This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck. So I. When was the last time he got out of Home Depot. For less than 300 bucks you know you're doing a project around the house I don't care you're doing a little bit of home repair it would that are roofing with your maybe your you're doing some work in the bathrooms to update the bathrooms but. What 300 dollars is a bargain if we get out of Home Depot for hi everybody it's very and chuck with you here. Or early Tuesday morning and we're talking about Home Depot why would we be talking about Home Depot on Tuesday what they reported earnings this morning. And. Chuck I knew they gonna have a good quarter at least I suspected Home Depot would have a quarter. It was better than I anticipated I think it's better than a lot of analysts had thought it would be. Yet it they came out with a bang up quarter and pretty much shut everything. Was working in their favor here's the same store sales were up 8% year over year. And so that is a huge number the expectation was about five point eight. Percent and that they growth in same store sales Siri can almost stop the story right there because. We when you're evaluating. 22 types of companies it would you're talking about a restaurant stock of by the way were Bertans today we're gonna have a great show here and luncheon it's going to be fabulous. But if you're looking at restaurants or retailers right now taken by your JC Penney measure would JC Penney would do for an 8% growth a year of same store sales. Yeah they they give away everything in the store in order to get to that point. You know Home Depot we took great quarter of them which interest in though. Is the stocks actually down in trading today you and so you look at that he starts say okay if if they had such good sales for the quarter. Why is the stock now trading more positively in the answers because at least this what I think it is. I think a lot of investors look at it. In the likely believe that it is a transitory effect because of the hurricanes we have saying look. We've seen this bump in same store sales because of hurricanes that we have it's unheard third quarter two but be -- that. They expect to see those same store sales declined back into that one to 2%. Annual growth should check to check for the last couple years have been grown and high rate committee you look back Aaron it's gonna be three years anyway. When you look at their same store sales growth. Seems like quarter after quarter. Home Depot. Just continues to rally and it's surprising to me because when you look at new home construction. Numbers are not that strong especially individual house's. But when you look at Home Depot they come in I think we're home Depot's pick an awful lot of work is on renovations I think people are saying. Now we're retired or were retiring but we're not gonna retire for America sell the house are gonna update stay I hear more and more that from my clients over it. There's no doubt that's happening in whether it's someone. Who simply don't starter moments as they organ out on a couple bedroom whether it's someone. Who is in a second home and says hey look we need to adding an in law apartment because mom and data coming back to live with us in those situations that you absolutely see happening now and so. There's no doubt that when you look at the retail environment. I think home depots in about a staple of the places you can beat. Within the retail sector well let me ask you though the because Saturday I was talking to a fellow that works for a large. Electrical contracting the supply company yup and in a year big sponsor of the Red Sox are not gonna mention their name. I'll mention irony that named to the audiences whose hero this Bertans grow later it. In this electronics retailer. Told me in is a guy at work and on the he he's he's not principled company he works at the company he said there and killed. By Amazon Amazon is eating into their business or on high margin products so little happens let's say your edit jobs. And you're doing a home renovation and you need lighting fixtures while if you're buying. You know Kohler fixtures for the house. Do you really care when you buy them locally with the by the money and there's been affected my preferred by the money Amazon because you concede Amazon. I want those delivered a week from Thursday because that's what I know the plumbers going to be here. To do the installation. So what I'm with what I'm. Questioning is. Is. Hold people perhaps more vulnerable. To the Amazon effect then we might think is the parking lots are full there are a Saturday morning and wonderful. So there's no doubt that they are vulnerable to the contractor going out and saying OK I know what I need night and I know that I can get more cheaply from Amazon. The average person who's doing their own work around their homes or maybe they're doing their own yard or maybe an important in you know a new bathroom because they wanna save little money into it themselves the person who's doing that work themselves. Doesn't necessarily know exactly what they need and so a lot of times they need to go into that Home Depot store and feel the property to see it because they say okay. I think this is a three ace of an inch pipe it may be half inch or may you know and those are the things that if you're just trying to figure it out online. Look if you're doing it yourself you order the wrong pipe and almost and he got a delay your bathroom by a week you sit there saying. Jew my wife's not happy with me my kids are paying a kick it in there like all trying to do was shout or and so. I think for the contractors it's easier to make that jump online because they say look I know what I need for the job and if Amazon gives me the best price. Great for the individual myself included in accounts they're saying GO wanna install some shelves in my closet. I'm not going online saying okay no exact do any I gotta go look around and say okay this is what I'm trying to do here's here are my options in and I can figure it out once a man. But to say though I I've got an experience that's conquered that. I needed a new generator. For my house and eight people did generator on Amazon I'd bought a 3000 dollar generator fifteen KW on him is on its general act. And it they delivered. Immunity in this thing weighed 426 pounds you bought it generator on and as I've bought 3000 dollar generator on Amazon is single power half a New England. If they make it in and that's an example. Of it was more convenient because if I was gonna buy it locally right back to go pick the darn thing up. They delivered to my horse so in in for certain things like that again you knew what you needed yes I did. United and I'd done my marker market research but I think that's that that's a hi end item. Bet it'll could've been sold in one of those stores I find myself in right after the last I take two or three years I find myself. And I still go to Lowe's on Saturday morning TV didn't give people think I work it will. There's a lot. But I I just find myself in a BF two state chuck and I'll say do you wanna do this project around the house right in now that your homeowner you know every noted. It here is always something new deal and here there's always some project. I find myself on Tuesday thinking about the Saturday project in tall order invariably you'll look at my worry history. In all all beat behind some of the stuff that I need on Amazon. And that's that's where I'm wondering. You know the big. You know stocks down a dollar 32 today on outstanding numbers I don't know I just I I think. There there might be Mort that story in rule we'll have to keep an island. The question where poll question today is are you planning a home improvement project. In the year. When he team I'm gonna raise my hand it is I'm seems like I act if you asked me if I was planning one in January the answered yes February yes Marc is like every month what do you consider home improvement project well recently I read finished our basement. Right they open a beast it was a mess. I took down some old walls and and that the Dow's big projects like what if what republic taken down now Alex and shrugs like digging a budget stuff that's I don't consider that only can get credit for Coca credit. I mean you shouldn't have to do laundry or vacuum. Who says I do well I'd just be that those are the rules if you do home improvement projects to make dinner. Roark capital offering to abide buffalo wild leagues I'm not sure I would buy a Buffalo Wild Wings. Under any circumstance EU bid you good to them probably more often than yeah I. We haven't been to one and a couple of years at this point the Buffalo Wild Wings if not familiar with than they are a chain of sports bars effectively. And Buffalo Wild Wings the stock has had a rough year leading up to this point ticker on them as being WW. Lay up today. Yet their upbeat today on the news there is a buyout offers they're about 25%. On the news here. But it's it's a company. You know really has has struggled over the course of this year one point. It was as high as a 175 dollars share this takeover offers for 150 this year and so you know. First of all your shareholder do you simply you know say okay we're gonna get this 25% puppet not get back to where we were previously seen but this is a company. That I think has just been hit hard by some of the changing consumer tastes. That people have right now overall year to date. Their sales are pretty much black compared to where they were a year ago well a store sales growth. Doubtful and that's what we're just talking about yeah Home Depot or eat at Home Depot crushing it very same store sales up 8% yup Buffalo Wild Wings. It would be if they're there at lucky there. Yep they're there overall revenue was flat for the year that at its stores to get there yet she that's why wouldn't buy it. No it's it it's a company that I don't think he's been able to adapt. To what is going on in the in the changing landscape for restaurants they haven't been able to figure out how to get people there on a repeated basis and there's a lot more competition in that space to. Okay. You talk about some new chains that have popped up recently up the New England area you probably seal these Jake and Joes that have popped up their their direct competitor to them and their lot better than them quite frankly. And so I think Buffalo Wild Wings you know has some questions about the quality of their product going forward. CEO stepping down yes it's it next year if it's not a company that I would want to own them. I I was surprised when I saw the takeover. Offer and I was very surprise witness on the price of that coming up. Coming up we're going to be talking about tax reform is the president threw some curve balls and tax reform yesterday. He's demanding. That the individual mandate be repealed as it relates to health insurance now that's good from taxpayers standpoint but boy it's gonna cause health insurance premiums to skyrocket. We'll talk to. Patrick fouls from the economist about the status of tax reform. Is it gonna get done when is it getting it done and darn it what's gonna look like that is next from the financial exchange. For their eight New England locations once again we are broadcasting from their location in Burlington Massachusetts today. Right here on the financial exchange Patrick valves from the economist at joins us now on the line here to talk about. Businesses are looking at tax reform and Patrick thank you coming on us. Yeah. Patrick can you talk about the reaction overall that we've seen from businesses. To some of the ideas that have been bandied about. For tax reform here's ball. For the think they're really quite fine I mean from politically the Republican popular. Desperate that to try and off to war. In the next. You week in law that it get a big legend but the accomplishment of the rebel movement and next year. I'm meanwhile in the business world expectation that he's very sorry about that a is that friendly acts of war. Package and so more than normal in expectation the what. I want to read there's that problem we've got proposals from buy it but it and it alone dictate who will be beat these businesses it UPS because. What's that's preparing. Which is principally that the satellite tax rate rules. But that would hole. He's not when polls people like that we've moved some production but the wind has been visas and it's extremely cold but they didn't you might expect which mean that some people. Or more on the principal concern of that I think investors and the company knows just the election well. And let's talk about some of the the potential losers in this tax reform deal one of the most outspoken groups are really two of the most outspoken groups to this point. Have been home builders and real estate agents and that's largely due to the changes happening on the deductibility of mortgage interest as well as on property taxes and you know each week there's a ton of arguments for and against but in general. You know most people seem to say look you know we shouldn't be subsidizing these industries for no reason how what are these businesses trying to do to react. Well you did at the map that Moby. A random. I think debt and Horry in in the US and at that encompasses the bill would be mentioned in symbols of banks and mortgage businesses but the reality is that mortgage interest subsidy. Is paid out by their government and most of its option but very wealthy people state. There's really not a very strong all of human but it is is it tends to benefit the rich and the subsidy. The borrowed money to prosecute it but not truly if you run into him building company or. A bank but the multiple reasons you do pretty differently book about the countries that have. Did Dick Dick Pebble Beach and about the lesbian and abolished but the thing that America let alone for Opel but he recently. Abolished it. Mortgage interest deductibility in the world the people who well. What about the other changes that are potentially happening to small businesses one of the proposed changes in the house bill. Is to cap the rate that pass through businesses such as partnerships and LCs would end up paying at 25%. But it also includes error rather it excludes a number of types of businesses. From being able to be capped there. Yes and and you know about that the complex he beat these things the patent will will employ at the negotiations in the patents and there'll. Mean it's sort treasury sector treatment action. Speak again of what we've been in use your community he was passionate about the reforms being deployed to help small businesses but Nazi point and it's. The overall multiple. Adoption that will be reviewed it were trying to raise revenues. If you look at that particular thing you're talking about the posterior against one of these things where where it used audible small businesses. This with the corporate structure. Who have the benefit of Russian caption court very wealthy people instruction. The business but using thing. What the moment pops. Pop stool sic the policies actually controversial. Because animals have the benefit that that the belt that the tax reductions being the parties who will be such. By the rich. What are the other questions that I have with regards this Patrick is. Tax reform has been pitched as an incentive or as a way to simplify the tax system we've all seen the idea that we can simply file a postcard. And get our tax reform done if you start getting into things where hey if you're in one industry can take this break if you're in another you can't. Doesn't that just add more complexity of the situation actually. Yes I happening yet and there would be unfortunate thing about me text or number around the world it means you spoke with something which is the chemical equipment at the end of the political. Negotiation it a little more complicated. I would say that I have a unit that that the corporate stroke and one strong element of them is removing. The present at the US as a trying to Alex companies. Lately the unit that he something in Shanghai. The American public it is there's been launcher. That has introduced enormous complexity. Is the system that does what the nature called me uses a body up in weight but not like keeping the system businesses will be of the portable. What are the other things that we see as a result of the way our corporate tax structures currently set up. Is that a lot of companies that do business in the US might not actually pay that headline 35% rate in some cases they may pay next to nothing. The way that the current structure is set up so. Are any of those companies that right now having low effective rate in the US coming out against tax reform because they wanna keep you know there's there's 0% greater something like that. What yet comedic if music picked you because US is that they roll and just pick me cooperate. That'd be back equipment. Substantially patent government is rightly. About twenty point and to have that for the sake America American companies complain about like deployed but they all Wednesday. Amazingly good at supporting things like that Lloyd that's right. There really be expected out USC ink is from about twenty point the Clinton. Rent 20%. Now all the Steven Ross some companies the book went Silicon Valley a mock salute attack straight up straight is between 1520%. That relate to its foreign business. If it's the I'm not been wet. The rules being changed in Detroit or Oakland the it's cool to figure out on the over the ball. They've I think you're right the resist spread that company and he. Fire lit extra weight rule lament to know what is actually say that that line that he bought the one parting thoughts were that the actual content that would like they. Target Patrick thank you very much of the time today. It took it out at that is Patrick fouls from the economist talk about tax reform. Now I don't know we have for any editor or not we'll see. Oil is trading down 57 cents per barrel. At 56 dollars and nineteen cents we reported yesterday on OPEC OPEC is making concerted effort. To raise the price of oil specially Saudi Arabia because they're going public next year. Time now for mostly watch a look at the market's performance so far today thanks to Barry and jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. Joining us now on the lot for Wall Street watches Mike Armstrong and Mike let's start first the big news from Buffalo Wild Wings today receiving a buyout all. That's correct so I've worked capital private equity firms guys putting in a buyout offer for Patrick fifty dollars a share of the stock is up right now nearly 25% to or close 29 dollars on the news. Bio operative wants it to its tree about 146 right now so obviously a little bit of doubt that it's gonna go to route here. Yet the dead. Little bit doubt that is currently that this deal is that back in May yet this year there are trading well over a 150 dollars this year and it really had a pretty tough second half this year or so. Is a little bit doubt as to whether or not buffalo wings will approve the deal but nonetheless docket epic in in the market today. Up to about 25% on the news. Advance Auto Parts is up nearly 20% today after previously being down about 50% year to date what's with the big turnaround. Yes so it means they had just won pretty decent quarter as well call it they they earned a dollar 43 cents a share which is a turn around eating out that's the dollar 21 cents a share where I need to dig into the numbers will be a more than actually missed their revenue as well as their consort store sales so usually we get has accompanied missing revenue and stale like that it's a pretty big deal but I think just. The number back quarters in Advance Auto Parts is I had this debate of the turnaround for the and then like you said stock is now up. 20%. Up to close to 99 dollars share. But Dick's sporting good to see they're down about 4% today that they continue to slide this is a stock that at the beginning of the year. Was priced at 54 dollars a share today it's 25. What's going on there. You know of all the retailers sporting goods is once after that I am just very very concerned about there the potential longevity. You scenes in bankruptcy scenario radio the last few years and it just concerns me that. If sporting good section had a pretty decent quarter they beat on earning it beyond resonated beyond comp sales. And actually for 282017. Again it's pretty bad bets were 2018 there's commentary. About their earnings forecast which could be down as much as 20% and as the real of these figures released or casting a pretty gave Greg earnings declined 2018 which. Shareholders do not like stock is down an additional dollar and eleven cents per share or about 4%. Very good thank you for the time like I. Mike Armstrong with Wall Street watched a tape decks code back that I at a shopping experience there in the fall was very unfavorable would do. What did I was in Connecticut I went to one in Waterford Connecticut there's nobody work in there. If you don't find any one in stores it if you want help any issues or something you'd forget these these these very little in the way you customer assistance if you. Their supplies their stock was was minimal. And then what I did ally. They priced improperly when I was trying to check out the idea you know at this price on the shelf was different than what they're trying to charge mentally yup dork so it took a long time to get out and then that you know those little anti theft tags. If they put on the knuckles they forgot to take one off. A pair pants that they forget it you walk out with that I'd paid such a darn thing that I tell it it. But here's the problem. We went away and I had the pants and I opened up an electorate but the pants on the at the dart tag on right. Well I don't know if you know this can you go through airport security with wanted to note that the flag for that too we know between you break that tag. It ruins the pants. Oh does it oh yeah what we ought to hold it yourself that I took a hammer to it to try to get off. And all the sudden this ink sprees all of this so it does look like this old pants I did not have received a patent it but that the clerk check it out never paid. Is that they might might spirit politics of the group tactics they AB just got broken up but of course they're kind of the last man standing in terms of sports authorities gone. Now hotels gong. Who will sort out there Amazon. In his about it that that's the always the easy answer. Oil pressure recovery International Energy Agency is suggesting that oil demand growth it will continue. But they had bought OPEC is saying well growth is gonna increase it in all a 1000005 to two million barrels per day. Would be a lot right now what are we consume about a hundred million barrels of them under about 95 I think it pulled the numbers so. You know were in that 95200 million barrels a day. And OPEC is looking NC in 96 million right there and OPEC wants like two million barrel Tuesday increase in demand I don't think they're gonna get IE is coming out saying. They yearling and see one week three million barrels. Increase in terms of demanding your but it does seem to be. These anti austerity. Thing going on in manufacturing is picking up it seems like you've got a lot of construction got global. You've got some good growth going on which interest exited the biggest growth engine for oil demand right now is China okay. China uses about twelve twelve and a half million barrels day of oil. The US still is though that the largest what we want world we're just cite one okay. But China as you know is starting to make it bigger push towards electric and fuel efficient vehicles because they got so much smog over the note. Brees and it's not just there in a go to a unit cities in South America right you go to India. Go to Pakistan I mean they're people leave the citizens in those cities are dying. Dude air pulled its its APC can't be any more succinct and they're there they're people they're killing there'll be. And and you look at oil demand historically in the US now is pretty much leveled off over the last five years now OK we've been pretty much the same level. Since 20102011. Somewhere in that ballpark. Asia okay. In that same time period has seen their demand growth by about ten million barrels debt. OK see you just have this huge ramp up it's going oh going on over in Asia at this point. China's been the largest recent cut in turn has been at the driving force there so if China all of a sudden says look we want more electric vehicles on the road. All of a sudden that oil growth grinds to a halt. What they're 10% next year and be done if you if your General Motors in you wanna sell cars in China or your bowl pool if you're Tesla. Anybody who wants to sell cars in China 10% of them have to be electric that's a big change. You're the expert on oh Italy's thousand barrels of oil day. It was there are no more British virgin mobile's pro about 500 now it's if it's we'll actually be more now as a whole island running on generators. Mr. the the true what happened in the British for it all over. So they're devastated. Beat the patriots play it's sports authority field in Denver on Friday the proper still haven't found a new sponsor to David bankrupt company that's no longer in business sponsoring. The Denver Broncos home. Field. That says something right there he. Story out of auto belong Errol many fewer big auto guys today I've. I love automobiles and I'm fascinated by electric cars. And you know many car and does not seem world. Caleb automobiles will be fascinated by electric cars and Dell today there's a lot of us that right. All the all the young man here all the Dartmouth engineers went to school with their electric cars they it and I don't hang out and anymore engineers love electric cars anyway. By my point is this. The battery. Use the you know the political cost when your building these electric production out here with your Tesla. Or whether you're General Motors batteries are very some of these these the same batteries that are sitting in our laptop computers save battery. That's sitting in this. At this this fold that a hole. The batteries in cars are the same as senior computer that's where Elon Musk got the idea he put together he beat. Glued together a budget. Computer batteries due to make the first tussle. And the challenge with them is they're heavy. And they take hours and hours to fully charge and and that's it that's a problem that and I think that's gonna hold back. Electric car production. This error and Toyota have filed patent struck first solid state batteries this is a game changing technology. This is beyond the future if there able to get it to work Toyota file these back Ian. August as they announced that they were around making some progress on these batteries whiskers wealth mr. makes only electric vehicles the moment but both of these companies mr. and Toyota saying. Look we think that we can have solid state lithium air batteries within the next five to six years and this is a huge game changer. On two counts really three counts the first is the amount of energy at these batteries to hold the okay significantly more dense as far as their ability to hold energy the second. Is because the more dense you don't need to have the same weight of batters he can drop the weight of the car which makes the car even more efficient there the third piece. In this might be one of the most important pieces out there charging times you know when okay. Charging time to recharge he's in minutes instead of its not to take four hours or six hours ten hours to recharge Buick filled up tank gas to Poland. Put the thing in in a minute or two later. Boom you're ready to go so this is the kind of technology where we'll guy I rag on electric cars because I think they're golf carts for the most part largely they are. He's never driven a thousand mile I'd I drove my that's Prius V6 months and I Haiti rise of three so I have an electric car pure that doesn't count because. It's not pure electric it was drive the real world like little bicycle that we issue isn't like because it was a fashion it was I failures ride around I don't nice electric car for a thousand miles you'll never go back to internal combustion. I've orders idol. OK okay. But this this is the kind of thing where if you get the battery technology there now. All of a sudden five year old mild language right you said they're saying look you've got more range than gas you've got the same charging times gas and you it's cheaper to run again. If it's cheaper to maintain remember electric cars you chose the oil or anything they do any of that. Is that there's 25 or thirty moving parts and electric car Yemeni and moving parts there are in an internal combustion car 700. 700 moving parts and that was good I will give them credit for that simple is good and in the Toyota. Want one of the things holding them back to the apparent lack of. An electric car lineup the they have really competed in that market in the near the first one took a hybrid so they sultan. They've sold millions of races but they have not had a pure electric. And I think what they're doing is waiting. It and I think they're wise to do so frankly. Is waiting until there were advancements is a battery battery tech there now we're talking about it today if that patents filed in 27 team. Earliest that you CDs on the road will be 20/20 22022. A long ways off the. The this is still an upstart five years away if it's in it's still. Very much in emerging technology but the two companies that have filed those patents whisker who went bankrupt and Toyota. C Toyota's elected waiting for Toyota. Toyota is the equivalent of General Motors. In my Korea you look at the number of vehicles sold its Toyota General Motors and Volkswagen. And they are all pretty close a General Motors is probably pulled back a little bit because they sold loss of the European divisions but those are the Big Three. In terms of automobile production and Volkswagen and those working on new technologies while. Are coming up. We will be joined by Kevin cook from Zacks will be talking about two stocks Nvidia. And bite you now be careful I'm not sure whether he is long or short the stocks and noble by him before he comes on the year and tells you what he thinks of them. Kevin Cox. Hi everybody it's very Armstrong and. Potluck ski from the law firm Cushing in dole and we're talking today. About estate and asset protection strategies. That can help reduce or eliminate your estate taxes. Tut is it true that a merit couple living in new wing and with two million dollars and assets pays a voluntary. Gift tax. A 100000. Dollars in the government they don't have trusts in place I'd certainly can't be certainly depends on what state and to be you know I'll let assailant if if you if you have assets and you can't each state has their own exemption. And you know like the federal exemption amount is 5490000. Dollars. You can pass that amount. And state tax free to anybody you want. In any state. But a lot of people say oh we have that kind of you know but. What you forget about is the states. A state tax system they have their own system. And each state has their own exemption. Which can range from you know a million dollars to 201000005. Is around here 2.5 million you know and then some states don't have any. State tax the only one in New England doesn't have one news New Hampshire that's correct New Hampshire the only one in the in New England that doesn't have a separate state the state tax. And so the goal is by doing basic estate planning and using trusts you can double whatever that's been exemption amount is. Thereby hopefully eliminating. Voluntary estate taxes. Up to whatever that exemption amount is double. Request your copy of Todd brand new guide it's called reducing and eliminating the state taxes. Kevin let's start first with Nvidia this is probably be in the arguably the hottest stock over the last year and probably one of the most talked about. Is they're still room to run here we to happen now. Yeah you know that's exactly all the time hey I hear Nvidia is the future of artificial intelligence and all these technologies connect still by the 200 bucks. When it straighten it over fifty times forward earnings. And I say I believe that you can't because he is the future. No there at a conference right now in Denver public supercomputing conference. And they just announced yesterday it now that every major computer maker and every major cloud service provider is the customer. Buying the Nvidia architecture. Or these advanced technologies you know hike computing technologies. You know everything from the game means the big bad. What financial technology hyper scale data that are scientific and medical research and autonomous car. He hears what makes me nervous Kevin is. I don't know anything about computer chips and I know that you know Intel was the dominant player you know through the 1990s now on the PC side they still are. But I don't know if there's someone out there who could potentially support Nvidia is there any competition that we should be worried about. Yeah you should be worried about Intel because Intel quietly. You know getting their forces together so to speak and because they don't wanna let. Nvidia rule this market by themselves which they do now though Intel has recently. Sort of he yielded. It burned bridges with AMD. Who makes who is the number two player in these GPU graphic processing unit chipped. And so in Intel get ready to take on Nvidia in the space though. Well right now of the revenue growth potential for Nvidia is just incredible they eat they continue to be raised and that's why that. The price can go up but the PE multiple can come down. There are estimates that in just in the cloud area they're gonna grow that business as if either 70%. A year so in four years you're talking about going from. They made 800 million in the business last year they're gonna lose seven billion in revenues just in the cloud dead that are supercomputing that are. Let's turn over notes to read Baidu this is a company that you know I've people you know when it IPO back in. What was it 06 or seven it was it was the hot stock at the time the last couple years. Flatten out a little bit but short a little bit more gross here what do you think is the story with them don't follow. So I recently bought by view on this pull back after earnings where they had it sort of warn about the war or fourth quarter was going to be a little softer. But here's the thing I do is build the Google China and what I mean by that is they still had 80% of the search market and that doesn't seem to change nobody can come in. In the plant. What Baidu does in Internet search just like nobody can you know. Kick Google out of the way. The other the other thing that makes in the global tidy is that they are going into these advanced technologies like artificial intelligence. Autonomous cars and they're using the Nvidia platform so I was really the application. Of what Nvidia makes. And Baidu in the Silicon Valley. Artificial Intelligence Lab where they're where they're trying to apply all these advanced technologies that they can be. You know that they've got a captive market right they own the Chinese market. With search and then they can deliver all these advanced technologies. At a company like by that we only have about thirty seconds is only the quick answer I guess her you know Google right now it's a 700 billion dollar behemoth Baidu only 83 billion dollars. How much bigger can they get. Yet they're not gonna become that big. And that's because there he is. There is competition in these other areas. They retail like an Alibaba. And and that's and that of these people with a big beaten them in China right now Baidu has room to grow 50% but not 400 per. Outstanding Kevin thank you very much of the time except. Kevin Kirk from Zacks talk met in video with a ticker and the DNA and I do with the ticker B do you. You know isn't gonna bring up General Electric today show's open could pass on them but they're down another five point 3% or a dollar to in trading under. Eighteen dollars a share. I bring it up because 94 million shares of Ortiz traded hands on an average day folks. GE trade about sixty million and it's only 10:56 in the morning. GE going through a lot of turmoil where's the bottom of that stock. I don't know might be trying to catch a falling sort. Thank you tuning into this hour of the financial exchange it's very chuck broadcasting from Bertans bar and grill in Burlington Massachusetts. Company and disruptive technology company does disruptive. Logistics company and we all have seen the effect of what Amazon does it just look at your retail sector just look at. The sports authority were talking about earlier circuit city's to be an electronics stores Amazon effectively put out of business member Barnes & Noble. I guess they're still around but not in the same capacity how everybody it's very and chuck with you here we're opening this hour to show with a conversation of Amazon and by the way they're stocks trading at about 11351135. Dollars. A share I don't know I measure say the stock eat it in try to anticipate what it's worth very difficult but. What I eat in acknowledging about Amazon he's just keep come APV they hear or just. Every day I've tried to do shows where we don't talk about him is on its darn near possible. There dominance of the retail industry and what they are doing to it in terms of reshaping that industry completely it's similar to what you saw with when Microsoft's change the game computers back on the eighties you know Microsoft effectively. Took the computer industry from being big mainframes and said look we think of which have computer and our systems the way that every one's gonna run it. And you know Microsoft you look what they did in that sector. Wings gone Digital's gone all the like all those companies that were big behemoths disappear because the Amazon's doing the exact same thing in in retail. What they're doing it to retail but it now they're also doing it in video. And you know it is on I don't know how many different series they produce I don't think it's a lost I think there are probably a couple not just on to this point bigger behind Netflix by a long shot to. They're spending. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're spending about a billion dollars a year or Netflix is spending seven billion yeah it's it's a fraction of the the spending that Netflix is doing but they have some shows that are well watched in the manic high casts really good elected. Did you know like now and in the end and bosh is the other one. That I know. And it. The those those are two shows and better on Amazon they're only on in this NC can't get a money and BC can't get a month CBS U can't get him on HBO. Man in the high castle in Bausch. Now what they're gonna do bill which I think is ingenious. They're gonna make them available for free if an order to watch Amazon prime video today. You have to be a a member you're you have to pay that 99 dollars a year or be a member in the you can watch all they're pretty alive person if you like documentaries they have a fantastic documentary library. This now what they're doing users and okay. Well if you don't want pays a hundred bucks a year that's okay beer watch some commercials and you actually watch a few commercials now this on prime video. You do win and it's an interesting option for people who you know might not wanna pay to get him in that ecosystem there because John booty showed darn cheap. He he will pay extra hundred bucks a year he here's where I think Amazon is going. When this is all said and on have you used on Amazon prime video on an iPad or something along those lines on my phone yeah. Have you noticed that you have the ability don't know if you've tried this but if you click on the street he'd just yet you'll tap on the screen. You get some notes that come up on the left side to talk about the movie talk about the characters and so forth. Where I think this is going to be going eventually is all of a sudden you tap on the screen in its aid based on the scene that you're in here's a recommendation for you should buy on him a step back. Book you laugh but this is legal act these marketing today we Grail B the thing that bothers me I think you might be right that this this is you have the entertainment. And then you have the ability to buy two wrecked from the merchant all in one place in theories. No friction between what you want in you can get and that's where Amazon is going and that's that's why I think in the long run. This move away from hey you have to pay for us into sports advertising supported platform. It is where Amazon wants to go because all of a sudden and you're already in that ecosystem. They don't have to say hey go to your local store and buy paper towels that's you get that for paper towels because they know you bought them. Four months ago and you need to buy them again and they are happy to have the shop on Amazon with your prime member not over yet that it that he there it they're gonna make more and they provide more money. If you're not. No they as they picked up the prime ones do it and did it pay for shipping if you're not a project you put so what's what's interesting when you become a prime member. The amount that you tend to spend on Amazon more than doubles on average if you forget that 5% off critic article about it and it's too dangerous. Because I I don't wanna be using Amazon watch. It's it's too dangerous like yes it's 5% off but the way I like to think it still 95% on. Okay. Then he got to shop somewhere. Hey I want to talk about the NFL if Arab and that your. It with its viewership down your 1015 up that 10% after 12% last year so Euro per year you look at the two years here. And viewership the NFL's down about 20%. You know day I was thinking about this last night. Who's I was watching NFL network that is fantastic product if you watch it doesn't work the the not just at the network but all of the actual networks that are run by the league whether it's NFL network and LP networker NB ATV. All three of those are phenomenal much better than me in my questions. How do you watch NFL network because you cut the court my package still has and a full network I like sixty channels and scream all alone on PlayStation view. Okay so 35 bucks month sixty channels and no fat. ET NFL network is a relatively new product rate what three or four years old once that twelfth now is that I think it's 2005. Quality about 2003. In FL network I suspect as part of the reason he has pianist or. Yeah I mean look it's a better product okay much better. You know you go on their and you actually get highlights you actually get analysis where's he colonias pinning you get to Talking Heads yelling you about you know what someone warden Leo. Breakfast and the last mortenson and don't I don't care about frost X out here for. But as part of this. You know the NFL owners right now or in the midst of this battle to try to figure out they want to keep Roger Goodell on ads. The commission like that they wanna cue from what I hear. They want to keep them on maybe Jerry Jones doesn't. Even Bob Kraft seems to be negotiating this bit part of this deal would pay its fifty. Listen to whispered it. Roger Goodell it talk about paying him fifteen million dollars a year. Free health insurance for his family for life and use of a private jet I mean like what does this guy duty cure cancer. Get someone better for fifty million a year I told Jackie I would do it for paltry 39. Well yes but you'll do for thirty I mean it's still do it for 38. What I'm trying to fathom. Is I don't know what he's done for that leak well apparently a good public. The what I hear Tucker is that a lot of this TV. Stuff in the NFL network in the TV contracts. The reason he's making this kind of money is he was integral. In negotiating these contracts that's craft you do do. Eliot good relationship CBS anyway it that that's the packet in the infidelity and update 850. Fifty billion a year private jet health insurance for your family for a I mean I don't know maybe it just. They. Call me thrifty New England Yankee but it. I I that he's had access. To be fair at least you know Goodell is so we started in the mail room at the NFL yeah like he he's not someone who came in and just you know did this and that's it. You know he he worked his way up I just I don't know if he's the best person for that Ike CF into the top three million dollars you tell me you can't find someone better for fifty million dollars. I'm with you like we're not talking about oh will we might give view you know 100000 dollars and ten dollars per Diem in lake. I don't think it helps the image of the league. The you know or who is suffering. From an image issue. In and all of a sudden you're hey this guy fifty million bucks a year commissioner and the players. Eighties a lap and I think that's why dealers like someone is because he's taken part on against the players after members it is very much in management or some point and for better for worse this. It's always interest in pro sports. It every other situation most people tend to side with the employees. How many times do you hear people siding with players on issues like it's it's very like the NFL has done a phenomenal job of getting people to side with billionaires and millionaires it's in the the wooded work stoppages. They might happen on this. They might have won once the CPAs up carrier's three warriors. Eight it could happen here. Now a tie the if their ratings continued decline. In Italy there it got to ratings problem like. People's totally Downey percent Europe rears yet you lost twelve last like you're down 20%. Which he attributed to. The products bad and all the political off. Like that's that's what it is you know it's it's police say the product that has gains is still played the same crappy teams like the games a lot more competitive publisher patriots. For the first time the Food and Drug Administration. Has approved eight digital bill. It's a medication embedded with the sensor that can tell doctors whether and win patients take their medicine. Everybody it's very chuck and we're joined by hand. Bella for the New York Times who wrote this article she wrote that first paragraph which is enough to join us today on the financial exchange I am RU. It so I'm trying to imagine what the heck is on this Bill Clinton taking the device quality computer chip. Well he'd be swallowing. Eighty. Ship that is made. Copper or magnesium and to a conference. Which which may sound kind of artificial but it's actually beater components that we find in. You know many many fruits and vegetables and so. So it's safe. Yeah okay so it's not until the pill bit the it. That it appeared not to care are so the FDA approves this what's what's the thought process why we in. I I. From what I've my conversations with people the medical professions. Then it's important that you finisher prescription. You know you'll you'll take your prescription drug. And it may be fourteen days and nobody ever finishes the fourteen days that you're start feeling better on day eleven and they don't finish the prescription is that the thought process behind us. Part of that he yes so if so this idea. It's it's actually huge problem that it. The world of medicine has been trying to deal with her decade and a variety of different ways and not very successfully. Which is. That a lot of people probably as many as half. Patients. Just don't take their medicine has described they do exactly what you're talking about they don't finish their goes. Or are they don't like this side effects so they don't take it or they didn't forget you know. And that hand I have to really serious health consequences if they're taking something that. You know listed is to trying to regulated very serious condition Monica chronic heart condition or something like that. We can end up in the hospital they can't patent surgery and he can also be very very expensive for the health system so this is a problem that people have been trying to address them lots of ways with little reminders with little. Kind of. You know alarm clocks this but it radical bill capsules. Likely Obama has won you know take this drug at this time in Baghdad helps or. All broke the ham isn't a big problem. We as relates to taking your medications. For people with mental illness because that's where the heat yet. The the side effects if you will of of these drugs say this some people look at it as being worse than than the mental illness itself. Yes and some of these drugs do have very very unpleasant side effects you know do. So it can really interest being. Application that this first pill that's been approved in there will be others in the world. You know apply to other medications but it was really kind of interesting is that the first one. Is being anti psychotic who built by. Yeah which is you know. Prescribed for people with schizophrenia. And bipolar disorder and sort of as an add on for people with major depressive disorder. So. These are populations particularly people with schizophrenia who. Have a lot issues with continuing to take care medication. Her. I'd expect reasons and move reasons it's just kind of not not being able to comply for one reason or another. And so it is really important to try to find some things that could encourage them. To continue on there on their medication but at the same time. Some of the very symptoms of the illness. Such as you know paranoia and and suspicion. Might who raised questions about whether people would in fact want to take. Aids pill that would tell their doctor. That they are taking it in you know it says there's sort of this bears out their suspicions that there are doctors actually monitoring my particular thing. Well he and you addressed that in your article there's a lot of people live look at this. I whole concept as a tremendous invasion of their privacy. The blue moon yes some people will will certainly see it that way it is voluntary. And that there. You know the counterargument to that is you have to sign up you know either. You have plus proletariat today. The Japanese who if you're the insurance company. At least if I was writing an insurance company I would say what it'll take your medication. We're gonna drop you because you're you're not you hear it up following the protocol you're you're gonna right if you're you're gonna cost us money if you don't take that medication. That's the concern that there would be either something's either punitive. Dead an insurance company would do. Or just the way that it would be structured in terms of an incentive maybe they say you get a discount. Or you get a preferred. Premium or croquet. Discount if you do it this way and so on people say that ethically that could be interpreted as as. Coercive as well. Well Pam thank you very much for your time appreciate it sure we are. Him bella from the New York Times and you know. The there's two sides that trade jock I mean they I'm I'm thinking about the patient who wants the privacy but the same time. If you don't finish your medications very regardless of the day. The type of medication you're taking up it could cost that insurance company more money. So if I can understand why the insurance company would say. They edu take this pill every day or we're gonna drop we reluctantly by your health insurance from house. That it's time outs and it's a slippery slope. It just doesn't seem to be consistent. With protecting people's rights to privacy and the right to make their own decisions still make your decision just can't buy insurance from a little if no I don't like it on it now. Obviously you know that Sampson if they don't if know appropriate and what's the point. Well they'll cover you but yet documents. But but that's about like you know they again like if you say hey I don't want to take this week. Who were they refuse coverage completely because it cost more money that interest. That's that's the night I just think that we're talking about something that is the rest invade privacy and I'd want zero part. He. I want no part of it I never. I think it's matches I wouldn't be surprised if insurance companies push forward I I hate it I I think that it is something. That is all I tell you what you're customers CDS and you know prescription filled it's what they do. Doctor. Hi everybody it's very Armstrong and potluck ski from the law firm Cushing in dole and we're talking today. About that state and asset protection strategies. That can help reduce or eliminate your state taxes. Todd is it true that a married couple living in new wing and with two million dollars and assets pays a voluntary. Gift tax. A 100000. Dollars of the government at trusts in place I'd certainly can't be certainly depends on what state and to be you know I'll let us say Calif if if you if you have assets and you can't each state has their own exemption. You know like the federal exemption amount is 5490000. Dollars. You can pass that amount. Estate tax free to anybody you want. In any state. But and a lot of people say oh we have that kind of you know but. And so the goal is by doing basic estate planning and using trusts you can double whatever that's data exemption amount is thereby hopefully eliminating. Voluntary estate taxes. Up to whatever that exemption amount is double. Request your copy of pods brand new guide it's called reducing and eliminating the state taxes. You can call and receive the guide the poll number 8668485699. Or visit his website it legal exchange showed dot com net. Legal exchange showed dot com or call for free 866. 8485699. Markets are odd time. But questions remain about whether or correction is coming. We've got you covered every day with the what's not and what's not from Mike Armstrong. Mornings at 1030 only on the financial exchange radio network. Hoover and lift both have a common problem. You know they're trying to recruit drivers if you listen to the radio you hear the on this station you'll hear ads by Cooper and buy list trying to recruit drivers. To their technology platform. The problem they're having. Jock is. The they're they're trying to provide low cost service to consumers which they've been very successful at doing. I arrived at Logan Airport on Sunday night at 11 o'clock in for sixty dollars I got to. Picked up at Logan Airport a Nissan rogue and driven all the way door to door. Clean car. You know that used to cost me 200 bucks but I would take if I take a black car back in before Cooper and I was 200 dollar. It probably still should be 200 dollars the problem like tumors not making money off that's the thing. What's the liberal left you know what's interesting here is that these companies and there's been a lot of complaints about the the search pricing strategies that they employ and what that search pricing. Does if you're not familiar with any of these platforms. Is. If there is a large demand for. Drivers to a situation we have a bunch of people looking for them. Prices go up that it sent advises drivers to come in and drive okay. But the problem is that you often see such a flood of drivers that you're not able to take to pick up as many rights as you would any low. Demand environment so what's interesting is regardless of where the the rate for the rides tends to be. Over drivers tend to make somewhere in the same ballpark regardless of whether it's the standard fare twice as much three times as much or any other variation. Of that price and so typically you know a lot of these drivers make anywhere between fifteen and twenty dollars an hour but that doesn't factory in. The gas they have to factor in the depreciation on their vehicle doesn't factor in the insurance so when you net all that out. They might only be making a little bit above minimum wage to twelve dollars now and kill their car in the cars getting beat up. You know. You know what that question I asked this to our audience that is driving for Hoover is right now I can tell you that he's somebody listening to the show. That is you know driving for from her list looper. Pays a bonus. A 500 dollars if you complete 120. Trips during the course of the week. When republic drivers that are able to accomplish a moot point 120. Trips on a weekly bass gazette 500 dollar bonus that's a nice carrot right it is if you if you can make an extra 500 dollars driving for Hooper you're gonna make that effort. I wonder with the and I wonder how many hours you have to work in order to accomplish. A hundred point I would think if you're in the city. Because a lot of the drives the city years like 51015. Minute. I would guess she probably after somewhere around fifty to sixty hours Utica and I think the average driver probably does about two trips and our mail in that ballpark that does that you have to really put some effort into it. You do does that 500 boxes that that's been to victory change shape they let you probably you do that every week that section 25000 dollars and aren't aren't you know so you do that puts Jamaican. You know your base of if you do a sixty hours a week you probably taken on 2400 Syria if you do that you probably making like 75000. Gross. Yeah net out all the expenses for car maintenance and so forth you're probably somewhere around fifty. And I think to remember is in order to make that kind of money you have to work. You know 5060 hours a week oil and it's not just that you have to work kind of some bad times or you don't work at 2 AM shift on Saturday Friday Saturday you've got to be hit it. You know you don't get to work you know tend to. Monday through Friday know what you gotta drive on New Year's when you don't wanna be driving like you've got to drive on all beef it's it's like running a restaurant you are working all the times than everyone else's Alpine right. If you don't wanna work for whoever. You can work for MGM they are ramping up their hiring for the Springfield casino we are opening a career center. And they are actually hiring now in anticipation of opening in one year. Casino scheduled to open in September of eighteen they're expected to employs 3000 people in Springfield so it's going to be a big employers there. And their opening this career center Broussard hiring. You know across a variety of positions anything from dealers to management and so forth. And pretty much they are expecting that about 35% of the workforce in Springfield to be from the city and 90% of the workforce is going to be from the city. And the surrounding towns there's so they're largely trying to focus on that Springfield population. They have also said. That they are going to be changed up a little bit in terms of the the overall mix of odd games they have their little bit more in terms table games and moving away from slots just because table games tend to be a little bit more popular millennia I'll tell you get a foot whenever I go home always going to blackjack here craps or something like that. Now they are going. Just just in terms of dollar what you think about the financial impact. Act on the Springfield area a hundred million dollars a year in there. That's a lot of a lot of money average salary. Not including your benefits and fight and pension and all that kind of stuff. Average salary for these workers will be more than 40000 dollars a year that's a good way to Springfield Massachusetts has cost of living out there. You buy a nice hole for in Springfield or that area for hundreds of. 250 yeah exactly so you know it's if they're pretty good paying jobs for that area out there and again you're talking about 3000 jobs they're going to have there mom and that is going to be opening. In September of 2018 so we're only about ten months away now like they're they're get. Close career center will be open one until 4 PM Monday through Friday through the end of the year. And then they're gonna open longer. After January 1 but they've got a lot of hiring to do in the job are it's a little bit tight now it's looser out in Springfield is the job market that product there but it's still. It's it's that that's a boon for the year. I wonder if they're able to have a bit there's a lot of workers down at you know foxwoods Mohegan that are from that central mass air that drive down to foxwoods Mohegan to work I wonder if some of them say hey I'm gonna head over to MGM to its closer and I can do the same job same job and in and you got. Boat that you wonder what happens tomorrow he thought I think those places are dead now I think they are in. Not just because I think that the MGM's gonna have an impact I think with a win opens and Boston. I think I think five I think foxwoods and Mohegan both legacy. The dips in walking around Mohegan Sun 50% of license plates of mass choose to lose their recent Delhi I was gonna say after a rocket I just and I only counted ten cars. But it was still five out of the tent master but they go through a thirty to 40% dip in revenue. Pay estate planning can have many benefits especially if it's done early it's extremely important to protect your assets. That you worked so hard to retain but I bet you didn't know that if you do your planning the Writely you might also be able to eliminate the estate taxes. Right hailing boom we're just talk about Hoover. Will mean decades of slow growth for carmakers while I think you're gonna have a lot fewer cars on the road when he your trip hoping hat today. No I've thought about this and I've gone back and forth and where I tend to stand right now. I don't know if these studies are taking into account human behavior when the when they look at the demand for vehicles because. Yeah the trend in the future it's obvious and we've talked about this you can have your Thomas Kerr come and pick you up and you don't opponent picks you up when you go off to work and and so one down the line for it. If it goes to work the same time OK so the need for vehicles we see our vehicles are you on use 90% at China. Everyone's still needs to go to work at 7 o'clock eight cone would. Any time you leave your house at Mitchell to draw creatures at the time he usually does little before six. So if they decrease the cost by 20% would you leave your house later. The music if they do with costly because it can mean you know I don't I don't I don't I don't base my time going to work based on cost. Quite a lot of people. Will. Change their behavior I think a lot of employers will let the employers can't. I think that if your retailer right what it would get it do say hey we're retailers all be on a I'm ready to more retail let's let's say that doctors let's say your restaurant now. You can say hey you don't need to get in the breakfast restaurant you know if you're Dunkin' Donuts are gonna say hey we don't median of five like it. People to get to work when they need to get to work and so. Maybe they'll be carpool options. I think what's gonna happen is the types of vehicles we ever gonna change OK I think you're gonna go way. From the traditional four door five person vehicle that they can have a whole lot more once eaters to cedars as well as eight to ten cedars you know for people who don't see similar locations the bosses that they have that are. The one in Vegas that crashed. See that first yeah first book to be fair it got hit by someone else puts them right. I don't know if you. He sought that the GM has put out some prototypes and they look like eggs. Yeah yeah it can drive it's like field VW buses you know and and and I think you're gonna see. A lot more the one cedars where you just need a one seat to go to work great you've got this little bit of golf cart thing that's gonna take you there. Not going to be an awful lot of fun but you know it's what you gonna take it will be the cheapest option sure gonna change the automobile industry it well that well I still think we have the same number of vehicles that we do but I think that type changes significantly. It. Do this if you want to escape the GOP capital on mortgages if you were call part of the Republican tax plan. Is to eliminate. The interest deduction associated with the second hole so many of you might own a home on the K sorry kids but don't at home on the cape and the tax reform bill is going to make it impossible. For you to deduct your mortgage interest what did you way to circumvent. Yeah effectively this could incentivized more people to start renting out these property announced. Instead of keeping them as second homes and so it's something where hey you try to change behavior in order to incentivized one thing you end up incentivizing an entirely different sets. Of behaviors instead in a curious to see. If this is something that that actually changes if if we see. New caps on the mortgage deduction on state and local taxes. Look if you don't pay maybe start seeing more people renting out some of the second homes as vacation homes may be becomes more affordable to head down the caper up to the lakes. They would we come back bird be talking about an entire classification. Of worker. That is gonna begin getting tested for all you it's beginning on January 1 of twenty team that's right. Open your testing begins on January 1 when he eighteen at this classification of workers that's next from the financial exchange radio network.
