cars in China assumption there would be bringing down some of the costs on they're manufacturing. And and the National Transportation Safety Board reported that a driver was killed last year your call you in the auto pilot feature. A kind of put the driver himself at fault here ignored repeated warnings to keep its hands on the wheel and and released on task well there to stop stop moving you to step slightly about 1% back. Very good Mike thank you very much for the time. Thank you Mike Armstrong were down rig count was up last week to only ticket Baker Hughes looked. Rig count last week Baker Hughes and the 933 up six rigs in the US up 509 from the year before so more than double. Canadian rig count at 159 up 27 rigs up ninety from this point last year. The international rig count is still pretty much flat from last year. And how little oil has to build with every county has got to be shifting to watch very neatly. How load as the price of oil have to go before the recount starts to decline in what kind of delay there is focused and analyze not an instant thing oh I'd be that you have you know month delay and all of a sudden in mid to late July we start seeing recounts heading back down again. Now they were known to do a trivia question for you says I get my hands on the copy for. Moe Howard the actor and comedian best known as the de facto leader of The Three Stooges was born 120 years ago this week. Will be testing your knowledge about mole and The Three Stooges. Mo Howard's wife was a cousin of which famous magician. Our text number 68681. Listener with correct answer wins a 25 dollar gas card mole Howard's wife. Was a cousin of which famous magician in Europe to be surprised how many people have the correct answer that is just days three stooges Spain's. Well their fates. Leave it that. Drove racing. I ignored it did you guys know that drove racing was the thing now whenever I had no idea but drove racing is nothing if not only I think it's a thing where you can make a 100000 bucks. Yet the the world championship begins Tuesday on ESPN I like how bad is that there are sixteen racers OK and what they do they travel around the world they fly their drones in a number of different venues having to navigate different kinds of courses so it's anything from. Opened stadiums where you just have circuits that you do. Malls we've got to navigate you know different hallways and things like that. And it's. It's rather fascinating that this is developed into a sport but in a world where people will pay to watch other people play video games I guess this is actually a step up from sort of signing year span. Think about what this really is and I know that. You know we call them drones now via the remote control helicopter speak about how much of a nerd you would have been if you were playing with a remote control helicopter. Back in the days of the regular remote control helicopter musical prowess it's big guy a little cool now I get a drone man like. So they gonna have a play by play guy oh when he's going around the turn into. Recent accidents right nobody hurt. Well you know now and my method could only thinks we're doing it it NFL stadiums. Our Ali yeah it really doesn't pay enough that's one of the locations that they do them harm NFL's they actually don't do they have people there watching like I don't know fight evil after groceries that their moms to drum home. It actually is kind of excited that he's still hot. I have you ever if you ever seen rumors. Yet I don't know if it's pro racing and I've seen in mark our town news this area. Bad on wheels up on YouTube right now the necessary in our town where on the weekends actually a lot of time you see guys out there line here. Well as batteries and and flying the drones or an old planes every step of the planes the remote Kucera. It's the same guys that used the remote control planes. Years ago have switched OK I. Give back this is actually really cool I just pulled up day of video on YouTube and what they've done is they've attached camera one of these drones. And so it's actually a first person thing like your your area and and there's all these things that's why it's. He went and I'm on board when it I just went from zero to sixty in about. Three seconds giveaway and it'll get really disciplined drones armed and shooting eight yeah honestly I would. I would hate I would page that this is much better than I thought I'd say it's pretty status to watch him because they're talented to the pilots of the program with a few guys who make good funds with guys like weaving between night. Columns and beams and stuff like that if you added in sin just you know small missiles nominee and just small missiles maybe that was gong to impala. And on and on what I want explosions. But this this is. I have. Completely turned around on this in about three seconds you can find on ESP insects probably. The Ochoa. If innate fuchsia and it's it's been narrated by cotton whatever they. All right. Quick announcement on behalf of leader bank if you live in a condominium we used to the economy added. How did you collect your Condo fees and you can't because it was a three units have been four units we had to ticket check over to the person who ran the Condo association than they would cast a few days like it does have a chat fiscal track people Condo associations are now using Z rent to collect rent so. Instead of Ural Condo where there's in and this is common rating in. In New England it's common where you might have six units in a Condo or three units and Condo two units in in in a condominium association. And it's very common where now people are using zero rent to collect those Condo fees to get music to collect rent so if you're. A a landlord in your. Collecting rent from when he your tenants I think it's. Receiving very wide. Adoption where people are collecting rent using theory but now you can use the rent to collect Condo fees so if you're a Condo the earth your manager of a Condo association and you wanna. Get out of that if your beauty got the truck drops a check off to. Use he wrecked. You can learn about easier by going to see red dot net. Or you can call them people free at 8776917900. That's cool free 877. 6917900. I just wonder if you'd think about this if you're in a Condo association. And you're walking that check over to here neighbor for the collection of Condo fees. Or if you're that guy that has to collect the kind of my gosh why would you call leader vacancy rent. 8776917900. It would all the details you don't take my word forego to Z rent dot net to learn more. Well yesterday we speculated that there could be. Bidding war breaking out for whole foods. It seems like the likelihood based on pricing and obscene today chuck is diminishing. Yet pricing yesterday we had talked during the show that whole foods is trading in the mid 43 almost 44 dollar per share range and today we're back down below 43. The price that Amazon has agreed to pay is 42 dollars. So as the price comes down well that's why we thought yesterday at 43 plus. It made sense it is just the bidders might be out there who would put an additional bit on in and drive the price up even if Amazon is able. To hold on to them with a price now below 43. It suggesting hate there there's potentially some talk that those additional bid to weakening. And Amazon might walk away with this thing at 42 dollars a share I'm thinking as I tried to determine. Who could buy whole foods. And you know Kroger can afford to buy it here they're struggling. He used to cross overs you know you're if you're a public company brokers big enough well in your your stock price is your currency that a big enough crow was only twenty billion dollar company you wanna buy a whole foods for fourteen billion you have taken a lot of debt that's not good in the grocery business used to be fifty. That it will they look to their laughter they charge they did Wal-Mart could buy them. I don't think there's good fit there. There the U Wal-Mart does not yet do and I used emphasize the word yet they don't have their act together in terms of logistics for easy just don't. They don't do the whole managing of inventory in the shipping on time and the you don't do it as well as Amazon I still maintain that. Whole foods bought. Was bought by Amazon. Simply because logistics. Yeah and I'm going through the list of who could potentially end up buying them. There's a lot out there that's attractive in terms I think Costco would be interest. Mean if costs go wanted to try to buy them that would be an interesting look pretty even even with Costco here here's the issue. Is. There's a lot of overlap. Okay because you know you you kind of targeting the same customers anyways I don't know what extra synergies you necessarily get you know that 62%. A whole foods customers are Amazon prime members. Not surprising that some not surprising there's overlap the Amazon knew that. Definitely I'm trying to like you're the big tech companies don't wanna get into retail like apple doesn't care about it and Gould doesn't care about it FaceBook in a that they have no desire to get into this business they don't know anything about it. I I think Amazon might beat I think the best fit in its. What's interesting about it from Amazon's perspective is they never do it's they never go out and buy established businesses like this whenever I turn and they bile startups and ending corporate technology and you remember the thing with the robots they bought the now on their warehouse right. But I think Dallas 500 million thirteen that they they never go out in by established businesses that consumers know about them and then turn them into something else in this. It's gonna be interesting to see how they think they can do. I mean again we we talked yesterday Jeff Bezos probably the top two operators out there along and cookies he's as good as it gets. I don't think you don't lack for resources Melamine they're going to be able throw a ton of money at the problem they're gonna have a ton of people that can deal with this I think there. And they're gonna do the market's telling you they're gonna knock it out park and they're gonna deep. Discount price and one of the things that they're gonna changes the misnomer that whole foods as whole paycheck. All of a sudden. I don't know if they change the brand or not but I will promise you. They will undercut everybody they'll have shoppers walking through. Market basket Shaw's and wegmans. Saying okay how much they charge and for milk for much of the charger for eggs Finland and even at shoppers don't have an interest of the ams on drones flying they could have girls is doing. But there it date with they're gonna do is especially if you're young mother rate in your getting discounted milk by a buck a gallon. Guess what you're gonna start on there you're gonna stick diapers rightly think about how much mother spent a day that's what Amazon can do. They will put people out of business by over discount. You know microns been around since 89 they've been around forever long time. In Buick look at. How many chips are in. Virtually every year you're posters probably twenty chips and he is just your car now. And as I cart brand new cars truck coming off line it's like 700 chips and of the electric cars have more. But if there. These vehicles are just loaded up with technology compared to. You know if you look back at how many chips soared Karmi twenty years ago might have been fifteen they are chipmakers always scare me discussed at the volatile business because all of a sudden new industries development put the other existing products out of business or the opposite way. This is the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and a today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and sharks. And many. Big gains in our stock market that have occurred during the last seven months have. Occurred because of anticipated changes in the health care law. In tax report hi everybody it's very Armstrong and trucks auto with you here on a Tuesday and we just learned that the senate. Is planning at least the Republican army the sun is planning a health care vote for next week. Going to be extinct and nothing gets through. I don't think they have enough Republicans on board to get through I'm not getting they're not getting any Democrat. Not one I'm skeptical but. Mitch McConnell is pretty skilled as a legislator Dennehy he tends to be able to. Move things when he wants to and there's there's two ways to look at this either aid that just wants to clear the decks and say look. It's not gonna past let's get this done so we can move on other things like budget and tax reform and so forth. Or matches in this same. I think I get this done. Unique week that probably is I think we don't really know what's in the bill it has been Marie who is the even the senators don't know what's in the bill now would we don't have a ton of info there it's been sent to the CBO for scoring and that's where I think we get our first sense of what's actually happening in here. But it remains to be seen we still do not have a full list of everything that is in this bill. And if it is anything similar to the bill that was passed by the house. It's disaster. No I mean there at the house bill without those terrible candidate got hit it and it doesn't do when it in the house bill all doesn't move some money around to get through the Medicaid expansion like that it doesn't. Accomplishing anything now though will seek the IA ID it that it allegedly they're gonna vote on next week which would be before the fourth of July. Yeah that's that's the goal and an and the goal in doing so is to try to allow. You know eventually the August recess the and its allies that they can get some other things done before them like a budget neo witchy you'd like to see a budget done at some point we've been on continuing resolutions for what the last three years I think now. It's pretty much is how we do things at this point but. You know getting a budget done is kind of something that you'd like to see especially you you know you have Republicans with control of the house and the senate you eastern here they do it flourish and be able to do a budget. It's not that hard. You're so much respect here's what's really taken budget done probably the deaths of 700. Senator bill and they'll be in the apple partner not invincible. The big the deficit the better you better it is for the stock market. ITF green welcomes the first flight from Europe. For Norwegian air Norwegian air really make an eagle it out of TF green airport there are. Now flying. It there they've got for it either go to four different airports are going to. Cork Shannon and Dublin and Belfast and flights to Bergen Norway. Yet Norwegian if you remember they announced the this back maybe four or five months ago I think in in the big appeal for them. Is that the play to going to be very cheap they had a number of very cheap fares. To get people over to Ireland and I think this is going to end up being a big positive for TF green okay. I think it's also going sixteen they specialize in this say hey we are going to be. The New England airport you fly out of to go to Ireland and and it's going to be a hundred bucks at 200 dollar ticket cheaper than if you want to take a similar flight analogue. Yet if if they can consistently do that it'll be impressive for them I ape I wonder if they're going to be able. To keep these bears down in the long run my since they may be a loss leader to get people interested men initially but even if they just get known is having. Convenient flights that are on time I mean Logan is notorious is being a bad airport for being on untimely just. If it's not do well especially for international flights that had all kinds of problems because terminal UB expansion there hasn't been as it's been lagging trying to get that terminal expanded. The benefit. If you're trying to fly to Ireland though not Aer Lingus goes at a terminal C in low so you don't have to go through the international terminal slowly Logan. Leaves a lot to be desired in terms of on time I'd love the CD on time percentages comparison. For TF green. To Logan Airport community at my desk and and you think about like you have might be an extra drive for me it's an extra 1520 minute drive. That you say if you could save a lot of money on parking especially if you're driving yourself to the airport the big difference. Yeah I mean it it can give you is yes some extra time there I'm pulling up the the on time indexed from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics throwing hard and let's see what we've got here oh this is inching up here we go from by origin airports it will take a look of you'll be doing and. Reports and I'll I'll I'll circle back to Donald. Tucker. Bad news my friend I heard. Drafting its merger with Angela has been challenged by the FTC that's a shark here though what time period you want me to look at variance. And I don't know what last year and when you do last year to compare all the woody and compare Bradley well did you immediately or Manchester and Boston partner. Compare those airports I'd be cures I guess. Logan's it's such. I've had so many bad experience amazes me no touchy issue that is. So you are you were all psyched up about fame tool and draft kings merging. That and I can emerge. Maybe willow yeah LLC I mean you know I don't think they should be allowed to checkpoint in this hour when the news first came out was that you know. Is this going to be a monopoly in that. Fantasy sports industry. And that's what the FTC is apparently looking so is it really fantasy sports in the public should their money's coming interest from football NFL. I don't know and like I haven't played at all since the football season you can you know what I avenue there. From the villiers same way you I used to is that why isn't baseball wise and pockets at least ask pouring in baseball's not a good grief and C sport and yeah I used to dabble here and there and even in golf but I haven't played some football which is way more entertaining when it comes to the NFL and fantasy. I this is an area where I think it's actually appropriate to not allow them to merge they I think they need to have competition. But there are literally identical companies and a I don't care that is seagate the because if they if they emerged after they're gonna have complete pricing authority and they can lower the odds and you know. Marie they they do there they want amuse their way to I guess manage that that they don't increase the pricing. Probably not a threat with that stuff I guess the rightful usual story you're allowed to get a huge but I definitely we asked if you don't do that. I please don't gouged too much yet pleases the you'd you'd better and I think when you go to an open bar Tucker yeah you don't open Barbara we'd appreciate if you had two drinks. Well that he had to travel helped her with a lot of those airport. Extra component of the the bureau of transportation statistics website is not the easiest to navigate him through that we can that we gonna continue on gavel will come back and I do wanna hear that they are probably gonna targeted dugout. UPS to add delivery surcharges. For Black Friday and Christmas orders. You know what I'm OK with this because it might increase the on time delivery I had a problem last year stuff docket delivered but my question is is this for items that are to be delivered on those specific days or is it orders placed on the news it's placed on those days and wart and if you want it delivered in a window. And Christmas is the toughest vote guy you know you're you're you're if it's December 15. Can you tell us quickly like here you really have been on your shopping in anything like getting. 48 hour he can't you just can't. You wanted to shortly as trying to ordered the men's gloves last year for Christmas yourself now for presents for family members and couldn't get a they registry. And and so really. The if you really wanna do your Christmas shopping. You wanna be Smart about it. Due in October what you keep in mind that extra point seven cents is just for ground it's gonna be 81 cents for next day in 97 cents for two or three day what's gonna be so sad my welcome what what I'm curious about though is the average cost of an order that UPS ships because if it's a hundred dollar order and it's an extra dollar. Not a big deal the retailer can absorb that they won't pass Don TU. If you're ordering you know stocking stuff for five dollars and and you're paying an extra dollar in shipping news and an eagle on. I don't know the retailers can absorb that you know that that's potentially a big loss for them because the other thing I'd like to see you need the admit I find it. Is how much is Amazon shipping as a percentage of their business how much of the shipping them. Where they're not using UPS I don't small I've they use. You just drive around and think about how many times you see one of those small white Amazon dance. Or you see the big Amazon semi trailer ever seen those they get to see those old bad all around now. I I big Amazon is doing more and more and they told us they're they've got their own jets now they have the fleet of jet. Yeah I think their lease and we'll like thirty or forty jets now continue to ramp that up I mean again Amazon wants to control everything both vertically and horizontally at this 50%. New online businesses alone in the I mean it. They that doesn't make you nervous folks. Nothing they have not made a major mistake in a while now we knew if you look at how quickly they're growing okay. In 2015 NATO 107 billion dollars in revenue last year that a 135 that's a 30% growth rate for company. That's gonna be doing probably the that includes a web services does it it does but still I'm like that's just what services is still sliver. In the broad scheme of things it's probably 15% of that you know it's just like that they're just knocking out power I wonder how long it's. And until the government gets involved and says look you guys that are too big too powerful again I own the stock but you can make case they are right now now they get it's it's easy. You know get it Amazon Web Services is only about 12% of their overall business and lot of growth though a lot of growth Claudia a lot of growth in the sector I do have some of the airport on time to go to yeah do share. I don't have for all the New England yet since building up but I got the major ones Boston. Last year was on time 77 point 03% of the time can okay. The only major airports worse than that in the country worse Chicago then okay. San Francisco. And all three of the New York airports. New JFK LaGuardia and act county Newark in there as well those you can understand me if what 2030 million people live and indeed unfair when you look at all of the other major ones that are included the only one that has any weather similar to what we get here is Minneapolis everything else like. Los Angeles there's no weather problems for water dale there's no weather problem solid city there's no way other Atlanta there's no what I like the only people that have to deal with the same whether. And comedian best known as the de facto leader of The Three Stooges was born a 120 years ago this week he's the topic of our tribute today. What was mull Howard's birth name 68680. Is our text number first listener with the correct answer wins a 25 dollar gas card. What was mole Howard's birth name and again the text number here in the studio is succeed succeed we're talking about airports and be lit whatever airport you fly out of you probably pulled the grudging. Because he feels like it's always leaked rate usually taken off the only landing enabling the airport. How does Logan Airport compared to other airports doing. So actually stacks up right in the middle of the pack I don't have data for Manchester just because I couldn't find it anywhere. But so here's what we have so in terms of on time departure percentage. Okay Logan comes in at 79 point 4%. Okay four and five. Bradley comes in 81 point 1%. And Providence comes in at 77 point. Pursuant to Logan right in the middle of the pack. There in terms of the average delay once there is actually delay. Logan's actually the shortest 360 point three minutes Bradley is the longest at 67 point eight. Providence in the middle of 62 point six that are all pretty. In general what I've found is I was going through this when you look at a lot of the airports in this area. They all tend to be pretty close together in terms statistics because largely weather based either they're flying to warm weather in New England you know that's kind of what you see what drives you crazy Salinas mechanical. I don't know I'd rather have than not fought with the mechanically unsound play in northern Iowa City we're able to better maintained place you'd think that with technology and maintain those planes Phnom I don't think you I think you're being a little harsh and critical. Get the when's the last time that a US plane with jet engines crash or dog days I mean yeah I would like them to be maintained such he didn't have mechanical delays in other words. It with all the computer to kind of unrealistic I think he's played keep in mind these are like car and I injury. You know you can't but it's not realistically this is like your car re can drop off for service during the day and it's not use these planes their own right they're always running like it's cost a hundred million dollars for new 737 and how many by. Hours they put on plea and that he had to do you know you viable business jet industry is doing really well if you look at Boeing. They're they're selling trillions of dollars worth of planes in the next twenty years so you know imagine your. You know China China is the biggest consumer China and India going to be by the most planes over the next twenty years wonder how many hours those things during the year. I know that it typically in terms of when you look at lifespan of a planet need them most common way they measured as in what they call cycles because the pressurization that's what matters how many times you've cycled through that pressurization. I don't know. Like how many cycles you can go through the average lifespan of plain and I was 2530 years. While yes that's that's how long most commercial planes are built to last typically you know somewhere in that twenty they go to the great range. Then they go the greater church some parts might be used an art you know critically might be able to read seatbelts or something like that I don't know. What if they still sell to Third World countries because that's at least to do I wouldn't be surprised me a lot of the old World War II stuff would get sold I wouldn't be surprised at all and Illinois we have talked about them a little while well since last week. I'm gonna go bankrupt and the mirror on the verge. Hitting junk bond status. We've seen. Puerto Rico go bankrupt Suze Illinois next says states can't declare bankruptcy mean I don't know if the unless congress changes the stars I don't pregnancy Republican congress change that. No but it Democrat in the did not have a Republican congress forever but keep in mind illinois' problems are likely to. Come up pretty short you know we're we're getting kinda close to the point of no return for them. And in Illinois finances as we've talked about the lot of problems that have been self inflicted there. Absolutely you know it's it's it's not a case you don't know desire to deal with that at all you don't have a declining economy and don't know you know you have a very vibrant economy especially around Chicago where you you know all of you still a ton of trade that goes on they just spend two. It's it's it's very I mean again this the kind thing it's gonna take them 25 to thirty years to they got used the model that New York used in the 70s80s and ninety's meaning you get yourself from the good shape. But it takes time it takes you know commitment to everyone taking a bit of a haircut. There are. You know every month I created guide and during the month of June we're giving away guide called the truth about annuities. And you know the they're different types of duties you have variable annuities yet immediate annuities deferred annuities index annuities. And you know if you go to a seminar chances are he's pretty good chance that the guy running the seven are gonna try to sell you an annuity. At the end of the night. Am not saying you know he's a bat and then and I think nobody should consider duties that. Again be nice if you've learned the truth about annuities which is exactly why I created this guide. If you'd like a copy of its available for the entire month of June which is not going on them much longer. The truth about annuities available to all free by calling 803934001. It's 803934001. Whenever that it's and he said he uses it all the time this it will did you know that Budweiser just bought the yeah it's if it's true Muslim will corrupts but wiser just. Did just take a mine or we're not in the company where we're not going to influence the process we we're not you know not to give any Beers bad rating is because they're taking all purpose. I mean all that'll happen New Zealand. People start of the new site it'll compete with the all the trapped on the go over there like it's the the they beat brewer I think that's a big issue for the when you look at. I tell you the the more hang around with yuppie like your generation does not drink. The way my generation my generation you know. My buddies would but racism in there and other buddies or maybe nick guys that are poor role yeah. Now. That the beer every week. Was just a much more out there I mean it's it's no different from food there's a bunch of different things you can do live cheeseburger. Now you know go out if something different. Cost is no matter. It's because of the sheer utter about it you know. We keep in mind that you know what while we may have a ton of student that we don't object is paying twenty dollars for four pack of beer and rightly evidently his accent and her head. Felt like Megyn Kelly Lee and me on Sunday. Yet it was only 3.5 million viewers for her. In your view Alex Jones on Sunday it was one point three million fewer viewers. Than sixty minutes had the same time there's so and they were playing a replay. They're gonna replay up sixty minutes is doing a replay and she couldn't compete with them. Note you can I think obviously there were a number of people probably tuned out just because of who she was interviewing there probably while Connecticut. Do narrative all yeah I'm not surprised. And they were probably a bunch of people who just you know are watching to begin with seems like she's having a little bit of trouble. Gaining a foothold that she wants to at this point that earlier on it's it's it is a guesses. Well first. Watches. Kind of it's scheduled program. Who comes with some Catholics make. If you've watched a lot of older people's older than it is the only show that you can really make case for that is sixty minutes on Sunday night a lot of people that's appointment and keep in mind with cable news people do that exactly that you know they sit down and you know they would watched bill Riley the same time every I mean would that type of format. People do tend to watch at a certain time I read he's making them. Right now believe illness it he's got that caucus he heard us as written a blog yesterday and that's that's true. It's kind of a ever it was an odd I think it's just on the Internet it's on the Internet exactly. Like they veto bills that can come back. Americans are saving more. It should be proud bullet meals are better savers that baby boomers the sect the why did you guys live through the financial crisis he watched your parents in devastated. You watched your neighbors lose their Holmes. You you saw people that you thought were really successful lose their jobs. I think you're generation got scared. I would agree with that I think that you're seeing in general. More conservative. Which is ironic I don't know if I'd go quite that far I still wanna see how this trend plays out over time no OK this might be short term thing here but what you are seeing. Overall the number of people that have savings to cover six months of expenses. Is that the 31%. Okay. Which is a big jump from the 22% the that was back in 2015 while in the numbers do you even more dramatically truck when you look young Pete in Dallas and that that would impress me. It was. You know the the fact that your generation seems to be. Behaving differently and who boomers you know what you're seeing is that actually younger people are having a higher rate of savings then. Earlier generations did the same point in their lives and so. For whatever reason again you know. I don't understand these houses are more expensive cars are more expensive I think it's because of winter I think you group is an influence are timing your life. You were eighteen years old nineteen years old twenty years old and you saw. Really bad things unity you saw your mom crying in the kitchen because their house has been foreclosed you saw your neighbor. Lose their job that the new work for a company for 25 years I mean that that cycle we went through in 2008. I'm 57 evil that was the worst cyclists are now in my life. And and we've seen this before with previous generations we know that people that grew up during the depression. They'd invest in stocks from that there are you know a lot of I just bought CD's forever because they said look I saw my parents have everything wiped out in the depression that. We we see this where you know baby boomers who came of age during the fifties when everything was going well then. There's never been a generation more in love with that the baby boomers because they say we can always borrowing get ourselves out of it well no you can't so. I completely agree that. You know what people see when there and kind of that fifteen to twenty range age wise it absolutely influenced their behavior. The rest of their life. I'm guessing joining us with a contrary opinion to that is Dan far from Hartford current again. How aria I could've talked it. Good to talk to you so everybody should just give up on Connecticut. Right just pack your bags in and moved to Florida because everything is perfect in Florida. It is perfectly. Florida's I don't know what you want. Now. What do you look at what they want and what if you want an educated workforce. Right. Well they ago. So but start with the big example that are being bandied about General Electric. And one is moving to. Low education. Low acts. Local ought. Bought it and and low education low fat low ought. New York hold I think if we do we know that it is moving to New Yorkers that's still in the back as I've seen before an official announcement have you. Not moving anywhere and that kind of over about 200 executives to someplace. Probably. New York. Because that's where mark clearly want to pay. And that tends to be the driving focus of these things I think we can when it comes to corporate relocation we can. Set aside a lot of the little about the need to be live or what culture of innovation and say that this CEO wanna wake up and go to work. During the what was what was the selling point there Rick Scott pad for Connecticut because I would two things that I pulled up in the pretty easy to look at. Connecticut is ranked seven in the country for crime Florida's 38. Connecticut has the fourth best educated workforce in the car. We got authorities to when he I I revoke. Oprah that you don't open it where it yeah. IE you're Connecticut is a low crime state. Florida's a high crime state Connecticut is a well educated workforce. And for Indians are barely literate. It is he the poverty right. Now and it is ten point 5% and Florida it is. Sixteen point 8%. Probably rate. So that's another factor. We don't put them there are people there are businesses that should be in Florida that is that are low paying. Low value added. I'd sort of operations that don't need. And educated work force but you need a lot of people. And don't particularly care whether the people show up on I'm and that's something I need a lot of of additional thing it can't read. It's been QB of all that the minute that I. I put a game let's look at cook editor manufacturing. Built stamping mental. I think businesses that used to be in Connecticut in great numbers. Yeah he's got a lot of those business in eastern Connecticut in particular. It here in the not so much anymore even in Connecticut but you'd even as late as 199899. Stanley Works split. Stamping out and is on 250. On machines in new Britain and I. And they laid off 400 people making in his. And move that worked Asia that that work that Motley left Connecticut anyway. And it and so it and it got a fighting. The last war. None of this is to say or by the connected doesn't have enormous huge. Economic problems competing with. In state that alike can edit it. What are you what are they doing about it than any idea Maggette there if I'm trying to be defending a defender of Connecticut but. Connecticut has some major structural problems public pensions and and budgets the yeah. At best that the governor has reduced the the state hit. And and we. You can say it enough and maybe get it but if they don't all. It is but more than. Any other governor as it is the state head count by we read.
