Buckle up it is he wide right here in a long time since we've seen anything like this. I don't like you what do I have to tell you something. I made mistake this morning some of our affiliates out there was chatting with you this morning talking about how yesterday was the worst day. This year that's not true no I just learned that did today that our current federal chairman was sworn in. The Dow was down one more point than it was yesterday who's got a lot a you know and it's a Friday. -- -- at a three day weekend a lot of. Negative sentiment and Alitalia yeah I'm excited about today's program because we have a reporter from the New York Times coming on. Jack Ewing yes and Angela Merkel who's the lead issue that prime minister president. -- would only chance to chat camera. And but you know Germany. Represents 28%. Of the European economy right. Injured Germany slowing -- that's why everything's going haywire because. You know you think about China China's major trading partner is your right and Germany is slowing down. Angela Merkel has been very slow to embrace any kind of stimulus programs as has our government. You know like you look we we look at Angela Merkel. And and we. You know -- critical of what she's been doing but you have to look at ours the same way I think we're gonna get stimulus in 2050. Germany has. Let go of the purse strings right lower taxes let the have to do something to stimulate the German Economy because as Germany goes. Goes France goes to Italy he's not bad bad numbers in Italy and they all follow Germany's Marcel. You know stock market correction has occurred I have to -- I I'm not gonna sit here and tell everybody that it's over now. I think it would be a mistake on our part it just -- don't worry about it this thing is over the price to earnings ratio historically speaking. And I'm talking about the Standard and Poor's 500. Historically the PE ratio for the S&P 500 runs fifteen point 721. That's enumeration. Even after yesterday's correction -- It is seventeen. To and so one could argue. Stocks are still a little bit expensive now that's the position of a lot of analysts say -- stock market is still too high. It's gonna come down until the PE ratios fourteen to 113 to one which could mean. You know you can be looking at. You know a -- -- 141000. And S&P 500. 1730. And I've got some resistance here right you could conceivably. You could CBS and 500 go to 1738. To 1924. Now. Here's the one thing that -- have to take into consideration I would ask you to do this before you make any changes to your movement this is right. You have to remember that interest rates are inordinately. So those ratios that I mentioned are when interest rates are foreign 5% interest rates are not 45%. Sort if you are among the investors who sold all of your stocks yesterday. And you're sitting in cash. What do you -- going -- woody -- getting in fact you know the the answer is still nothing that you're getting no return. When you cash that could go to goal you know golds at twelfth when he announced and that's another interviewer -- it is typical guy. Yep so that. But it the second that the market starts to climb again and gold cup you know if you if you pulled money out of the market you're putting -- you're just you know. You just waiting for another disaster or more problems let's put that you. And an outlook like I understand. Everybody's concern and nervousness. A stock in different years this morning team that they studios this 2000 needle over Gina I don't think so you know that's not my perfect. C 2008. Unwinding. Credit bubble right in there is no credible. You might have a credit probably cars you know but it's small you don't have housing credit. And if if you did then that the market conditions. I don't think you can compare I mean for the markets to drop for a couple of days. UK compared to what happened to pass and we had a financial crisis we had institutions closing your divorce. It we have millions of people losing their jobs billions of people start losing their right now we're just people who have just gotten spoiled remember back in 2008 to think about 20082000. Weekly jobs report. News the America Thursday's -- which are becoming the 700000. Bring us jobs in the right. In in that jobs for the month would be half -- -- mean it was 2009. Was just really well and very few remember what was happening on the stock market. Was the least of people's issues yeah yeah I hate to say it bits of truth that was the least to people's issues that your suddenly they were getting notices from their banks and they were losing their homes. You were losing their jobs saved -- was that the. It like you could navigate that crisis if he kept -- -- view it when that crisis hit in 20082009. Like this. -- you know you don't you're not nobody's happy that the market's down 7%. But if he's still got a job. If you still earn a paycheck and you're still paying your mortgage yes you're okay but anyway you don't have it. And they don't -- investment portfolio and it's down a lot but that's because people knew that. This is this just a rollercoaster ride on that this is just what happens to investors yet. Part of this is not a nationwide crisis and I still unbelievable I I will say. That I'm I'm not gonna take sides as to whether it's over or maybe this is the bottom because we've seen so many times our salute you get this 57% correction and it bounces right back. I it can go down more than numbers I have leadership of the numbers that. The S&P 500. There's a lot of resistance. At 1843. -- some resistance at 1914. Great game but don't be surprised if it blows through 19141910. It could goes Lowell. As seventeen points and 1738. And the S&P 500 now remember. As you sit here today on Friday it's at 1924. What does what -- couple weeks ago we are talking about the absentee. Being an -- to 2000. Right and a -- well led the Dow was at seventeen. Forty something. And where it 1660. So about it you know why is that what we're also started daily -- in premarket trading the Dow was down almost a hundred points -- more positive territory. Barely. Fairly restricted by. They. Programming note -- should be aware of. Remember the was two weeks ago we did a segment on solar power. Yes they were doing peace segment would. Pellet stoves. And I have recruited guy he's not only an expert on wood pellets goes he's also buyer. Right so is this is side. He does he does. Would -- those on the side but he knows a lot about them he's gonna join us at 1045. And then what do we -- days I -- I about golden eleven and I'd like this 1115 we're gonna talk about that company up in New Hampshire all. People are mad now man. -- -- Jeep right and died yesterday they had their first bankruptcy. Meeting with some their shareholders. I feel that many -- you. I mean obviously the employees are being affected New Hampshire there are investors throughout all of New England so. It's not just investors and creditors rightly PC connection is owed to answer the writer Steve electronics there in the electrical -- Euro right. So we're gonna talk with some of from the business review their New Hampshire -- a little -- about what we really think happened there you know hi I'm speculating. That they put older -- eggs in one basket to basket fill part but we'll we'll see what happens there are so ended as we said we had to acumen coming on and talk about. What Germany's gonna do you know it's time for that they're saying that -- most likely there's going to be some kind of announcement about a change in the way she sounds currently country country maybe a little more government spending remember she's. Working it collaboration she's got moderates. Moderate liberals and moderate conservative right is she's formed -- a coalition there. And it's it's fragile rightly it's east's it's not like she can just make an issue and eat that's right things happen. Yesterday I was roundly criticized. For our content related to casinos I thank everybody beat me up that's -- it -- -- -- broad shoulders X 8680s by text number. But -- today were all of the pro casino and yes that's right who we doing Jay Asher that's -- Jay -- -- Ashe yet JS he's the Chelsea's city manager and and die he is pro casino and I believe what will have to want to get this from -- I think that they have surrounding communities status for Everett. So they will get a certain amount of money at -- a lot of jobs but the question that I wanna ask him is how much in trading off from your lottery funds that come to you each year. And are you willing to take that amount of money at you know leaving New Bedford with nothing and that field in -- -- all the accounts now. All right we're -- with a pro casino. Interview in the next segment stainless. Barry Armstrong and Kim -- live. Right here on the financial exchange radio network. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Mortgage rates are still at an all time low and it makes sense to take advantage of these rates whether you're refinancing or buying a new home leader bank is a local bank that's one of the largest mortgage lenders in New England -- very competitive race -- their experienced staff about mortgage financing options and get a very competitive -- term fixed rate for your home -- refinancing or buying a new home work -- leader -- call 8776917900. All the best in businesses is right here. Barry on the stroke and can carry him on the financial exchange radio network. -- -- Ended and I will give him Harry -- She was the one that we need to cover both sides of this story and I am anti casino. Here in common and you know -- I hate to say this is it makes me Celek and running for office but now I'm on the fence and thought up up up up. -- -- -- I actually bite into the way Charlie feels about itself I I have to be careful I wish we just had one on the docket -- up. But anyway out what happened is for those of you maybe you didn't -- -- yesterday. Shame on you by the way but it -- and it just you know what happened was the anti casino lobby. Had a huge study that and what. They determined from this study is that these casinos are gonna have a major impact. On local cities and towns when it comes to their funding. And a lot of that impact is going to be the result of hurting the lottery you know lottery funds come directly to a lot of cities and towns and cities and towns depend on that money. For hiring cops and teachers in the road repairs and so on and so forth picks in the Little League field. So a lot that he's gonna go away because it's gonna go into the casinos. What we wanted to find out was from supporter of the casinos how they felt about the studied what their responses to the idea that a lot of cities and towns that are going to be close to the casinos are going to be impacted so. -- It's true. And I -- you're a supporter to me as Chelsea have on a certain status associated with the Everett casino. We're. OK so will that do for the town Chelsea. Well surrounding communities are able to negotiate with casinos to mitigate impacts that are anticipated. All of the -- operation we've been able negotiated an agreement. -- actually we -- -- it is time which was so much lucrative that he would agreement that a court arbitration. In about what we're gonna tip of the -- bill but postal enough that we can. Address some of the mitigation. That reflect the season except when you Mormon additional equity commission would call us. Okay so. Bing surrounding community status you have this opportunity to get funds from. They're being and benefiting from their being conceivable what did you -- -- to study became out of the other side. And what they're saying is gonna happen to towns like what story in -- into Boston. -- to discredit all I know what the general. Public comment on the general but I think -- reviewed. But percent well. Let's talk about it -- you know because what you're saying here is that Boston for example. Is this city that receives between fourteen point 4000000 and eighteen million dollars in local aid thanks to the lottery. And that's gonna go away or it certainly is in jeopardy. So what that a little bit rhetorical water as well there have been number hopefully hypocrisy of folks who abuse in the waters can be on. And a look at our neighboring. The state of Connecticut. First sixty news and look at the public and a two ports were opened the lottery actually went up thirteen of those sixteen years. Water project product quality being offered in the casinos sort of want I'm also sure that. The lottery is coming out of negative impact. But it might be just the -- also part of something else. -- is gambling casinos to gamble if money is not going to -- water that's going to the casinos it's still Campbell. You know and the architecture is being generated is still going to be coming back to citizens sounds so. You know I I -- have left at the 549 casinos and Chelsea. The cold -- At one point eight square miles and have 49 places shall we you can get watery. Tickets -- play -- -- so. You know the lottery is embedded in our communities expect that the the water is going to be as successful -- -- Well -- let me play devil's advocate with -- tournament at for a moment and and this study now again I'm relying on the -- it's coming from those who are against gambling in the state but the study apparently says that for every dollar spent on lottery ticket Massachusetts. 20% of that goes straight to local agencies however every dollar that's gonna be spent in the casino only 2% of them and come back to the common law. I -- and Chelsea were looking. Aside from surrounding communities we're looking at more than a million Dole's view that we would gain. I would vote for the movies expanded and free casino package that the legislature and the governor -- under the law. So -- -- site picked up the offset it's quite hear you right now in their talk invoked. This much is a hundred million goals and lost revenues have worked so we've got a million dollars Chelsea. Lotteries Arctic we would be that even there but there are -- via the benefits in addition. Let me put it short just a second that mr. don't ask you this -- so you're at even but what about Lynn. Because profits one point eight to two point one million from the lottery and they're not a surrounding communities so what are they gonna get from. You know providing them talking that even talking aside from the surrounding community agreement generally speaking to -- 1% -- portable watery. But generous subsidies announcement 1% would be. Or over the middle of the illegals in this that. The information that I've been working -- over the years about the 500 million goals so when new tax revenues that will be generated by the casinos. Mean. -- which ultimate give billions billions to sell so well aside from astronomy community I agreement -- I believe. There would be a net. No net change -- Well what would happen in terms of tax revenues and and every other benefit that comes along with employment economic all the opportunities like. I would hope till they are probably too. So so. The reason that you feel strongly about having casinos in the state I I'm gonna just speculate here don't want towards your mouth but acting jobs. Just slow we're exporting. A 101000 jobs. There're there're jobs in Connecticut Rhode Island New York. And capture. Mean. Or are tied to divert our our residential. Being able to keep those -- in Massachusetts and expand on them has probably. Thriving industry is important which. All right -- in England that -- a constant you know right appreciate both perspectives on the president's agenda of the -- see how the vote goes if you. We wouldn't get a sense mr. -- what do you think. Well you don't my little look at the world Taiwan 28. I hear a lot of support. More -- expanded gambling. Utilities that they at a time where your typical far away. In order to gamble has come and gone you know and in which the Internet with the 49 casinos and audio or reference that we -- -- Chelsea with fossil which also with all these casinos that are. Our target to a -- on the mistresses order Gailey has become part of our culture and so all -- -- might want my floss because economists. It's all around us we should do we should be back. Benefiting from it which we try to control as a fifty billion dollar industry in this country that is casinos and right now we're not -- appeasement and worse yet we're paying into it. Massachusetts residents. Casino taxes than any other resident new England and but it we don't have to casinos and so what we should be keeping investment. In Massachusetts we should keep -- chosen such revenues and he'll be -- bought some replacements should should replace the -- and will be you know tens of millions of people that are coming here and an argument and amenable another opportunity. To take advantage of what we have -- -- subsidiary cricket world. Thanks -- You know it look a. He makes some very good points rate in the fact that they half the cars in the heat sun parking -- from Massachusetts hassle it's a good point and. And appetite the I hope. We'd vote yes on three. Lot I find it very interface and all right I think it's really interesting that mr. -- feels this way about it lamenting -- very quick and he says he has 49 casinos actually in Chelsea Chelsea isn't. Is a community its struggles -- really struggled so if there's going to be community it would be affected by the negative impact of casinos that a lot of waiters waitresses group PA's right mergers that a lot of people who are -- or who are spending their money and shouldn't. That would be community that you'd be concerned about here. Because they're going to be close enough to casino that they can get there -- -- and the money to be able to spend. So make their paycheck there in the in the Booth and that's that's it so it's interesting that he does have this feeling about it so if in fact casinos go through our company has. As positive and impact on his community is I think helping him. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Possibly be true yet -- -- -- Meebo I -- as much as I don't like to pay taxes I like it even less have to pay taxes and don't have -- right after ten and this would be one of them. So that the reason is that in Massachusetts we get this one million dollar exemption for estate tax purposes which means you meat -- -- everybody are espouses. We have the ability to leave up to one million dollars to someone other than a spouse and not pay tax how do you do that without this inheriting your spouse you create simple trusts. Whether they be -- double or irrevocable. Depending on the type plane you're looking to do. You create these trusts in and most importantly you transfer some of your assets into these trusts so that on the first death. You're leaving assets in trust for the benefit of your spouse. And that money and would be less than a million subject to taxes the first state. Under your -- therefore any. Leaving not owned by the surviving spouse that's your spouse only owns the -- and trust. And as long as there -- less than a million weed out successfully sheltered two million dollars and didn't give a gift -- a 100000. Massachusetts why would you pay. -- voluntary estate tax to Massachusetts when you don't have to. Bringing on the civil war you know the answer that question you -- text does that at 686 Haiti's well what confederate state was the first to secede from the union. Great that journalists from Rhode Island -- he has been in Nebraska now that's it for about a week right right what's the latest. I think he's of their you know they're saying too terribly much. There it's very much like with the other the two doctors in the volunteered to -- in Midland and in the doctor. There in Nebraska. I think we've sort of kept it quiet but. He is receiving this treatment in key is quarantined and he is very sick they're saying now. But. You know -- like everyone who's listening am praying that he's fine in the Hewitt Associates around high school he did in Rhode Island yes that's right and he's been over their a couple of years yeah he hasn't. Fashion Week. It's out of this -- never go back. Find another -- to go right but you know he's quarantined and it was probably can't see you know when can see him. We hope he doesn't mean he's 33 years old. And I I think at this raunchy it is the age plays well all's well that -- from you how to Pennington was only 54 yeah survive right. I mean you can certainly survived it comes back to the idea. You've just got to be treated immediately bury it -- the dehydration is so dramatic so quickly. That your organs can't recuperate from that if it's left untreated which I think is what -- person. You know aren't we are capitalist society however he talked about out. We talked about how these drug companies have made a lot of money. Did you see the Hazmat suits due date the company name is Lakeland industries they meet these hazardous materials suits and by the way. Every suit is not equal. That's why they think this woman in Spain has been infected because -- think pursuit was not as it was army able number one. And they think that this it was not set up in such a way that you could take it. Off safely I just don't show got their. You think about she would be have been so careful. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And that is -- is certainly question. But these suits these are the ones that are being used here in the states and that our health care workers over the air using. It made by Lakeland industries that symbol for that company's LA VP now I will. Give you a little bit a fair warning this is a company that's losing money currently. It's a small company. It is traded as low as four dollars a share and right now him it's up 10% today at nineteen dollars per share so. Buyer beware because we've seen this you know we saw a lot of investors -- into these. That you -- -- happened in -- -- Mara all of these drug companies that make drugs let's say things happening here. The Lakeland must have a heck of the suit. Yes in Davis have a very good so right at the stock has run. But they've that they've needed on a small scale because prior to this. Movie of these right I mean really need him for Hazmat purposes so probably you know. Police departments and fire departments across the country ordered them once a year and a -- -- a lot of these hospitals right because when they are administering chemotherapy. Those technicians are aware advancements. But again that's a pretty small scale. You know we're talking -- relative out there and indeed with the US is sending out 4000 workers over there. We're joined by Bob Sanders from the New Hampshire business review and Bob you've had terrific coverage on the story thanks for joining us. Yeah so what today. Tell us what happened I mean investors in the stock have lost an awful lot of money in the stock it was a as recently is last week it was they think it 1012 dollars Stockton today it's no one dollar stock. I yeah I think it was a little higher when he won thirty it would dropped eighty cents -- point BO. GAAP basically a day while a city which now expected. Including apple. -- They switched their whole business. Plan. In which a that they totally branched out they they were trying to diversify. They used to make the equipment. The material that was used at -- start with solar. But he used material that was but he buried there. Gave at bat they basically a -- -- -- to -- belt then they went into other stuff -- the that mania started doing. -- -- be armed. Your estimate. -- and screen for things like cell -- right. How apple guy insisted there may. App billion dollar deal it. -- builders plant and they instead of just selling equipment they were a bit and make this stop the and it. It is -- -- that disaster we've just got to file and today there are leaking out. Stating that. That they're losing a million dollars a day in in this plant in its in Arizona you know that they built. Because apple did it or not but apple didn't buy the the screens from the right the they financed it and then a date the turned downer didn't want this the sapphire screens. Worse still not sure what happened is there's still a lot of secrecy that that's starting to -- let it. The that basically day Tuesday. I think everybody was hoping we're not sure what the plan want could ever that was opening you know be used in iphones sit. -- iPhone six came out last month -- announced that -- and that it was critical of the watches is the -- There it's not just a regular watch you know Smart watch. Back in the war I think they got over their head in this that's. Basically becoming a manufacturer. The house and it was such a gate you hope that to produce I just. I don't now my guess is they just weren't for Carter got an older. How many really sorry sure how many employees do they have a New Hampshire. We're not exactly sure. Right now they -- not talking to anybody. But. It's they have 11100. Well world lied about a hundred in mainly Asia seventies about thousand -- And they said in court that most of them. I don't know what that means is in Arizona right now. And those guys we found out just on this we -- if you go to our web site and HBO or -- content just an article out. Saying they -- wind down operations in. Arizona which is a major. Setbacks should did this bill -- where last year they just signed the deal last year. So Bob is this. Is this company gonna try to continue to function or they he does wind down mean were closing it. I'd take lying down means they're closing down that facility in Arizona that. That were generally it means our top. So they wanna protective equipment -- I think state. Either they want to sell that operation or maybe sell the equipment we're not sure I guess it depends who -- that table as. They have they still have the rest is beyond. And what's gonna happen with that is. Another question arm. Are they still selling equipment to people in two factories around. So world. And the nature. And take between China. So. We're not sure it in the east -- make a lot of money -- to they got into trouble wonders or market for ash. And that's. What started their efforts to disperse but I can get and there's this other. Lines of business but that they have a lot of research and development projects going. A lot of commerce. And who knows what's gonna happen. Bob have you -- talked to need the executives about all the insider stock sales or occurring at seventeen and twenty dollars a share. I. You know I did take a look at that. Like I -- the last count I think that inner city law firms in talking about investigations and shareholders' -- I am sure those those those doubts that it would be scrutinize a lot closer. I did. Imagine. A lot of New Hampshire businesses being affected by this because. They can't deposit checks that they have for payments for services delivered correct. Right or don't haven't even gotten a check yet and I'm not going to. There are about seven undated is this is that we were able. There were vendors -- electrical vendors are working on there. Some kind of project weather headquarters in America update of course their facility in tarmac they also have reported actual. I'm sure there's going to be a lot more coming forward. And the weeks. But they're generally smaller state actors are our I mean. That would they gave a list of thirty. Vendors in the smallest one of the top. Benders are unsecured creditors mostly under Serb couple -- And the bond holders are stuck without. 450 million dollars of unsecured debt and then you go down the list that they're you know on the vendors at the Wallace wanted them billion dollars and that's just stop there. Ripples through all of New Hampshire a lot of businesses are going to be negatively impacted lives. They're going to be if you. There is. You know the idea that they're not -- -- deputy -- did before and and the question is. How the assets they have are going to be distributed that is. They do have 81 million dollars on and comfort and news there's not a lot of there's no lean against the and so that money we get that money is. Is done unclear vendors alone. Are all 440. Million. Who was Lincoln's vice president in the year 1865. Let me answer that question you can text that X 86 and the winner of our last question was David from Wakefield and he says he was originally from Virginia so that's -- -- He knew his Richmond Virginia answer. -- Problems brewing in Europe have. Are largely responsible for the stock market sell off that we've seen this week we are joined by Jack Ewing from the New York Times Jack -- And I'm finder and thanks for having me. We're very happy to -- You know before I interviewed you I said I looked up what percentage. Of Europe's GDP comes out of Germany and it's 28%. So as Germany goes so goes the European economy correct. Now that's said that's absolutely true and -- been. The one sort of stalwart economy with fiscal crisis that started back in 2000 -- hit an -- Yet they've been. Very resistant. To any kind of stimulus is that correct. Well the they're that Germany as it is in a position they could spend money to stimulate the economy and that would help not only Germany but all of Europe. They have a balanced budget interest rates are basically zero it's actually a great time to be building. You roads and to picking up the universities and so I'm mature he doesn't want to do it that they're focused on. They're very much. Determined not to have any debt. Get knee yesterday Angela Merkel kind of tipped her hand it said while maybe we'll do substances act -- you know they've got the least that's what I read from your article. Right yeah and that's I mean that's the way things that are done in Germany -- always. They tend to sort of drifted to a new position and so this is may have been sort of the turning point -- she. Sort of starting to change her position and saying well maybe we could do instant stimulus and I think that's what was. Was going on yesterday that we sort of have to wait and see how little ball and how far he's going to -- -- It's hard for her to do that because she doesn't have a majority -- she's British she's dealing formal coalition. Yep well I think is a coalition is with the socialists together -- social Democrats were left wing parties still. I don't think she'll have any problem with them if you want to stimulus they'd -- off for -- I think a bigger problem is that in the conservative wing Liberal Party. And then there's also what do. Very Conservative Party that's been winning votes in state elections. Which is very Euro skeptic doesn't wanna spend any German money to help the rest of your by the that's really a bigger political problem. So how does this shake out -- it from your perspective Jack does she is stick with the conservative groups are Vichy. It did she start spending the money. Well I think my my guess what's gonna happen is that that you worked out a deal with. France and Italy Britain they've really need to do things to make their economies function better to to deregulate. A couple more flexible labor market they've been -- resistant -- -- I think what we're gonna see it. The committee and the Italians and French. The green determine who's gonna spend some more money to help the economy and they -- Flanagan and do the things that they need to do that so that their economies to grow faster. But you'll have some kind of as a sort of a treaty in no way I think that's where -- -- shake out. Would she want Germany or would it what does Germany want France and Italy today. But they have very very inflexible labor markets for example -- and it's in Italy it's almost impossible to fire or somebody. So pure business. That makes you very. Hesitant to ever hire anybody because distinct and what if this just doesn't go over well I've never been duplicate that this. And it's very similar in France Germany has had that system and reformed about eight years ago and has grown much better as a result. So that's the type of thing that she wants the Italians in the French to do but of course it's clinically very difficult for them. Who do you think we'll be the next country to enter the European Union Jack. The next and he gets in the European Union I think the Bosnian -- you're trying to get in -- and I think. The bigger issue with who's gonna wanna join the eurozone. Old episode Lithuania. Which is already in the U but it could join the eurozone started using the Euro zone common currency. In January but after that there's not a lot of countries lining out there awaiting the how things develop. Whether it really makes sense to be part of this currency union which at the moment is but he troubled. About old. Poland. Could get him the -- trouble it's a it's a very strong economy affect a lot of ways the the best economy in the European Union. But the statements you've seen from polish leaders late lately are very. Noncommittal saying we -- you know things are gonna go it's not gonna happen the next couple of years so I think it'll be awhile with -- -- joints. Because the currency now what the euros down to what a dollar 26. Yes something like that I haven't looked at recently but it's it's been going down the last couple weeks which which is good for the European economies because it makes your premium European product. Cheaper in the United States and other markets in the Mercedes and so water. Are cheaper and can compete better. So that's that's a positive -- continues. That should help -- a little bit. I -- BMW had a very good month. The carmakers have been doing fine because they have all these two markets in Asia they stolen cars in America over the economy's pretty good. So they've been pretty immune to the luxury carmakers have been good in the and so forth that the the middle class carmakers the mass market car -- are a lot of. -- very yeah very good Jack thanks very much for your time appreciate it welcome. It's Jack Ewing New York Times joining us today. Here's Merkel had her finance minister in Washington yesterday saying writing checks is not the answer. Now -- -- he was actually for from a pulpit in Washington you know. Calling out the French and the Italians to to reform their government's reform their economies. To save the union. Well my guesses that France and Germany or France and Italy and Spain and all these countries will fall in line. Because -- they're gonna have to do you do and it's it's. It's a difficult pill to swallow but the -- much choice and -- need either fall in line with their economies continue to shrink that's right. Well and they she's gonna have to force them to fall -- -- because her economy's gonna continue to shrink and that's because she's not allowed to probably occur here her she'll get thrown out your office she was so she's. She's walk and I think a lot of people in Europe feel pretty strongly about Angela Merkel I think they'd like her. A lot so I think it would be mistake.
