This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks are now. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus give breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. Little known details about the CBS acquisition of Aetna are beginning to emerge and come out. The tax plan the trump tax plane just how popular is it with Americans. And finally. We have a Medicare fraud case that is worth in excess of 146. Million dollars your tax dollars at work folks I everybody it's very truck with you here. On. A ring Wednesday. And son of a gun we're learning more more it's it's a good day Tucker to be Marc Byrd leaning Marc Byrd leaning this yield that. Yeah Aetna's outgoing CEO is going to end up spot getting somewhere in the ballpark of 500 million dollars. If this CVS deal ends up closing here hmmm and so the combined pale when you look at some kickers and so forth. And it being about half a billion dollars here between the stock that he has and so. Four when there's a clause in his contract and kudos to his attorney. Clause in his contract talks says if there's a change of control yup in Aetna. I get 85 million bucks just one little. Little sentences employment agreement it did just that was so there's Roger Goodell just one little sentence that part of it you sit there and say how hard as he been pushing for the snow in the he's got that he earned dollars coming in I have done are you getting a new Harley well it and look he has a partly. Does does he ever has a Harley but he to you by the whole company. Yeah I mean he. Pretty much could at this point. You know obviously he's going to get a big payout if this deal does end up going through open and you take a look just at his stewardship of this company. You know in any kind of where they've gone under his watch. And you'd be hard pressed to say he's not worth. And so you say okay he's getting half billion dollars as he worked that lets look at the last five years of Aetna stock intact at this guy I just wanna point out. I am a stockholder in that. My wife does. Aetna five years ago on 12102012. Was trading at 45 dollars a share and would we get to a 74207. So he's quadrupled the value of the company in a span that's right stockholders don't complain I was talked into an Augusta this morning's call it's disgusting he's getting 500 million dollars says look. The stock yea you you've been a lot of money with this right this is in the case this is like Steve Ballmer of Microsoft received g.s were paying this guy billions of dollars would see Donald stock. This is a case where he did. A phenomenal job leading that company into this eventual transition and I was gonna say. It appears Don a quadrupled the stock price the last five years yeah I'm gonna take half a billion dollars he done a very popular in Connecticut I wonder fees Connecticut resident and if Connecticut's gonna get a chunk of that 500 million. And that's a good question that aggregate that I'd be really curious thing any of our listeners in Hartford and WUP lead to let us know where does mark bird leaning live. And he's es need Macon where you'll make the half a million or the half a billion went missing after he won't make it's 500 million dollars. Until next year is a steal snuck in a close to what second quarter expected second half of next year's us probably half pro Weiss along adjust there's a lot of different hurdles they have to clear from regulatory perspective in first and then also. Is this a pretty complex deal you know this is these are not companies that necessarily fit well together. In terms of old pieces right now so it's gonna take the saying up to seven and nine months to get the steal clothes while. Texas second half of next year. Is when it will close if it doesn't close these deals when you have a merger between two major companies like CVS and there's usually some kinda break the what does that mean well to have battle relationships. Break appease him now. It's called eat you have heard Australia got a got alimony child support now in this particular merger. The there's a break up and CBS's the acquiring company they're acquiring yet. But if they at some point decide for whatever reason. Gee we don't want to do this deal we we announce something out about Aetna. After the fact. And and we've decided. We don't wanna do the or or the DOJ comes and and says yet we're not Italy you do this deal. If this deal could break up for myriad of reasons and if that's the case CVS has a tremendous financial liability. Yet they would know at net two point one billion dollars in those scenarios but likewise. Aetna would OC BS two point one billion if the deal fell apart because of opposition from Aetna shareholders or the company into taking a better offer. So if Aetna says hey we've got this 270. Per dollar per share offer. Then all of a sudden if Walgreens comes in says they were gonna pay 220. Aetna's gonna oh CBS two point one billion dollars if they take that other off. Seattle think anybody's gonna command I don't either if they did come in it's not going to be Walgreens it's gonna be. With a big health care company could buy Amazon no oh actually. Would nappy interest and Amazon could like what if Amazon buys health that your. When Amazon bought drugs. Would anything surprise you at that company don't just let it Amazon at this point it's a yeah we're buying NASA public and in the in the late nothing would surprise to see the death which we bought the DOD we had all this money it would Audubon details why not come coming back full circle I was in whole foods island Sunday. And Amazon as you know acquire whole foods that you would get 500 stores. They now have walkers in hole for ams and actually yams on packages delivered them. Wonder what would about Amazon buying Walgreens or radiator words some small his. I don't think they need those I think if if they want to get into that pharmacy business he need an insurance company. Government and I'm not saying they actually need one then but all sings if they want to the do radar this whole foods locations. Open it up in there. But they don't need that they've got to footprint now on they do but it's a small correction that's 500 stores CBS has 101000. They don't need 101000 all wants. And you know if they wanted more stores even in the grocery second picker bought a Kroger they could be gone out and bought you know Stop & Shop or something you know they said hey we we want to go in and buy this because it gives us distribution in the areas we want. But what nothing would surprise me like again M zucker come out and say yeah we're. We decided that we wanted to while we're buying Sony. You know why why not politically nothing would surprise me. Donald Trump says that Americans are ecstatic. About the Republican tax plan idea that this is a quote from Donald Trump I view it. More than anything else as it's a tremendous bill for jobs in the middle class the president told reporters at the white house on Tuesday. And I think people. See that and they're seeing more and more and the more they learn about it the more popular becomes. And I think the end result will be even better however. However Mr. President. Polling would indicate that your. Tax plan is not very popular a Gallup poll found it. 29%. Of Americans approved of the truck tax bill while 56%. Disapproved the quinnipiac poll. Found that 29% approved and 53% disapproved. Well in the other thing is as we continue to lug a Lana have a chance to examine the the bill that passed the senate mean. It's becoming pretty clear that there are some pretty big problems at that they didn't realize in their haste to get it passed yet so you remember how we were talking yesterday about that corporate AMT that was staying in that 20% right. They did the math wrong hoops instead it is that they did the math wrong on so it's a happens instead math is really hard instead of raising about forty billion dollars in revenue it's actually gonna raise about 300 billion dollars graphical. So they they they made an error of that's out there. Depends how you look at it if your company it's bad right and back the the CEO of Marie poll came out today and said if this bill goes through you know it was gonna be out of business he he's a big drops of documents Italy what the heck are we doing like this this is and what we're trying to Darrel out of business and some other things that are interesting says some states have already started talking about ways to get around the salt reduction being limited though how's that how would you do that so because it's based on state income taxes and property taxes. All the states would be able all have to do is say okay we're gonna get rid of our income tax from turning into a payroll tax that faces the employers allow employers to cut wages and all of a sudden you can deduct all that. Through the employer side. That's actually very created. Just as I did I'd like I EC is is seeing the tax plan. For further cause all types of ways you can gain the the and it's not good war or the coastal states like the northeast we. Crushed by the stunt to variant popularity especially especially stately New Hampshire that is hot property taxes I was talking to Jackie. And and he's bitten all kinds agree. About this place and Jackie's the big morning show and New Hampshire. But I'm curious. About you guys. Do you like the trumpet tax plan that is our poll question today deal like it. I eat go to our website financial exchange show dot com to participate and purple. Polling from Gallup and quinnipiac indicate that only 29%. Of Americans approve of the trump tax bill. If you'd like to participate again in the poll that financial exchange show dot com I came across a disturbing story in the Wall Street Journal. Brooklyn prosecutors. Said that they charged twenty people. And fourteen corporations. In 8146. Million dollar fraud scheme calling it the biggest health care case in their offices. History we're gonna talk about that story next from the funny to exchange radio network. Arian Joakim the latest every day beginning at ten only here on the financial exchange radio network. Korean uranium from the Wall Street Journal's joining us now to talk to us about eight to 146. Million dollar health care fraud case in Brooklyn New York. I current. Well thank you so how does one. Defraud Medicare. For a 146 million dollars. Well look this camera operated out several storefront clinics in and Brooklyn's. And to a group of twenty people. Had this sort of organized system where they lived on named potential patients at places like soup kitchen and other sort of public places and offer them cash in exchange for going to one of the clinic. At the clinic they would then be given test. That were totally unnecessary. And sometimes even just entirely fate and the doctors. Defendants with Ben and bill for these tests billed Medicare and Medicaid. And get money about what. OK so these people didn't have private insurance they were coverage either dear indigent were they were old and had Medicare coverage back. So who was involved who was the ringleader. Don't really care wired. This woman who lived in southern Brooklyn her they would Christina and nearby obligate conscious 35. And she had very fancy tastes and used the money she that this scheme to sort of fund those pace even bragged about bad things and Paxson. Can't be purchased at the humane manner in Japan account. The participant included aid to 3.2 five million dollar. Penthouse apartment in Brooklyn which she managed to pay for entirely cash. In addition to paint issues luxury bags. Those sorts of things. What day I would think you'd have to have some involvement though by medical professionals doctors nurse practitioners physician's assistants. Yes of almost 24 hour actually doctors and doctors are required sort of quote read the test and then sign off on them. And there's a phone call that the district attorney's office recorded. In which one of the doctors is saying that he's. Behind on fifteen housing patent. And the ringleader says she's very very mad at him because he'd gotten so behind on his delicate work. So would do they do they pay the doctor for doing those tests and. They did they paid the doctors per cat and one of the doctors who also worked as a New York police department department surgeon and he's since been. Has gotten it from the department. So how much money where the doctors making on this scale don't know. The doctors or make. Sure that we actually. Away. No we do not know how much the doctors maiden are the ones equivalent to analyze it tests were paid 25 to sixty dollars per cat. That's actually where would add up significantly if we're talking about you know 151000 test here. Now the doctor noodles that these were faked tests. They did the doctor certainly knew their pick test because they were actually. Not analyzing them they were just signing off on them. All kick. Now EU reference. Unnecessary examinations such as an allergy test or ultrasound. Or how much is an ultrasound get billed leg how much does Medicare get billed for an ultrasound or how much does Medicaid get billed for an allergy test. That's a great question and I actually don't know how much they get bill. Whatever it is it's certainly added up because at a 146 million which is over three years. Is a huge amount of money for the Brooklyn for helped her case for the Brooklyn district attorney's office and today actually estimate that. That this game was going on before they investigated it and that there's no is more out. Well in my point would be if it's going on in Brooklyn it's probably going on in Florida probably going on in Texas is probably going on in California. It probably is. And probably going on in a similar way. Right let's that that may explain why our health care costs are so expensive I hope they hope they do more to catch. Other operations just like this around the country Korean. So thank you very much appreciate. It discouraging it passed. Normally see these things happening in Florida. Ranked just because it's it's where you typically have the using the greatest concentration of people on Medicare and things like that so that's where it is a lot Aziz it's yet and any kind of insurance scam usually starts in Florida. But in this case one of things I found amazing was just they still haven't been able to tell all the money it was just in this woman's apartment. You know they they asked how much money they had their and that in the guy said she must've been planning to get away if you Seattle is cash net write it dining. Why I think that's probably how she has to be people so. You know can she can't be pay like she can be paid with any kind of record it's traceable you can do it a wire or anything like that. Push the money's being wired though and paid by check for Medicare and Medicaid to the doctors. IC but the doctors are beer than wiring it to her mountain it's it's even easier to track but I mean again you're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars here. Even in pure fraud in those of you paying a 135 dollars a month for your Medicare part B now you know why. Right now as I like this is an ethical people people all they don't care totally 146 million dollar to a you know what this is the only scam that's going you know that occurrence point this is going on it's alone on a Boston. And definitely if you've got you know tenor twenty of these that are going on throughout the country which. I wouldn't find it hard to believe that they are you know 121 and BO a number of major cities of Sydney talking hey we get two to three billion dollars in waste. The shame of it is private institutions like Aetna. Or insurance companies. They know how to protect against this that day they have systems in place the federal government running Medicare and Medicaid. They tend to get ripped off all the time because there's a just nobody's real money at stake if you're running Medicare witty candidate running Social Security we insurance companies have had their fair share of things like this is well I mean we see it all the time with auto insurance and maybe maybe they don't. Publicize it. Yeah maybe maybe you see you think it's just as rampant in the private sector's least he was a lot with like fake auto insurance claims and now like that it's not to this deal necessarily. But it is it still happens there's no doubt about it I don't know if it happens more or less but it happens on the private side to him with. Amazon in mind Suffolk downs developer seeks environmental. Review waivers this a sign that Amazon's come into Boston I don't know. It's interesting and you know obviously. The it is a sign that Amazon's at least intra state new boss knew we know that we know the Boston probably one of the top five or six cities here and at that Suffolk downs site. Has the space avail but the last time do we saw and we reported this Boston was number two. On hierarchy of likely candidates to kind Atlanta yeah in what what's interesting about that Suffolk downs area I still don't know for has the the mass transit that it needs to be able to get you ever wonder where they need to ago could you live right around there. Yeah you could but it's it's not big enough to house ever won it also doesn't give you a ton of options and as far as housing everyone there. You know it if they didn't want to live in that area so. From my perspective the biggest thing that you need to do. Would be to expand the Blue Line. In you you'd have to take that for so crosses the Red Line at some point just so that you can get people in from. Either the the temperatures area where the South Shore. And the second thing is can't drive there. The sickening that you still could US part of this that we needed for awhile is building an actual subway connection to Logan Airport right now there's an airport stop. But he have to get off there and and take a bus to your terminal. You'll get a lot of these other major airports you get right off B can hop on near the DC metro and Philly can hop on the training go right to where you go and you can't do that. So that that's another big piece of infrastructure that Neil is missing. It in this bid. How are your shipping your packages this winter you're using UPS. Buyer beware they are having major problems. The trump tax plan is proving to be very unpopular with the American voters but I wonder if they're taking into account. The fact that the stock market rally we've had during the last several months is a largely due to the trump tax plan. Our poll question today is do you like the tri tax plan. You can participate in the poll by going to financial exchange dot com thus far it's 5050 Tucker never seen this before. This city for an easy though it's a dead heat I get 53 known. 53 no. You don't it is knows well here's here's the that the problem. From a personal side. If you if you will hole and you live in New England you're probably missed. In that if you rent. You know you're you're you're gonna make out I don't know if you necessarily get whacked too badly they get it's a case where you might lose Selma in terms or get you you're gonna pay a little bit more likely. He has a lot it's not a case the average a Wall Street Journal has calculator. You can go on and that's around Oden. Net UT tickled that other GOP tax calculator but I see it in my fitness saga. I'm gonna take it easy easy they are out to me out and like I looked at mine and I smacked but it's because I paler property tax. You know I've I've updated ridiculous and if if you're someone pays a lot of property tax it obviously hurts more. The average family like it's the thing is it's going to be a case where something we pay 500 more simply 500 less the you have just going to be a Porsche make it's it's kind of six and one half dozen of another league it's not really do little long. And what do they do us favor participate in the poll financial exchange showed dot com we'll keep fuel apprised of with the results are as the show proceeds. UPS I'll tell you what. UPS is a terrific company I don't know on the stock. But the as a logistics company. They've been around longer than FedEx FedEx came around long after UPS. And over the years chuck. World renowned for their logistics capability. This year though there have been one heck of a time they have been. Absolutely overwhelmed. By online orders. And my fault and their deliveries are and what Dick they're just not do it did not hit their numbers. It's yeah yeah it's it it's not good for them simply because. They they have more packages than they can handle right now when they have indicated now that they are going to be going through some delivery delays. As people place their orders and try to get goods for. On the holidays here and and and look I'm a prime example of this I'll go through and since. This is since November. 22 to showcase this is in the last two weeks yup. The number of orders that I have placed on Amazon 123. 45567889. I have nine orders in fourteen days. My wife does that on Sunday afternoon. So it's it's our fault and flexibility deer there aren't more than thirty million packages a day swab the here's the number here's the raw numbers folks. 89 point 2% of parcels shipped three UPS were delivered on the day they were promised. Fedex's number 99 point 4%. FedEx is outperforming UPS I wouldn't Wear on time delivery so here's a question FedEx he's doing Amazon correct. So it but they're not they're not big with ams. That's probably the biggest difference is the following the this year although they probably the biggest UPS's signal to the gist. Can you yes UPS is delivering 750. Million packages thanks to a 401 remember we reported yesterday. UPS drivers are working seventy hours a week yeah. Seventy hours a week I mean. And and they just think about what do you let's say like I work seventy hours a week but I have a physical job east what's your UPS driver you're in and out of that game truck all day. He ran upstairs beats what what you Castro or make him 3540 bucks now or standard. Good question it is probably twenty of listening right now. Woody is make. It's I think their price Macon based paid a Tennessee eighty grand so with that forty grand. Forty as our 3548 hours so you figure on average half the time this week is gonna be over time. Say go on time and have to figure fifty bucks an hour or another make and be this week they're Macon doubled their normal pay check. So if it let's let's look at it and call it you know sixty when he averaged it all out there Macon 4200 bucks a week right now so and they're earning you know that they're gonna make. Fifteen to 181000 dollars this month so it's a big chunk of change. But they're also can take the entire month of January off to recuperate. No no big deal they'll keep all inhabit the the you know the either gonna miss Christmas with the family it's a really. Again they they're doing thirty million packages a day for pretty much three to four weeks straight. And there haven't talked I'm Harry there's a FedEx drivers texting every two he sang we do a lot of him on. Ya I thought that the the but what does he make he's tied and yet acted to get Texas back and let us know your hourly rate no one no we're we're nosy nosy yeah. Bowed out expect it's 5050 now. Getter fresh very high it hit a fresh hit it again that the votes coming fast and furious Baird you know 5050 from the got 5050. Financial exchange showed our crop but it didn't change again in two. Disney is about to go to war with Netflix. And fox could be a big weapon. Yeah this is it is interesting to look at this deal this potential deal with Disney acquiring Fox's studio last sets. And they're not by Fox News addict no we do not buying any of the cable channels they're buying the studio last and so 21 century fox twentieth whatever it is I can't remember the number. But they're buying those studio since that's what they want our. The properties that are held within there what are they gonna pay. And yet it remains to be seen it's you know he's deal negotiated yet it's going to be probably Asia Monday morning deal right we'll find out Monday morning yeah I would imagine this Monday this following Monday of the over the one after that but it's somewhere in that ballpark here. The big thing is Disney is trying to build a library of movies they're pulling their content off Netflix and they want to have this library to be able to say subscribe to our service don't subscribe to Netflix. Disney is the modern day Wal-Mart. Of the media. Streaming business I mean it as dumb as Wal-Mart was as a relates to Amazon. Disney is proving to be equally incompetent and as a relates to net disagree. The they blew it Netflix they gave Netflix how many subscribers Netflix I'm 110 million in the ballpark global yeah Netflix is a global power house. And Disney. Won't even watch until 2019. They'll never catch folks. Wouldn't it will never catch Netflix has never gets me paid subscribers but yet except now. Check Netflix is spending seven to eight billion dollars a year on new content yup how much is Disney. Even if they combine with India that are with fox box how much is will they be spending. Disney may be four billion. I don't know exactly how much they're spending the Disney in terms of what their cash flow they can crush Netflix if they want to once they finally build their pot becoming cheaper than Netflix they take a beer Blair if they build a platform. Were all of a sudden Netflix doesn't have any content aside from their own. Does Disney owned part of Lou. They do they'll part of who but you look at this you say the key money we get a portion of the revenue from Hulu. Disney take a look at the financials here in their cash flow just the sheer amount of assets that they're sitting on a plan. They give if they want to big Netflix again I said this yesterday. Netflix did all the expense of R&D work for Disney now. There's there's nothing proprietary. About what Netflix dollars no but you know it is truck is Q you sign up for Netflix and you know I look my my daughter uses my Netflix account my kids use it. He paid the risen eleven pattern I just an email yesterday saying your memberships going to be going up to 1099. OK so campaign and I am in U of U yours is you get the premium rate of 1213 bucks a database like on. I'm not an excellent in the because my kids would be you'll cancel it now but what if all of a sudden. Disney says hey we're gonna go on a content spending spree we're gonna buy up all of the directors and all the actors who have contracts with netbooks win. We're gonna take charges the new black. We are you've got a contract that which we'll pay you double in order to come for us they're still so far behind they're starting zero and by the day I'm not starting at zero they are they have no subscribers they have the they don't even have a platform but that doesn't mean they're not starting at zero how many like. If the only place you can watch frozen. Is on Disney's flatten. How many parents are gonna say shut up kid on Gannett ominous sign up for and may be made lake remains to be seat by the time. By 2019 let me ask you question when he nineteen. How many Netflix subscribers. Does do they have. By 2019150. Million I mean that's a big head start it's like to. That that's currencies equal to what Wal-Mart did with Amazon Wal-Mart at their head in the sand but today nothing are hi this is saying nothing proprietary. That Netflix happens. Like all I did know they all their own content is proprietary. The old stuff but who again who subscribes for old stock. Like guys like me it's it's all about what is coming next the reason that Netflix became popular was because they had a whole bunch of westerns. Don't know it's because they came out with their own content that was good now if Disney's content is awful in book here's a real question. Tucker when asked on deeds Disney did anything edgy. But they don't it's not only they don't have never there's so to be fit like you look at where the content is going right now and I'm platforms like HBO one netbooks and so from it all has a level of edged the Disney has been unwilling to go to to this. Yup yes they do I mean some of the stuff frankly is. Maybe a little over the top the EC one Netflix on Netflix but only because that is that we got a little kids watch of that stuff I'm like well you can you can set parental locks them out stuff for Kenya are fair. A British or you can now put all saying is you know Disney's got a big war chest and what a year from now. I I think you're gonna come back in years it may even twenty years I think. Five years from track. I'll be. Retired the egg and and you'll say you know Barry was right Disney never caught up to Netflix and you very uncles that's normal the I find it hard to write off the company that's that BH. And that in that knows the business so well in terms of how to be creative. You know what John Maloney won't be. He'll he'll still be around and he's gonna join us in the next segment to talk about Kohl's and Macy's that's next from company to exchange rated. Everybody it's Barry Armstrong and I'm joined by estate planning attorney Todd what ski from the law firm Cushing and dole and we're talking about. Gifting assets can you explain Todd the differences. Between gifting assets away from an IRS perspective. Vs gifting assets away from Medicaid. Perspective this is a great question because two things one the amount you can give away for and I RS purposes is 141000. Today and come 2018 the news is it's gone up to 151000. Seems to go up about every three or four years yeah. Emeka by a thousand nor Google guys sell. There will be 151000. That you can give away. And what that means from an IRS perspective is that you. Do not need to file a gift tax return and you do not need to Pena gift taxes and you will not used up any of your gift tax exclusion. It is an out right freebie. 151000. Dollars to anybody you want to give it to do I have to clear as the recipient that's a question how often yesterday you know. Mom gives their son. 101000 dollars and then that subtle call me settlement on gave me -- 101000 dollars to have to declare that anywhere from you know absolutely nothing for the recipient and most importantly nothing for the gipper. However the differences for Medicaid purposes. It will be eight disqualifying transfer. It doesn't matter that it's not taxable for the IRS if you think you can give away 151000 dollars and protect it from the nursing home without creating a five year waiting period. You are incorrect. Folks it's important to learn how to properly if you're assets you don't run afoul of the Internal Revenue Service or Medicaid. Call Cushing handle an 8668485699. I see. John Mooney joins us now frequent contributor frequent co host here on the financial exchange there was talk about retail stocks. John how are. I'm a couple here makes pieces one that jumped out it's kind of interesting year. Chuck. There that there is thought about the fact that we just heard there's going to be hiring additional 7000 workers part time beyond. The thousands and they announced before. Added on and that's because of additional demand and you know the stock is really interesting it's a 6% dividend it's only eleven times PE which is very cheap. And there's a real estate play here fierce battle some incredible properties in New York City Chicago and San Francisco. That probably by themselves. Is worth more than the stock price in addition the real estate they own elsewhere. And the really interesting thing about my Macy's is they're actually say what they have a real estate that's illiquid. You're actually monetize in the real estate chuck because like in New York they have this massive place. Debt higher floors they're leasing out at high dollars. Two industries outside of retail that need that guy able realist and so they're finding ways to monetize he had been running it better. They easily covered their dividend there's still more or like two dollars and fifty cents next year cost about a buck and after their dividend so. It's appealing valued belly play. What about just as a pure retailer mean that there's not much there to melting ice cube right. I disagree. They're doing something to improve their improving and that the product mix for sure they are striking striking the export content closing lots of under performers. They're trying they're doing better fashion and I think the most appealing thing yours stay at this concept called backstage. Which everybody told a mission done like 56 years ago they didn't wanna cannibalize their business. Basically you know we that we that we go to marshall's right in by woods at Macy's 25% cheaper yeah well. They can do the same thing and what they're gonna do with the bigger stores or it will about a hundred of these and I think you'll see more than the largest source like when he went there have been rushed to war with in this war. Think about like a Marshall heights store. That has heavily discounted products with them restore. But it's not gonna cannibalize their business because let's say European sizes whatever. You go in there and like one week ago and a half of that in backstage yup and actually they're not. So it's gonna have to hunt which is part of what hole. Argument from marshalls and TJ Max is with out I don't think cannibalizing their business. And the bottom and they're they're still making a lot of money I mean they easily top that didn't look interesting point that someone made an analyst they said yeah yeah. He got this big dividend but that's the warning sign usually. And like BC EO Jeffrey give it doesn't horrible job of promoting his business said. You know if you look at the stock that's right. But if you look at the business. There's no reason why we campaigns to prevent and I thought to myself my gosh that's like a product that's what a signal. What what about rock Coles would receive from them they've they've found some stability in the last year it seems like. Yet a whole is obviously better positioned near term. They don't want to do from all the issue they're not involved they know their customer really well but tomorrow at least 20% 30% off. Deals that they sent direct to consumer debt the cold cash. They appear very safe four point 6% dividend. I slowly declining business part. In both cases both Kohl's and Macy's they're growing they're small online business double digits. Dip on the time as they transition. It would on the channel retailer and that's where we end up all these people will be doing multiple ways of getting that product to you it's. It's not good just bottom line it's not going to be just bottom line pick up the door open to whatever that college. And it's not going to be just in sports and I think these two companies survive in this on the channel retail business and they're much. Cheaper than beloved stocks. Gergen John thank you very much for the time gets over the soon. John Mooney talking about Macy's with a ticker M and Coles with a ticker KS ass in our poll question is deal like. The trump tax plan sixty point 5% of you saying yes I like it. 39 point 4% saying no I do not like the plane and who would not like the plan. Well if if you didn't participate in the stock market rally in because if he did you made a lot of money in the past few months. And if you itemize your return if you're one of those guys that itemized your tax return today. And you pay property taxes of 203040000. Bucks a year you don't like the trump tax plan if your whole Warner. In a high property tax state you do not like that trumped tax plan but if you rent it make it or or you don't file an itemized return. You're probably gonna make a few bucks. On that tax cut yes it's likely going to be again changes in the range of 250 to 750 dollars for most books. Don't forget go to our website financial exchange showed dot com and weigh in on your opinion of the truck tax plan. Dow has turned positive Dow's up 25 points the S and tees up a point. And the team nasdaq's up eight point. Very truck from the financial state radio network. Trump administration rule that schools cause waiters and waitresses servers and bartenders. To share their tips with the back we called them back officers. In the kitchen and I did you cut back the house back of the house. And we're covering a story about vacation guilt Americans don't take. Their vacation in addition to that a big story related to trucking. Tracking orders are on the rise. Hi everybody it's Berrian truck with you hear from the financial exchange radio network and vacation guilt this is a concept that is unfamiliar to trucks out. I don't understand. This at all I notable annual does this is it is this that's not true that's not true below any Eagles are unity. No any holes coming in and they say can I use my 2019. Vacation in. He says that's not true I don't even passed. I think that it's an X I I just do it. I've got a lot of vacation dead at this point I'll tell you about this chuck chuck you know normally when you leave a job great. They'll do it you don't just make money when I leave they'll say you well you know here you're entitled to another seven days of vacation time age to be alone subject. Trucks and whenever I anticipate believe that talks could it be in debt that's ordinaries is he still here tech's run and it's I think I can afford to leave any time you're 23 actually afford to leave it's not possible. If you read this the first year ever that I've actually gone under. Mile long advocates on I have half a day left and I'm not gonna use. So you don't have a bed and to have they somewhere Tucker that guy never takes his vacation time now rather than a psychotic and I don't that in. Accreditation and he's so I tried to tiger's deal. Thank you thought I hesitate attackers for years to sell my invitation. It's a but that no this this surreal thing though it's up about 66 point four billion dollars an equivalent lost benefits. Only 54 it on average American workers only use about 54%. Of their eligible vacation time. And so you only see about 23% of people taking all of the available time that's allotted to them. A further 10% take between three quarters and all of the time 16% take 51 to 75% of the time. But nine to 15% of people don't take any vacation each year and be good poll question Sunday. But how much vacation how much easier it is no doubt you take all your car do you take I don't yeah I'd pay the for years I didn't take my vacation time. The long time now will saying you have to give me credit for the several we have one sick day in eight years and that was the day after I got my appendix out I have track. I'm fifty years old I've never. Ever ever taken a sick on troop. What was merely a type two weeks ago I came in the pews and kind of this has been physically. And as you have got bearers are physically I go to a mentally very. You get a lot of I was talked into whatever clients of the cape. I'm just said who's that guy on the show with shocked today that. Roger. If you those of you sound like death. I was sick I didn't saga is sick that you see there's an old model in hockey rate seen hockey. You play her you never tell the trainer if you're at least you're like. Your legs scenario to you never acknowledge that you might be sick workers. I was not a very good player. And if you like I was lucky to be on the fourth line them and if I said Ellis had like six guys and it's sick I sit in the in the stands. That were happy to take my job and probably better than us so. You know I'd never. They've ever I learned that as a youth playing sport never acknowledged that might be sick or hurt because they're too many guys in the stands we take you John. What are they getting. It only saying only they have ever taken was when I got my appendix out. Yes hugged area undergo surgery and is one day it was back the next day and now which I would make the argument is no different map and kept right. I think nine times at San principal. People take a week off and I had I had surgery I would tell you story about my life that they know it's it's look any anything had just said won't end well for me so let's just move on and a continued there you will not and no movement and. Airlines are physically. Restraining more drunk and under rule Lee passengers now I fly a fair bit. I've never seen so you are seeing somebody get hauled off of plaintiffs are drunk. I've never seen images haul off the plane medicine drunk dude I don't blame I've I've seen a flight attendant after Collison to sit down and shut up a few times I've never yeah I've never seen no they're talking out later. They they have to. Restrain them right because they date being drunk is an android when they tell the extra seat belts and like put him around the clock and ended their seat and stuff like Lorena. And I'll bar cart now eat you get somebody who's a jerk on a plane that passengers jump in after 9/11. People that's true that's true you see a lot of and Agassi does vigilantism but if if this if this stewardess ever had a problem with a passenger and a V showboat tap one of the big guys in the back it's eighty. This guy has to deal a different era to help out tackle and somebody wants -- one on a bit late. But I've never seen. Have you guys have never seen as I've seen if that's awesome to add to be given CPR before it was an incident forcing which was scared and incident. Is reported every 1434. Flights I've flown much. 12%. Included physical assault up from 11% a year earlier. In about 13 of all incidents involving 3280. Passage it was surprising 13 were related to intoxication. While including 444. Registered cases that escalated physically so okay a third of them were drunk well the other two thirds. So I'll I'll say this you know I'll be nights you'll be able I had too much to drink your honor and and that to act like a jerk. Which I mean if you did two thirds at work drop. But I'll tell you what they were doing. There were smoking marijuana. Those those people just pass out they're the best people to fly with you say how great you know smell a little bit but yet you're not doing anything gasp but they're constantly hitting its customers button for a mortgage debts are two different things that you just have to have him here today I'm just a little hungry doing good but being a bidding. Anyway I just and I'd never seen that kind of physical confrontation no island an and a well I have never seen. In light again when every bit of 14100 flights that's more often than you'd think would be right one thing I did see a plane with toes and gently painfully think about this so. In terms of the number of flights in the US each day. There's about between depending on the dates between 22 and 30000. Yeah so you're talking about lake fifteen to twenty of these incidents a day. That's that's one of many of those aren't Vegas flights. You know go and and are coming out polls. Had a bad weekend in Vegas. Actually no you don't get back on the flight April gambled ticket away and it's so. Trucking companies boost big rig orders is a good sign for the economy. Yeah it is and we were talking back in sixteen about how big great orders were down actually. But trucking fleets this this year that rises this month ordered 32900. Class eight trucks. And that's up 70% from a year earlier so we were talking last year in sixteen about a trucking orders were down. It was a sign that we might be getting a little neo concerned and so forth this number here says. Hey if if those companies are are buying these trucks. They're not buying and so they can use him for six months to buying them because they think there's demand for the next couple years there and they wanna be able to take advantage. Nationally in polls that have been done by quinnipiac and Gallup. Only 29%. Of Americans approve of the trump tax plan. That's a national number Gallup quinnipiac check it out of the fear questioning. My statistics. Our question today is do you like the plane in an ad out save who doesn't like the tax plan. If you are filing an itemized tax return. And you pay a lot of property taxes to that do you live on waterfront property in Rhode Island you live on waterfront property in Connecticut war. You live on Governors Island in New Hampshire. But anyway your property taxes you don't. Are there 203040. Grand a year we get up and be able to deduct those anymore and you're gonna pay a higher rate of income income taxes a consequence so. Chances are if you're filing an itemized return today. Yeah you know it's a crazy about the struck tax plan. However. Consider the fact the stock market gains you've seen are largely due to the trunk tax and I hope people are taking that into consideration when they vote in our poll. Which is. Taking place at financial exchange show dot com deal like the trump tax put 65%. Of our listeners like soccer. In 34%. Do not like the term trump tax plan thus far. Joining us on the line now is Steve people oppose the owner of Dhabi o.s and Steve thank you very much for coming along with us. Jarrett thanks to Colin and I talk to you guys eloquence doesn't. Well look we're trying to learn a little bit from you at this point is you know that it is way better than either of us so let's let's talk about this potential change in rules here with. A new Labor Department ruled proposing. That spend poise that current over minimum wage would be able to earn tips and so it would affect in effect. Force restaurants to pooled tips is that what I'm gathering. Well technically you're correct but it where they won't affect doctor mastered it because we have a tip credit here. You can make minimum wage beat bedroom and it just seven and a quarter. And we pay our servers like three or something you know. So it wouldn't happen here. So it's who don't happen soon are still won't have any impact on Massachusetts is what you're saying. Not. An altogether New England states Steve like Barack Obama. Fortunate because I I'd expect aspect you know being a former. Did you guys I grew up in the kitchen and you know riot in Iowa the question are you gonna it a shot school. You know kitchen god I serve like guys in Ghana and I think it's ridiculous status server can't you know give him five dollars out and I needed it to its crazy so we would love that like this side. He just think it's unfair and so when I started just got all excited and of course. I called the block block that this mr. escorted out stated that they don't get too excited to join up for us not fortunate. Steve in terms of how you run tips Dhabi o.s at the moment you pull tips at that seem to remember you saying that you did. Yet while some are restaurants do at some dull I mean it really depends on what happened because we have a lot of function so you know it be parties in the servers on their own decide you know out. He pull that each other you know but they they handle their money and you know we don't. You know they they get their money paid out every night. And servers that chip out you know that the Q a portion of that book runner. The boxer you know the bartender they ought to they all kind of share in that money. But we're not allowed to give any of that money to anyone else you know and and it always kind of cracks up because. They say dad beat back a house or not be. Chips because the chips to the server right but I don't that. Didn't. There aren't. A great. Well and and that's kind of what I've always said is a lot of times people will tip based on whether or not a state was cooked medium instead of medium rare and they say oh you don't gonna tip was well. That's not the servers ball that's that's the guy in the back of the house and likewise if something comes out perfect you tip higher. The guy who's bringing you the food wasn't cooking. Think we lost its debut there I think we might Austin we'll see if we can maybe grab them back in a little bit but if you like we've talked about that before where. You're you're tipping based on the you know the quality of the food and align case is not just the quality of the service and soon to be unable to share that tip with the people you know behind the scenes. Can be a challenge sometimes Steve we have you back. I'm back outstanding so so a lot of times people were tipping on the quality of the food and you wanna be able to share those with the people who actually made the. Brett not I don't think a bit about I don't need people in our our servers. I don't think they do really well and which is great I'm glad to break you don't expect. I think you'd be nice to speak about something that is the back and I mean I don't know being. Steve a question Korea you operate restaurants in other states beyond just Massachusetts what impact you anticipate this having on some of those other facilities. Think we might be losing everything and we're at the let him go the be it. It's it'll be itching to see the guys that I've talked and talked to a lot of restaurant workers say we read a text conversation with a bartender. And they're not throw that in no 617. Chiming in the back of the house workers paid to sixty now know back of the house workers the good cook. Good cooks making minimum. Twenty bucks and aren't there Boston mental. Behavior and a major city here in New York. In your good at what you do yet I don't know enough about how was in terms of wages for back in the house and I'm not I don't know nearly enough about I'd like to know it I don't know. Some restaurants you can see those guys you know the UU you can actually you know water restaurants or don't and now the open kitchen style and everything like that via elected can see the action and one night we are sitting in a restaurant that you'd see. It pretty good view those guys. Our work in and it's hot meaning they are working in extreme heat. It burned all time. What I find amazing is that they make it look so easy though in ice it down like how would you even keep track of all of got to pull this off after seven minutes in this like. I don't even know how you keep track. It's it just seems to be a lot handled yeah just that it's all muscle memory for those guys about point I mean it's true shooting work it really is by you know it's it's it's amazing to watch them work well yeah uncle to hiring guys disease heart. Burned by yeah I mean did you replace experience. Jamie challenge. There's no matter where they work a lot of knuckle heads dominant enough we'll stuff to retreat to that he you know you can hire. A really good cook. Maybe eighty steal somebody from the obvious to come working your restaurant. You stuff to retrain them when your main or and that's the I think that that's up. Looper. Investor fidelity backing rival with Al lift. I thought the generated one point five billion and in the last round saying here in the story only 500 million I'm pretty sure. The gate around yesterday. Capital raise of one point five billion lift is becoming a very capable competitor. Lowber without a lot of the side show and Michael Putnam. Valley who. Now it's over just got a lot of issues Tom Fuller now it has its total Fuller. Whoever has so they've got to use of criminals. And in the end and they're under a mr. Cream shenanigans. You. Listeners feel pretty Texan with other words for shenanigans and so hours now we're still looking for that one what I what I've found that they raised about a billion dollars in October this is a 500 million dollar extension they just raised and additions of total. Is that one point five billion over the last couple months now. What's interesting is fidelity saying they were backing me back to root for we do wanna participate in Lipton and spread their bad. They are and and I think a lot of investors are kind of doing the same thing because they're sitting there looking to do over saying. We don't know where this go and necessarily you know that's a company that the more you look at them you realize that they didn't have some kind of corporate governance they needed. If you if you're believer in this technology right let's say you. Are one of the people that say yeah I cutesy driver scar technology being adopted throughout the country in the next twenty years yet who the players you've got moderately. Over and lifts. Google through their way in a division knows Google I talked to a guide HBS. And he says. Google is the is the bet on that technology they've got the deepest pockets the technology. He's sitting at the most miles that they've got a ton miles and so they are in the conversation they Delphi. Delphi is Tesla is GM is or Tesla technology stinks. I'd but you know it does it like a tech guy saying ought Tesla is like way behind. Couldn't tell you but I mean again like involve all. Right although it was as well. Natalie Toyota's. Adding to the list of things that he can do with your Smartphone or to be talking now with bill read from her wallet about the top ten car buying apps and Phil thanks for coming on with us. What are brigadier Phil let's start first what went I'd go to the dealership to go and tried to go by car is that the wrong way to do it now. I well there's not a lot that you can do before that and when you do go directly to the dealership. You've given up some negotiating leverage the pleasure of their physically. So if you use one of these apps you can contact multiple dealerships and find out what the market is doing in your area. Before you actually go to to the car dealership. So let's look at some of these apps and kind of highlight some of the key features in terms of the ones that stand out that people need to be looking out when they're making a purchase are there any of these that you you think people really need to news. You know what I would say that there are so at least streak here that cover our pricing. So Lou you know everybody knows there's a sticker price and there's also the invoice price but there's usually what we call the true market value price. And that's that transaction price or in other words that's what people are actually paying. For that car at that time. And that really that big car sites here would be true car has repressing information of course Kelly blue book has been in the market for nearly a century not outline of course. And Edmunds dot com so those three I would say. Are the most general and the biggest. The list that we found here. But there's some other sites here that are very useful to. In terms of the the apps that actually allow me to buy a car. On that app just by pressing a button or any that allow me to do that or do I still to go into the dealer at some point. You know content thing as a lot of people don't realize if you're buying a new car that new car has to come from a franchised. Dealership. So in the if you go through a third party sites that crop will be coming initially from the dealership and you will have to. Sign a contract then and do a lot of the legal. Paperwork. But as you can't. Simply press a button that may be coming there's a lot of people working on that right now because. I think it's what people expected in this day and age but no you can't just press a button. The paucity income we have on the list and like CarMax. Which Shelton mainly used cars. And you can arrange the delivery of a car which are still gonna have to go pick it up in some cases some of these people might deliver the cork your home but again the Little Rock contract. So it. So fun hearing correctly it sounds like that the two biggest things that you get out of using these apps are one. The ability to see you know different prices of vehicles from different dealers then also get those dealerships beating against each other is that the is that what I'm gathering. Yes so not section and that's huge I mean if you if you don't. Sort of seek a competitive marketplace. You're not gonna get the correct past price so that is one of the key benefits. There's a couple of other things here which is vehicle history reports you're buying a used car. Are sometimes include that. In these apps so it here in to something online that looks at. You can quickly take a look at that cart history that would be really good also. Ratings and reviews what other people have thought of the car and war automotive journalists took out of the car is very you know important. And the consumer reports also on our list here for general car buying information. Looking at these these you know these different apps to do you have any numbers on how much people are able to save by using them as opposed to just going to a dealer. Yeah OK so there's a number of ways to say it to say in a cart deal first Roy wanna get best financing possible so some of these late. Apps will link you to financing. Does one take advantage of the incentives. And also won best price for the new Korea buying and your trade just roll out those things together. In the you know you could be easily saved thing. 2000 dollars in any case that you could. Be sitting more than that if you if you have deal involving trade and so it's really it's very substantial year so that's worth taking a look at. Are good Phil thank you very much for the time gets up and soon. Thank you. Phil Reid from her you know the he raises a really good point on the trade it. I don't know have you ever had to do this trade in vehicle yes. It is in easing. The difference that you get on tree from a dealer compared to a private sale or multiple dealers Alia private sale Euro EU should be able to do quite a bit better. But if you look busy you know trading it is is easy. You know in it it's just right very efficient in Europe to go through the park itself. But I went to multiple viewers. I couldn't believe the dollar about difference is they also logged I'm just gonna auction the car off so you know you can get you could check the price of another dealers can beat saint. That's not true that is not true yeah go to multiple dealers to get the offer on your used car treated. Yeah when I I didn't do that when I traded in my last one and I'd I'd you regret not being a little bit not tougher on which he hit four. Remember 3000 this year car was totaled and it was yeah I mean it was it was not a Sony unit like. For me it was like though I was trading in a couple cars the same time. And between the two vehicles. It was coastal 4000 dollar difference yeah mine like that EC didn't work at a flat tire life if I fail I think I I will and on and no offense Jack but I would not buy a used car for. I would neither in the I would need not not when that you draw they've used a white guy I don't buy it I wouldn't I want from me like I wouldn't buy a used car would buy your old car. Doubt it. Is up eleven points NASDAQ up by yes and T barely eking out a half point game it's very chock from the financial exchange radio network.
